Ahm:
So I was out this evening to buy something at Area 2 shopping complex in Abuja. As I entered my car and about to turn and go home, a young lady driving a big SUV car stopped by my side lower her window and she greeted me, when I answered she asked whether I can help her out, so I was like ok go on, thinking maybe she's lost and asking for directions, but to my utmost surprise she asked me to please give her some cash to buy fuel because she's running out of fuel and she has no money to buy fuel and she needs to go to Apo.
I just shook my head and told her sorry and I zoomed off. I don't know if any of you ever had this experience here in Abuja too?
Even if you weren't in a position to assist her financially, or simply not willing to assist, you should have politely told her so before "zooming" off in such rude manner.

JOGICE: Certainly we’ve all got various views on things like this as humans.
THE FACT IS;
Human understanding is centered on life experiences & knowledge gained by association.
As in!
That idiot of Op thought he made a sensible decision.
Not knowing he displayed stupidity.
Ok even if you don’t want to help or probably not in position to help. Respond to her politely.

That is not new in Abuja anyway...most of them use SUVs...beautiful ladies and at times women with children claiming she's taking them to school and fuel is a out to finish...
Abuja get plenty fake people now Lagos.

A woman driving a big SUV doesn’t have fuel in the car, doesn’t have cash, and also doesn’t have money in her bank ? Is that not questionable. A lot of people are saying you would’ve helped her just because she’s a female. A lot of scams and atrocities are going on in Nigeria. If you lose guard, you will be the victim instead of the good samaritan most people are claiming to be here.
The only sensible comment here...like, you can imagine!! She doesn't have husband?? Boyfriend or one of those Alhaji bankrolling her she can ask for such herculean favour...😂 And people get mind dey say OP for buy her fuel, someone that is driving a bigger car than the OP from the way he explained the big SUV...
Anybody that doesn't have money for fuel should sell his or her car, the country is already hard, do not make it harder for others.

I wud have helped her if I had the cash even if it was a male. U never know tommorrow. A guy was stranded yesterday ...his car overheated and his battery ran low ....he had a Jumper and was begging commuters for assistance to connect his jumper to thier battery so he cud power his car....nobody stopped....he waved at me for help stretching out his jumper ....I stopped n assisted. It was a success ...nobody died! Learn to lend a helping hand folks
may God bless you.
I have ignored people looking for before, not until my battery got me stranded too.
Since that day I render help to people that needs battery to start their car.

The car may not be hers and was really out of fuel, if you had the means you could have just helped, no amount is too small when rendering a helping hand. Times are hard, a closed mouth will only die silently

I won't trust such person though, make e no be say them wan trail person. Next time you go to that shopping mall, watch out if you will see her again. The things happening in Abuja nowadays one need to be careful.
You obviously don’t live in Abuja. Area 2 shopping center is not a mall and not a complex. It is a glorified village market where the early settlers buy their dry fish and okra. Of course there are few patent medicine stores and some tailor shops to mend your torn clothing.

A black SUV. She is a corporate beggar. I have encountered her while driving out of Biobak Kitchen in Area 11 sometimes early this year

And you call it a weird encounter? When you refused helping someone in need of help.

Well I understand where he is coming from. It's strange when someone who obviously drives in a better and bigger car than yours suddenly asks you for paltry help as fuel. I do not blame the Op at all.

You did the right thing. But on the other hand she may just be looking for someone who is generous to be her friend, she may be rich and all she does is give and give with nobody saying take.... Whatever... Do as the spirit leads!
