I trust nairaland.. Fight must start between parties that are not involved in the case grin grin
I have been very angry since yesterday but reading the comments of some Nairaland just got me laughing out loud. cheesy cheesy cheesy The attacks and counter attacks. cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Please for the record, KakakiAutos is not to blame in anyway for this. He delivered on his promise despite all the hurdles we experience during the buying process. There's no harm in recommending your client to another business that offers complimentary service.

Openbusiness:

Sir, let me tell you what you don't seem to see. With Nigerian customs, for duty payment or clearance of your goods, you have 3 categories which I call:

1) Full duty (full duty paid)
2) Acceptable duty (more than half full duty paid, less settlements)
3) Non - acceptable duty (less than half full duty paid, more settlements)

Assuming for this case now, the agent paid maybe duty of N3.5m (acceptable duty), no customs would have impounded the car, they will just collect roger of like 2k and let him go. But paying N1.9m duty out of N2.750m for a 2014 Gx460 is non - acceptable duty. FOU Customs will always disturb on that car.

You have said it all. Cars that Acceptable Duty was paid on were allowed to go at the custom checkpoints after settling like N2k or N3k. But this guys were just adamant and refused all our diplomatic approach. We even offered N50k after spending over 3hrs there but they still refused to shift grounds from their N200k demand and this was just the 4th checkpoint when we know quite well that there are over 7 more custom checkpoints to go.

We were given an assessment duty of N1.440M to go pay into the customs at the bank. My boys told me to sit back and allowed them resolve the issue themselves. God willing, the car will be released to them any moment from now.

To all those that reached out to me, offered advice on this thread and wished me well; i say thank you. May help not be far from you in your time of need.

To KakakiAutos, YOU ARE A MAN!! You promised and you delivered. I never lost sleep for one minute because you carried me along. Even on some issues that seem irrelevant, you still kept me informed. Thank You.

As for AdexFem, FULL DISCLOSURE was your undoing. Of the N850K balance left after you paid N1.9M to customs. Let me assume you paid N100k for shipping and terminal charges; and your agent fee is N200k. You should have about N550k left uned for.............. I won't say anything here for now but bear it in mind that it is not every bone you can swallow and go scot free; some will choke you.

Ask for the valuation and duty payable on your vehicle and request for them to raise the D/N, generate assessment for you to go pay. Don't settle them. You can pay the Assesed Duty yourself . They can't impound your car as long as it was genuinely cleared and you paid the exact amount the valuation at the port gave you to pay. Of the whole sum you gave your clearing agent, he will pay Shipping charges, Terminal charges and other running expenses out of it.
Good Luck

Thanks for your suggestion. Maybe you should put an estimated figure to the shipping charges and terminal charges so we can do the maths.

So the 2014 GX460 i pre-ordered from Manheim through KakakiAutos since July finally arrived this November 2019. You can see the thread here: https://nairaland.unblockandhide.com/5281450/experience-buying-2014-lexus-gx460

KakakiAutos recommended AdexFem as the clearing agent. In his words, "Using AdexFem will cost you more than other agents because Adexfem pays full duty on cars he clears, unlike other agents that cut corners."

I said good, i will rather go with the expensive Adexfem option and have peace of mind than being penny wise pound foolish. So i was billed N2.750M (Two Million, Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) to clear the vehicle with full duty paid and i transferred the full sum same day. Only to have my vehicle impounded today and taken to the customs office because Adexfem decided to shortchange the Government; after collecting full payment from me.

Continued: Those who have done business with me on Nairaland like Gazzuzz and others know that i don't pinch pennies, and i hate cutting corners. Out of the N2.750M handed over to him for clearance, Adexfem paid a duty of N1.5M plus other minor charges bringing the total receipted sum he paid to N1.9M.

The most annoying part of this whole incident was that while the driver was on the road today, i kept asking repeatedly if the full duty was paid so that the driver will know his stand when dealing with the custom officers on the road. Adexfem kept reassuring me that the full duty was paid. My driver and escort had a rough day along the road with the customs until we got to custom checkpoint 4 and we were asked to go pay full duty or settle them with N200k.

N200k settlement at checkpoint 4, after paying N2.750M with about 7 or more checkpoints to go through. angry angry angry angry The custom officers requested to know how much exactly was given to our clearing agent (Adexfem) for the car. My driver called Adexfem to speak with the officers but he only made matters worst by name dropping and telling them that this is Nigeria.

The custom officers got annoyed with his statement and impounded the car. I got across to Adexfem and he said it would have been better we spent N200k settling them than allowing them take the car to their office. That was when he opened up that he paid N1.9M total and used the N850k or there about to grease palms at the port. shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

Ghost Customers!!! Make at Least N1M Profit in 2020 Selling to Them.......And You Can Start With N100k or Less. But You Must Fulfill One Condition...

1. You Must Not Be Ashamed to Stand up in the church or your village meeting and say "This is What I Sell for a Living." grin grin ; DAfter all, shit money no dey smell grin grin grin And YES!!!! It is 100% legal....No need to fear SARS or EFCC.

