But he went ahead with the election against the wishes of the Generals with guns. So what stops him from announcing the complete results against the wishes of the Generals?

Humphrey Nwosu is No Hero – Let’s Be Honest

Honoring Humphrey Nwosu in the same breath as MKO Abiola is an insult to history.

After Abacha died, MKO Abiola died—a clear signal that forces beyond Nwosu were at play. But in moments where great men stand up to cement their legacy, Nwosu remained silent.

He had one duty: affirm that MKO won fair and square. He didn’t.

Why?
• Fear of IBB? Maybe.
• Pressure from the military? Likely.
• But history only re the bold, not the cautious.

Compare Him to True Heroes

Today, we have INEC commissioners risking their lives to declare results under threats, some even at gunpoint, yet standing firm.
• Some have lost their lives for announcing the rightful winners.
• Nwosu had none of that courage.

Senator Abaribe’s Calls for Immortalization? Nothing to See Here.

He was just a civil servant. He did his job—but nothing extra.
• He didn’t fight for justice.
• He didn’t push against the annulment.
• He didn’t defend the mandate of the people.

Greatness is defined by what you do when it matters most.

Humphrey Nwosu is no hero.
He was just a bureaucrat who stayed within the lines.

daniwise:

Mention one iINEC commissioner

I will mention two:

1. Alhaji Abdullahi Minkaila: Serving as the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Kano State, Minkaila tragically died along with his wife and two daughters in a fire at his residence shortly after the 2015 presidential elections.

2. Ms. Ibisaki Amachree: An INEC official who was killed by a stray bullet during the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections in Rivers State

So who deserves the immortalization:

Coward nwosu or the inec commissioners

That man Abaribe is a dangerous ethnic bigot that has no business being in the Senate of Nigeria.. the man can't point to any project or initiative he has successfully implemented for people from his constituency, just ethnic baitings and other meaningless talks.
These are the kind of people our friends from the East will put forward tomorrow and say is a saint fit for Presidency.

It's either Nwosu was corrupt or collected bribe, reason he failed to declare the 1993 Presidential election result.. compare the misfit to the INEC Chairman under GEJ who defied Orubebe and all odds to announce Buhari as winner despite GEJ being the sitting President at the time.
Nigeria must not honour men without legacy.

His job as the electoral umpire was to run the elections based on the military edicts provided as the enabling laws by the military ruling Council. He did this job perfectly well in this regard shouldbe honoured... If you want to add "suicide" as part of the qualifying demands to be the electoral umpire, you should have tried doing the job yourself to set an example for others to follow..

“After the end of Babangida’s tenure, the death of Abiola, and the birth of the new democracy that produced President Obasanjo, I would have expected Nwosu to say—either on his birthday or on a special occasion—‘I couldn’t declare these numbers then, but now, on my record, Abiola won this election. I just wasn’t able to announce it,’” he said.

I hope also Prof. Mega will be bold enough to set the record straight and tell Nigerians the real winner of 2023 general election before he died?

The late Nwosu wrote a book about all that transpired during that time and he acknowledged Abiola as the winner of that election.
These guys are too quick to demonize Nwosu even in death,I guess Rufai was right afterall.
I am sure Oshiomole didn’t have the balls to condemn the maradona of their time even after lunching his book.

Bigots will always be bigots do any of them have the courage in such a tense military environment to go against the wish of the military at that time? Some of them that even claimed to be in the front line of the june 12 struggle like tinibu didn't even have the courage to face the military here in nigeria they have to run away to other countries.

But obi people said only Yoruba senators are against it! Any reasonable person will see this move as a gross misplaced of priorities and criminality! His cowardice for not announcing the result led to the arrest of this man, yet those ipob senators wanted him to be immortalised! If he’s that important to them how have they immortalised him in their region? If you pay good attention to this people ,you will realised they are the most hypocritical reprobates in Nigeria! Just wanted to always look for opportunities to forment trouble for no reason! Thank God Una papa na hin president, he matched Una madness!

Do you know that he was removed as NEC chairman?

What's so special about the dead?

If the dead committed an atrocity, while alive. So we should not speak about it , because he or she is dead ?

Nigerians need to grow some brains, and stop all these don't speak ill of the dead...
To hell with Nwosu for not confessing.....His children shall face the wrath of God .

No mind Abaribe all he does there is to be a tribal bigot, imagine a senator advocating for the release of Kanu the terrorist, now clamouring for an Igbo man who connived to rig June 12 to be immortalised.

Immortlisation are for people that sacrificed... Awolowo, Lateef Jakande, Pa Enahoro, Fela not self centred people who did nothing. Abaribe is a waste and a disgrace.

Exactly my submission. An umpire who was afraid to announce the winner of election he conducted that the winner didn't sit in the office but useless Abaribe who knows another election cycle is approaching and want to whip up sentiment to be voted for again by his constituents. Kudos to Oshiobaba my representative. We say it at it is in my zone. Let Abaribe and co from their zone, immortalize him by even naming his village after Nwosu.
