Ok let’s assume you are an adult. You obviously have the brain of a child. Foolish narrative

As in!

That idiot of Op thought you made a sensible decision.

Not knowing he displayed stupidity.

Ok even if you don’t want to help or probably not in position to help. Respond to her politely.
And who told you I was rude to her? Did you ready the part where I told her sorry? And don't you know how dangerous it can be at Night these days?

That is not new in Abuja anyway...most of them use SUVs...beautiful ladies and at times women with children claiming she's taking them to school and fuel is a out to finish...

Abuja get plenty fake people now Lagos.
Oh I see....Sha this is my first time encountering such, and the fact that it was in the night that made me paranoid

I wud have helped her if I had the cash even if it was a male. U never know tommorrow. A guy was stranded yesterday ...his car overheated and his battery ran low ....he had a Jumper and was begging commuters for assistance to connect his jumper to thier battery so he cud power his car....nobody stopped....he waved at me for help stretching out his jumper ....I stopped n assisted. It was a success ...nobody died! Learn to lend a helping hand folks

Totally different case scenarios. I might have responded the same way both of you responded in each case too.

And you call it a weird encounter? When you refused helping someone in need of help.

We are gradually turning to animals in this country...

You are gradually turning into animal because you refused to buy fuel for someone driving SUV in this economy and at the rate of N600 per litre? SUV!!
aylipple: 3:37pm On Sep 25, 2023
Maybe it's weird coz she was driving a "big SUV", whatever that means.
Anyways, people are going through difficult times this season & if we (in our individual capacities) can render help without a significant impact on our own financial plans, let's do.
The other day this man walked up to me at the filling station (that first one immediately after city gate if you're coming from Central area) that I should help him with money to buy fuel. According to him, his destination was Kuje & he didn't have enough fuel in his car to continue the journey; it was a Saturday, I think & he was coming from course. Showed his staff ID indicating he works with Nigerian Correctional Service.
I gave him N1,000 with an apology that I couldn't help him with more.
I also found it weird because I thought he should've picked engers along the way to gather some money - even if it's just enough to buy fuel - but hey, it's what it is.

We all need help sometimes. Not everyone is a scam. Most times I help for my conscience sake and not because of the person. U could have assisted with a few litres if u could. Don't pray to be stranded. I wonder what's weird about the encounter undecided
Driving SUV with no fuel and no money to buy fuel is the weird thing about the encounter. These days that people are selling off their big cars because of fuel to buy small cars while those with small cars are parking it at home.
It is a common sense thing if you refuse to buy fuel for someone driving SUV in middle of the city.

So why didnt you help when you had the means, and you are still creating a thread for us to do what? to praise your stinginess?

It's not a matter of him being proud of his actions. With the way things are now its risky to just offer any help easily even though out of comion we should. Some people have been robbed using that tactic or just generally scammed. Yes ideally we can help however we can but Nigerians in general know how to exploit peoples kindness.

If at all I want to help I wont sha give out what I'm not willing to lose and there are some genuine people I the country anyway. I once helped a man at a filling station using a zenith card and zenith having a bad network the man was debited but hadn't reflected. When I saw what was going on and I wanted to move quickly I offered to help the man. He was grateful and asked me for my details and he refunded me. Which shows Nigerians still have some honesty at least.

No
The part that was more visible to me is.. you shook your head and zoomed off.

Shaking your head alone has already conveyed the message to her and your readers. So don’t tryna sugar coat your rudeness or stupid act.

Pele.

The best guide is our intuition. It will always protect us if we learn to listen to it.

JOGICE:

I was once robbed around Jahi with a similar tactic, though my assailant was a healthy & wealthy looking man (unknowingly to me he was armed). If he contested for Senate_he’ll win surely.

Truth is my Spirit warned me but I shrugged it off - felt nothing Dey happen, na normal help.

That single action of rendering help almost cost me my Life. Within 15min after I was robbed, my s were freezed due to failed attempts by this wealthy looking thief.

I had to involve my friends at the barracks who swung into action_some CULPRITS were caught within 1week (the dude with the help of someone sold my phone to an unsuspecting buyer in Lagos), but main suspect remains at large.

BUT BY THEN

I lost family memories (clips & pictures), business/work s, wallet + raw cash, my work ID CARD, my job & official car…not to mention a scholarship I had just gotten, as all documents were scanned with my mobile.

It’s best to do as your spirit discerns when helping humans.

I wouldn’t wish what I experienced even on my enemies.

You obviously don’t live in Abuja. Area 2 shopping center is not a mall and not a complex. It is a glorified village market where the early settlers buy their dry fish and okra. Of course there are few patent medicine stores and some tailor shops to mend your torn clothing.
Is it called area 2 Village Market or areas 2 shopping complex

The best you could do was politely tell her that you were not in a good position to help so that if at all she was actually in sincere need she wouldn't feel too bad. You shouldn't have just zoomed off like that.

The car may not be hers and was really out of fuel, if you had the means you could have just helped, no amount is too small when rendering a helping hand. Times are hard, a closed mouth will only die silently
Abuja na packaging that's a new beginning pattern developing here .she can do that to various malls and get enough a day and start again next day .

So I was out this evening to buy something at Area 2 shopping complex in Abuja. As I entered my car and about to turn and go home, a young lady driving a big SUV car stopped by my side lower her window and she greeted me, when I answered she asked whether I can help her out, so I was like ok go on, thinking maybe she's lost and asking for directions, but to my utmost surprise she asked me to please give her some cash to buy fuel because she's running out of fuel and she has no money to buy fuel and she needs to go to Apo.

I just shook my head and told her sorry and I zoomed off. I don't know if any of you ever had this experience here in Abuja too?

The first time it happened to me around wuse 2, it was weired cos I actually gave in but I've experienced it like twice afterwards which made me realized its the new scam in town...

Other friends have shared similar experience too

Don't judge a book by its cover. You just did. Appearances can be deceiving. People are hitting ground zero financially because of this devilish government taking away their means of survival.

Years back I saw a man standing beside his car along the road with his car Bonnet opened trying to stop cars. I parked and he came running. He said all he needed was money. He had no money on him. I gave him what I could and left. Life
