Yes u have to have a level awareness of people u work or interact too closely with. U may not know bt some are studying and reading u for information or weakness.
They studied ur house and know u live alone and other information they shouldn't ideally know. Next is to exploit it.
why should u bring a bike man or dispatch rider into ur house when he should stop at the gate?
Acting too nice to the wrong people only makes u a soft target.

Standard
Most Nigerians repay generosity with ungratefulness or worse, evil. Once you're generous most people see you as a stupid person; if you're courteous you're perceived as weak or of a lower cadre to them.

Give only when necessary,i.e when they ask for help and make sure it's not always because it will make them think, u always have money.
Anytime they ask and u refuse to give,u become their enemy.U need to act broke at times even if u have all the money.
Some become entitled because u give them always.
Others just want to collect from u because u have good heart and not because they need it.

This is very very very true. I have had my fair share of people who take advantage of your kindness. In Nigeria, kindness is often interpreted as foolishness and they will take advantage of it to the fullest. You see you wey nice, na you gan gan go suffer. Nigerians can't handle the freedom and kindness you extend to them.

I learnt a great lesson that day about human psychology. Since that day, I see through everything, It won't matter if you use religion or blackmail to pyscho-babble your way. I will do what I intend to do strategically at all times with self preservation in mind. It pays to have a minimum amount of selfishness, especially if you haven't stood well and are considering rendering help.

if anyone want to borrow money from you, be it investment or non profit spending, refer them to Microfinance or Lapo. The friend I lend money to during university days to pay his school fees, promising heaven and earth his dad will send the money before 1 month. 3 months after, he bought a new phone (×2 higher than what he's owing)... its been 4 years now and the debt still exist... my guy never for once mention that money again ...

I had already learnt this lesson while in Nursery school. It amazes me how I'm still able to virtually everything (even the perfume permeating the air et al) that transpired the day I decided to show a little kindness to a classmate because he said I should give him small. Brethens, I don't know if it was because of the Sunday school lessons of the previous Sunday or if it was the morning devotion that made me decided to test this show of kindness, I kid you not, till this day (in Deontay Wilder's voice), I will never forget the experience.
That was how one became two and I was almost mobbed, they wouldn't even let me eat my break food in peace because I was hungry too. Different guilt tripping emotional tactics to get from me what some turned out to have, some even came multiple times. If you didn't bulge, they go "ok, I won't be your friend again", and that's coming from someone who wasn't even my friend to begin with.
I ended up sharing it to everyone that wanted it, thinking they would be satisfied. I got the shocker of my then short life, lols. They cursed me out saying they didn't even get anything, people that just several seconds ago were just nibbling out my lunch like piranhas in an eating frenzy.
Of course I cried that not only did I get not to eat my lunch while hungry my self, but that even after helping they didn't acknowledge that I help them and cursed me out for it.
I was now hungry, traumatized (effing brutal something for a <4 year old, the things that were said? Hmm), got mobbed (they even mobbed off my flask and water bottle from my possession, lols) but also gained more enemies than friends (shit seemed to get worse the more I tried to explain and ask them didn't they when I cut for them just now?)
I learnt a great lesson that day about human psychology. Since that day, I see through everything, It won't matter if you use religion or blackmail to pyscho-babble your way. My brother it pays to have a maximum amount of selfishness. Majority of Nigerians are evil.

Yeah, I think about that too. The only disadvantage would be that if one of them decide just randomly on first meet that one is a worthy target your radius of investigative net would be wider.
In the military, they tend to have and orderly or batman/batmen as they were called. That way the search net is smaller, even if the the culprit decided to outsource the deed out, one perceptive enough could reasonably link 1 and 2 together and form a reasonable haunch (I'm not talking about just blindly accusing anyone, although there are ways the military police can get it out of them, lols)
Your reply is very apt. I wonder if it is safer to have a smaller circle or regular and familiar people or a larger circle or random and unfamiliar people. Which is actually safer?

On point, our problem sometimes is that we try to solve a problem we didn't create.
Secondly, we tend to question God on certain life issues not knowing they are man made problems
