Hi I am also preparing for the exam in June.

I am currently using 250 activites

fadeofresh:

Hi @Kennyyo, have you paid for the exam? are you already fluent in french?
let's share ideas before the exam date.

I have already paid for the exam in June, I'm quite fluent in french.
I've read through this thread before and got some tips.
I ed a couple of books and i think 2 of them are very essential (TEF 250 Activites & TEF Objectif Reussite)
There's also a youtube channel with tips for preparing for TEF (MIMI TEF), I've watched some of the videos there, they're quite good.
i noticed for the TEF the materials for preparation are very limited unlike IELTS.

Any other person preparing for the exam, let's share strategy and ideas.

Bonne Chance a Tous!!!

grin grin The irony of it all, if Naija education was any good as you claim. You would not have a need to flee your own country when we are not at war. 99% of those who ran the country to the ground schooled in Nigeria and I dont think its gonna get better.

So the fact you are on this thread shows that Nigerian educational system is trash, how can you even argue this ? Our country cannot even produce but only imports toothpicks, toothpick !!! and you are here arguing based on sentiments... grin grin grin grin

one thing I have come to understand is that most people love to live in denial. You claim that the Nigerian educcational system is not a failed system, but it is a failed system. You cannot compare the content of most programs in Nigeria with what is obtainable in the western world. It is what I have experienced. We are made to study under pressure. And majority of those contents are outdated. Whether you like it or not our educational system has failed woefully.

Hello everyone,
Please, I seriously have challenge with IELTS and dont know what to do. Several attempt for the exam and my score seems not to make any difference. First attempt LRSW: 5.5,5,6.5,6.5. Second attempt: LRSW: 5.5,6.0,6.5,6.5. Now, I do undertstand that I need min of 8777 to achieve my goal... Please, what can I do people. I will appreciate you people advice. Thanks

Another thing I would like to point out to you is this: when posting on social media ensure that you write correct English. The problem with majority of us is that we are too used to internet English and this affects our writing a lot.

If I say yes... it asks for UCI num. but someone said the UCI num that has CANxxxxxx is a dummy one so which do I put there?

your UCI number will be on the rejection letter issued to you by CIC.

in my own opinion, submission is not slavery. like the yorubas will say 'orun o kin n wo o'. because you say okay to what the man said does not make you a slave.
when you marry who is really meant for you, you will not be clamouring for equality. even here in nigeria, the husband also shares the chores with the wife. a sane mane will know that those chores are not easy for the woman alone because they both have to work, so he helps out in the house, just as the woman also helps out with the bills.
if helping each other out is what you are used to here in nigeria then you would not have to fight over it when you are abroad talkless of divorce.
the bible is clear about the whole issue that the husband is the head and wives must submit - but this does not mean that the wife is a slave or someone that can be maltreated.
when a woman understands her husband, she would not clamour for equality, and when the man understands his wife he would not clamour for authority. but they both know when to air their views.
but we should all that whatever decision we take affects our children. as someone who has worked with different children, children from broken homes are not happy and majority of them are the ones that give the society problems in future.
so think about these children at the end of the day.

my two cents

Why not go back to school. unless u want to be duped by these so-called agents with ur desperation to travel. make good use of ur money by going to school since u have a secondary school certificate. or u can try securing an ission into a foreign university.

Oh! Thank you but why another evaluating body?

If you check cic website the guidelines are there that these evaluating bodies follow so it doesn't matter whether you have HND and NCE CIC carefully states that one must be 3yrs+ and the other at least a year. So use ICES.

IRCC now accepts TCF! You can do it on your own but attending classes meant mainly for the French tests is much better. However, you do most of the learning yourself.

I chose courier just to be on a safe side after someone posted the delay he encountered when the mail wasn't sent via the appropriate channel (registrar).i just felt the difference is just 3days so it's better to play safe.
Mine is Faculty of Arts and i just processed it, no hitch so far.

Hi house, pls help me answer this question.
I want to do my Masters credential with WES. I know I need to confirm my secondary school certificate. The issue here is I used combine results neco and waec to enter uni for my first degree. I have done Neco verication but do I need to do weac verification too because I have in mathematics in my Neco. Is Wes concern with my grade. Tnx

if your masters is not from a foreign institution then go for ICES then you would not have to worry about WAEC or NECO

On this IELTS issue...my two cents.

