why is lithium battery now cheap

Rumors say that lithium is been illegally exploited in parts of nigeria by chinese. You can put 1 or 2 together. grin

I did mention that. It's a risk but Aliexpress generally refunds if you don't get your order.

the deal is too good, 3.5kwh for 250k? That's crazy.

And I'm seriously looking to expand my storage.

The advice Omotoda gave him was sound. That inverter will work fine with lifepo batteries and won't overcharge it as the charging profile is on average lower than what is needed to fill lifepo batteries. Also those buttons have nothing to do with charging but control how fast the UPS kicks in.

It's still good for him though to get an external charger so that he can ensure he fully charges the battery once in a while.

Thanks so much guys for the responses.

I am intending to buy the 24V/5kwh lifepo but my fear is how to buy a genuine one or genuine brand as I did a market survey earlier today and saw several brands with varying prices.

Please how do I tell a genuine 24V/5kwh lifepo4 and what brands in the market are good though I have a moderate budget.

I am considering buying TashaEnergy 24V/5kwh lifepo but I am not very sure if it is a good and reliable brand

Another thing you might not realise is that if he switches off the charging profile of that inverter, it kills the ability of that inverter to act as an automatic UPS, which I can tell you from personal experience is quite stressful for him to changeover every time NEPA takes light.

At least, lets first let him worry about obtaining the battery. On the first day he can charge it up for a while and observe it directly if he has a multimeter (which everyone in this forum should at least have by now).

I have a multimeter and I am good at using it
numericalguy(m): 9:24pm On May 01

MayBe he should get in touch with an electrician to help him with a relay switch whose power source is NEPA / PHCN; the moment dem off, the thing go do him own work. You just got to think and your problem gets solved.

No vex, I jump in REPLY, I no read back story

Please can you suggest any relays I can use. I am good at fixing electrical things

He's referencing the maximum charge for a lifepo cell, which he puts at 3.6v, which when converted for a 12v battery is 14.4v. He doesn't believe in charging to that extent.

However, most Chinese manufacturers put maximum between 14.4-14.6v, just double it to get the maximum voltage for a 24v lifepo system.

As for recommendations for a 24v 5kw, why not chat up Valto? The other option is you drop the names of the batteries you are interested and people give you their experiences with them the same way we did for your inverter.

The luminous inverter I am using can charge a 24V battery system to 27.5V - 28V at full charge.

I will chat up Valto tomorrow

Thanks so much

Hello guys, I bought some generic 300W from a Solar shop. 2pcs. It was during raining season so sun wasn't really out that period. I noticed on my 40A HQST MPPT charge controller, the wasnt giving me more than 80W out of the stated 300w. (The MPPT charge controller shows you how many volt and Amps that is coming in from the solar ). So I thought maybe it is because we were in raining season that period. Fast forward to January with full sun, I was getting 105w max per to give 210w out of the supposed 600W I am supposed to get. So I concluded I have bought fake s. Then I decided, this time around I will buy original Jinko 550w from an authorized dealer. So I went straight to Foauni store(one of the authorized dealers in Nigeria). On getting home, I noticed I was only 275w out of the stated 550w too. Foauni does not sell fake products so I know I did not buy fake this time around. So I was wondering, is this the normal way solar s work. Delivering just 50% of their rated wattage even in full bright sun. And even when my battery is very low this is still what I get. I know most times, when batteries are almost full, your MPPT enters float mode and reduces the power coming in from your s but even at low battery percentage, I am still not getting more than 50% of the rated wattage of the Jinko 550w in full bright sunlight. My MPPT controller tracks the wattage all day and tells you at the end of the day the highest wattage the supplied and the highest I got on the 550w is 280W. And my controller does not have any current limiting function. Is this how solar s work in Nigeria because most solar reviews in the US that I watch on Youtube, those s produce atleast 80% of their rated capacity.

Were you able to solve this problem? I have the same issue.

