shortgun:All what you mentioned are even small. Imagine an HND holders( ant and engineers ) must have a professional certificate before he can proceed to level 14 . They will just sit at the corner of their house and start thinking of how they can bring people down due to their own selfish and crazy ideologies. |

shortgun:you’re really funny oo. So if you start practicing engineering without being ed in Nigeria you’re a quack it doesn’t matter if you have B.Eng, M.Eng and even a PhD. Coren is a regulatory body not a society. If you want to gain new knowledge you can go to NSE, NIStructE, and many other institutions |

Esteemed colleagues and venerable custodians of pedagogy, I must convey my profound consternation regarding the conduct and disposition of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), a professional body to which I belong by virtue of my chosen vocation. As an educator of repute, I find it exceedingly disheartening that, despite the council’s avowed mandate to regulate the profession, it appears to have abdicated its responsibility in a matter of grave concern. Indeed, if one were to embark upon a statistical inquiry into the composition of the teaching workforce in Nigeria, it would reveal an alarming disparity. A significant portion of those engaged in the noble task of instruction did not pursue formal studies in education, outnumbering those of us who are certified educators. Yet, the TRCN seems conspicuously indifferent to this egregious encroachment upon the profession. Their preoccupation appears to be pecuniary, fixated on the revenues they accrue, whilst neglecting their paramount duty to ensure that only qualified individuals occupy our classrooms. I am bewildered by the fact that the TRCN has not undertaken any rigorous inspections or audits to root out the dilettantes and impostors who masquerade as educators, thereby sullying the sanctity of the teaching profession. This dereliction of duty cannot be allowed to persist. The raison d'être of the TRCN should be to safeguard the integrity of the profession by enforcing licensure requirements with the same rigour applied in other fields, akin to the issuance of a driver’s license—wherein, without a valid license, one is prohibited from driving. While this system may not function flawlessly in Nigeria, it is executed with impeccable efficacy in the Western world, and there is no reason why it should not be replicated in our domain. The question that looms large, therefore, is whether the TRCN is genuinely committed to elevating the standards of the teaching profession or if it is merely a revenue-generating apparatus. Is their primary objective the professionalization of education, or are they simply interested in exercising control over the practitioners, disqualifying some while ostensibly accrediting others? As a bona fide holder of a Bachelor of Education degree, I find it unconscionable that the possession of a TRCN certification should serve as the sole determinant of one's legitimacy as an educator. My qualifications and experience should suffice to attest to my competence, and yet, the council’s actions—or lack thereof—raise troubling questions about their true intentions. |

![]() shortgun: COREN registration as a prerequisite to bear the title ' Engr.' officially also applies in other climes. In USA, an professional engineer will indicate his registration status by adding PE to his name. Other countries uses Ing. |

SafariHunter: Lol... Congratulations. Go and collect your Certificate and Licence from TRCN Abuja. And check if your name is on the TRCN website as a Certified Teacher. If you don't have EDUCATION Qualification 1) with your degree (inside your degree) or 2) added to your degree, (additional certificate) you can not for the TRCN exam not to talk of sitting for the exams.

FameGlory: You are the real liar here! All your statement here are fallacy. Pls, confirm your statement before posting not from third party especially them say them say. The SUBEB and TESCOM are only bodies of Lagos State government responble for recruitment into primary and secondary school without TRCN but your degree, NCE or BSc (Ed) must be in education courses or PGD in education. Get your fact right |
