Don't give up or be afraid, see it as a motivation. Work hard and learn to step out of your comfort zone, also don't let peer pressure to have the better part of you, because it can lead to depression. Rather let it motivate you to work hard.
I once lived in a rural area where the average pay was around #45 - 50k, and my receiving #100k then made me feel somehow relaxed and lazy. It dawned on me when PMB came on board, my 100k couldn't even last for 20 days. The internet was my saving grace. Explore the internet search for what turns you on, learn a skill around it, and in dew time you will smile. There are enormous opportunities on the internet.

The reality is no good job in Nigeria without connection.

Here's what you will do: Look for a service and offer it - anything online service, since you're a graduate you will make money.

You only need your brain, your computer or phone and your Internet to conquer poverty and the future.

Age is just a number.

Check my past threads to see what I've done.

Here's another advice I think you can consider

This no good job without connection you guys peddle around.

The private sector doesn't play with their money so need a lot of competent people to thrive.

you should thank God. I am 30 years with no job and nothing. I see my mates getting married building houses while to eat na Wahala for me. Wallahi its very depressing im just suffering and smiling, lots of time I think about considering the ROPE

You and him should truly be grateful to God. Here I am at 34, without a job, no apartment to call my own, still squatting from one place to another. I don’t even have a girlfriend, let alone the thought of getting married. Sometimes, it feels like life keeps dealing me blows, but I still hold on to hope. You both don’t realize how much God has blessed you. Having a sense of stability, love, or direction is something many of us are still praying for every single day. Always to count your blessings, no matter how small they may seem.

@33, I'm more afraid of the future

So reality is dawning on me for the tasks ahead.

Presently 33 with N85k/month salary job

During my days in school, I had thought life will be far better after school but here I am earning 85k/month and that is money that cannot even meet my immediate needs and not to talk of wants and unto other responsibilities.

By age, I'm supposed to have been married but still living in one room which is not advisable to even think of marriage in this condition.

To arrange myself for marriage, I need at least a one bedroom, furnished and comfortable. The yearly rent for that is about 400-450k

Then I am also worried about renewing the rent every year, year and year.

How about catering for the family? Aside rent, feeding, school fees (once married, you begin to reproduce), medical, clothing and so so and so forth.

To live a good life, you need a car for mobility sake as a family.

I can't continue to pay rent. Meaning I need to build a house.

Obviously, the 85k salary is not enough. I need to start a business.

And so many other issues giving me stress and sleepless night.

So my worry is, where would i get the money to do all these with these kind of job i am doing? For years i may not even raise a million naira.

I have seen situations where people no longer able to change clothes just because they now have a family and I'm trying to avoid that by all means.

I'm really really afraid of the future.

I feel there shouldn't be any future.

You have woken up. You are afraid. Don't listen to the people making you feel any better about yourself. The truth is that if nothing changes, your life is going to suck.

Now everyday I want you to wake up with that fear, the fear that if you stay the same, you are doomed. Now, I want you to look for the person you would like to become, and study them. After studying them, try to behave as they behave. In one year, come back to this topic.

It's obviously true that life in Nigeria is very difficult right now but God has not forsaken us. Pls what you should do right now is to LEARN A SKILL / TRADE. Focus on succeeding at it and you'll excel.

Well I can't believe people still earn 85k salary.

This is 2024 and no one should earn less than 200k in this current inflation.

There's someone out there praying and fasting to get a job that will him/her at least 85k a month...from what you've listed, you are the one mounting pressure on your self. A man once told me "If you can plan well, you would discover that what you've is enough"

Being afraid/stressed about life is a universal language. Everybody is stressed or afraid of something about life, even billionaires. Your situation can be work on. Try getting a better job or another source of income. For example, average American work more than one job to stay afloat. Marry only a woman who will add value to you and you financially or you will sentenced yourself and family to a life of struggle if you marry a liability while you do not make enough. After marriage, have a child and two maximum. Best of luck while you face life with full determination to succeed

I feel there shouldn't be any future.

As I read your post, I kept having a feeling that the way you're feeling you may consider the rope. Don't.

Your financial state is damn poor, agreed but not the worst in this same country.

The various things you're thinking of having before considering marriage shows that you know what is right. This is a plus for you. You're not entirely hopeless. You have knowledge, now use that knowledge.

All you need is a side hustle.

If you don't have an entitlement mentality but the mindset that there are opportunities all around you. It's just that we don't KNOW what is called OPPORTUNITY.

In this same Naija, you make make more money to add to that 85k you're earning now.

First, you need to think like an entrepreneur. Immediately, you'll begin to see what you are not seeing before that can begin to give you money. Then you can scale up.

Again, what kind of skills do you have? What kind of job are you doing?

Let's talk more. You can reach via my profile.