It’s not just a relay bro, you need a 12v step down transformer or any other way to step down 220v to 12v

It seems that ‘allegedly’, cworth’s way of making money is by over-rating all of their products. It’s very shameful and dishonest.

I don’t think we have a serious consumer protection agency in this country, you can be sued for false ment in the west!

Their 100a 48v battery is 86ah actual cells
Their 300ah 48v battery is about 260ah actual cells
Their 150ah 48v is actually 130ah cells
Their 10kwh, 20kwh and even 3.6kwh batteries are all overrated, the actual cell capacities are way lesser.

Now I did more findings, and can conclude that their 500w solar s are actually 450 watts. They just made it to have 120 visible solar cells to give the impression its 500w but it reality, it can never reach that. The power specification sticker is also inflated, you can never get 40.6vmp.

This is unfortunately ‘allegedly’ how some Chinese companies do business, by cheating and cutting corners!

Note: These are my personal opinions and are not stated in any way to de-market, defame, or cause reputational harm to the brand or its parent company. This statement is made without prejudice, and is intended solely for informational and review purposes. I do not claim to represent the company, nor do I assert any factual authority beyond personal experience and publicly available information. Viewers are encouraged to conduct their own research and form their own conclusions.

There's a reason dishonest "solar installers" love the cworth brand

Just talk to an electrician. That's a good place to start. if you don't know what a relay is, or it's function, can't rally explain to you how to do it. Just talk to electrician, tell them your need, and what someone suggested

Major reason I suggested he get in touch with an electrician. No sensible electrician would connect a small relay directly to a voltage of 220v

This issue is you're price conscious.

See eh, Solar is meant to be a luxury, na situation of things make am come look like a necessity. I for call some brand names for you BUT imitation full market.

Would suggest you either those in Nairaland that's been recognized as reliable to some extent e.g the Valto guy. Mind you, have got no personal affiliation with him BUT He seem good enough going by the praises He gets in here. Just do your own research sha.

Alternatively, go buy directly from Luminous showrooms. Keyword here is DIRECTLY because buying from just any shop, even a big shop doesn't guarantee you getting the real thing.

Skimpy max Budget is reason i tend to steer people away from lithium. If you could buy a rubbish Lead acid battery, buying a rubbish Lithium is way way easier. That's even not considering the inherent security issue that might arise.

At end of the day, brands like TashaEnergy, cWorth, SMS, etc are all birds of same feather like Gionee, inFinix, Tecno, etc.

Hopefully you very much aware Electrical engineering, differs from Electronics engineering, which in turn differs from Computer engineering, and even Mechanical engineering ? All na engineering but their fields differs.

Me ma be like I chop small small from all fields. I fit prove (with varying degree of accuracy) to be expert in any of the above fields till I meet those who really know their onion.

As I still dey, i fit balance double column cashBook, and even handle Balance sheet, and Trail Balances despite not being an ing student.

I stated my electrical engineering background just to explain that I am not completely ignorant of electrical and can understand any explanation perfectly. I am into other fields of engineering now. No one knows it all which is why I need you guys help

I always like to buy any electrical materials myself just because of the unscrupulous ways of most installers. It's not only about money but also about safety.

Good enough BUT with my relay suggestion, buying is not what's only required + there are a couple of other tiny things needed. Don't worry, na electrician go supply you everything. A lot of times, e no even need go market as e fit extract am from all the numerous old s wey full him shop.

Basically, just explain the issue to him, wait for his suggestion; should he have nothing reasonAble, tell him someone suggested using a relay. If He doesn't know what a relay is, abeg run from am.

Another thing that could matter is response time as you don't want appliances connected e.g TV, Fridge, etc to trip off and restart when NEPA does their thing BUT no worry, in other not to complicate things, achieve this first.

So long the inverter s said Voltage, it would work.

As for 12volt batteries at the cost of 13,000 naira each, I go try ignore the price and focus on the fact that you could pair 4 of those batteries in SERIAL to get 48-volts.