So for the past 6 weeks, my team have been working undercover on just one mission..... "Finding fast selling products in Nigeria without identifiable customers"

As in.... cool cool cool cool cool The customers come to your shop with face caps and sunshades wink wink, buy and vanish without trace. Even the slapping senator wore face cap. A whole senator oh!! grin grin grin grin grin grin grin Or they simply don't show up at all and make their order online. cheesy cheesy cheesy It’s like a black market that’s legal. Enough of the long story, let me just share a summary of one of such products with you…

Business Opportunity 21 – Selling S*E*X Toys shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked ( the Slapping Senator)

MO – You can start a selling from a shop that’s codedly branded just the way strip clubs in Nigeria code themselves (I just revealed another niche oh). You must not be in Lagos or Abuja, in fact, our research shows that physical stores are simply non-existent in the capital city of most states in Nigeria.

The pros: You get a chance to listen to the customer’s need and offer a product with a detailed explanation of its workings. Or, you can start selling online but you will have to put your face out there doing product reviews and offering free advice. Don’t spend shishi on adverts…I repeat DON’T!!! Your customers are on coded Facebook groups and Nairaland Sexuality section.

Risk cry cry cry Stigmatisation and alienation. But don’t worry, the same people that stigmatise you during the day will NICODEMUSLY patronize you at night because sex sells and the average Nigerian is a Hypocrite. cry cry cry cry

In fact, this niche will do better in the North…..Or where else is BURUNTASHI consumed more lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed? Even Boko Haram sef have been busted using these products… cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

I will expose more opportunities depending on how the spirit leads…..Until then, remain Hypocritical.

P.s: Can you identify any other ghost products with ghost customers? Drop it on the thread

People come on Nairaland for different reasons, I am here to learn, educate, catch fun and make money. In the midst of all the controversy money is being made, deals are being closed, appointments are being booked, and I have been smiling all day.

For those of you who just use your data to forment trouble, you are an asset to the community, I love you guys, the more you post, the more views the thread gets, as long as I have not committed a crime or defrauded any individual on this platform, I have nothing to hide, so keep posting keep hating or loving which ever catches your fancy, deals will continue being closed, education will continue and entertainment will be at its peak.

Well said!! While few are learning, improving themselves and closing multi-million naira deals on Nairaland; others are trying hard to be famous by being a nuisance to the community. In all, they are still important to the community.

Status Update: A lot has happened since i last posted. Like i said in one of my replies to a thread; "you can have the money, find a good car dealer, find a good car at a fair price and shit will still go wrong." Now let's go over the timeline of this deal.

6th July 2019 - Made full payment to Kakaibuy for a GX460 after selecting one that meet my specification and the payment was confirmed by him.

9th July 2019 - Manheim confirmed payment for vehicle. So we wait for approx 2 weeks for document regularisation by Manheim.

9th August 2019 - We were yet to receive the title for the vehicle. Kakakibuy puts a call across to Manheim and was told their was an issue with the title, which was sent back to the seller to rectify. So we were left with 3 options:

1. Wait for the seller to correct and send the vehicle title
2. Open an arbitration and request a refund from Manheim
3. Choose another car from Manheim

After a little back and forth with Kakakibuy on the next step to take, I went with option 3 and the search for another car began.

21th August 2019 - We found another GX460 on Manheim and placed a bid for it and won.

26th August 2019 - Documents were regularised by Manheim and sent to Kakakibuy's US Address.

10th September 2019 - Kakakibuy confirmed receiving the Title.

18th September 2019 - Vehicle was picked up from Manheim's lot by driver, to be delivered to the port.

This is the current status quo of this deal. I will update as things progress.

I was looking to buy a 2014 GX460 on Coparts and I decided to reach out to one of the trusted names on Nairaland that hasn't been called out for a dispute whatsoever “Kakakibuy.”

After a brief chat with him on the cool evening 01/07/2019, and reaching an agreement on his service fees and estimated budget for the car, the search began. Given the horrible state of the GXs listed on Coparts, i can't bring myself to drive such cars as i am safety conscious. So i decided to port to Manheim for a clean title, which i know will cost more. This thread was opened was record and transparency purpose. Initial commitment has been made in Naira and a first installment deposited in Dollars.

Oga Kakakibuy grin, over to you. Full disclosure permitted, but leave out details like names and . grin grin grin grin

After a brief chat with him yesterday evening 01/07/2019, and reaching an agreement on his service fees and estimated budget for the car, I transferred the full amount he requested this morning 02/07/2019. This thread was opened was record and transparency purpose.

Rubbish!!!!! Instead of looking at ways to encourage entrepreneurs and enterprises to create more jobs; they are increasing the burden and cost of doing business in Nigeria. They should go ask USA why they lost most of their jobs to the Chinese. It was mainly due to cost of labour. Well, i trust my fellow business owners and investors, we must find a loophole to beat the system. With this law, i see more and more of contract staffing.

Sam Dede, That guy dishes out Igbo proverbs for breakfast especially in Ijele, Issakaba and Last Burial.

Some of his favorites quote: " It is sheer ignorance that makes the rat challenge the cat to a wrestling match."

"No one praises the ocean for its size."

"The day a child insists on knowing what killed the father, he begins his journey to the land of the dead."

"The protection of the young chick, is in the wings of the mother hen."

"The cockrel that visits the diety, will become a sacrifice to the gods."

"Igbudu!!!!!! Do not be deceived by the friendly nature of Amadioha's wife; or you will be consumed by the volcano of her husband's anger." - Sam Dede's quote while in a battle with Igbudu the great dibia in Issakaba 2.

Nkemka the cripple: The lion is shamed when it sees its cub run away at the mere barking of a dog.
Sam Dede (Ebube): "Not when what the cub saw has 6 feet, with the teeth of a dragon, fiercer than even the lion itself." - Issakaba 4