1. Stick to a FEW practice materials! The number of materials for IELTS that we see on a daily on this thread can be overwhelming. Try out only a few and stick to the one that resonates with you. Don't use ieltsliz, Jay, Cambridge, ieltsadvantage, road2ielts etc at the same time (some of these peope don't agree on the same approach and reading all can get really confusing). If you try one and it sits well with you, ditch others. Focus on that one and be a master of it. I almost got overwhelmed at some point, because l wanted to open every link or try every material l saw here. But l had to give myself brain oh.

2. Practise everyday. No excuses. Create the time. Even at work, you can use your lunch break to practise. Instead of listening to music or radio on your way to work, listen to your ed tips on writing, speaking, reading, listening. When walking down the streets, have an earpiece on (l hate this, but we can make sacrifices for one month abi?) and keep LISTENING. At weekends, practice speaking with your wife/husband, friend, son/daughter etc. Write out questions and tell them to ask you (under exam conditions). I finished a WHOLE 30 leaves notebook for listening practice (yeah l work an 8 to 5 and live on the mainland with my office on the island -, no excuses!). Always check your wrong answers and replay those portions and find out what you didn't hear properly. I used youtube for listening/speaking/reading.

3. There's this ielts expert too, one Ryan (cannot his surname) that l think is underrated. I used his tips for writing. He talks about 15 sentences max for writing. 3 paragraphs with 4 sentences and the closing paragraph should have 3 sentences. This keeps you in check and you already know what to write before the exam, all you will be waiting for on the ielts day is the topic given! I can share his materials if you drop your email address.
For writing, write letter and essays! Don't read what someone else wrote. Write yours too. Some people practise writing by reading another's work -WRONG! write yours too and compare. Minimum letters to write on different topics - 10. Minimum essays - 20. Revise your work and look for better ways to reconstruct your sentences. I suggest you write with pencil on your exam day so you can erase if need be.

4. For reading - use youtube. It also has a timer, so practice using the time and don't stop the timer or pause the video. The easiest comprehension in reading are the first two. Spend less time there. Say 5 mins tops for each. You do not need to UNDERSTAND nada. Just look at the instructions (very important), then the questions, then scroll through the ages for the answers. You need all your time for the last two ages. They are more technical.

5. For speaking - Be confident, relaxed and know your basic english and introduction (see ieltsliz). See this as an interview. We all attend interviews don't we? I got a list of 42 likely cue cards from ieltsliz blog (l think she said they change it every 3 months but she always update the cue card questions) and l practiced the 42 different topics and l always set my two minutes timer with my phone. You can be in the BRT or your car and practice this one, or when walking down the street or whilst doing chores at home, or lying down in your bed doing nothing (l did this. Some days, people will think you are going crazy because you are talking to yourself, but...who no go no know). One of the 42 questions l practiced was my cue card during my speaking test -something on my pet animal (l was wondering "madam why me? Animal kwa?" but because l had practised earlier, the examiner had to cut me off when it was two minutes. I just went on and on.

4. Lastly and certainly not the least...the place of PRAYER. I'm catholic, so when l saw the prayer to St. Joseph of Cupertino here, l made a mental note to say it. I started saying it every day from September till i wrote my exam on the 1st of November. I even added a 9 days St. Joseph of Cupertino novena with prayer and fasting which ended on the 31st of October (l'm that extra oh. I left no chances). I asked my family to add me in their prayers too. So, pray, pray and pray. Whatever works for you. Someone dropped one St. prayer here on financial assistance for POF, best believe l'll look for that prayer and do it too!

5. People have done it, you too can. Don't be discouraged if you have tried more than once. We don't give up on this thread oh. Being here has taught me a different level of selflessness and never say never spirit. People you don't even know are quick to help and empathise and l am still in awe of you guys.

6. Please drop your email address so l can send the Ryan materials to you.

This too shall !

All the best everyone and my apologies for the long post.

I am not a catholic but this 3 prayers were useful to me and my family .

Wrote IELTS with just about few days preparation, nursing 11 month old twins and working in a busy dept yet i cleared it once. I recited the Saint Joseph of Cupertino prayer and my level of confidence was so high that I got home telling hussy " I think i will miss only one question in Reading"....result was 8.5.

POF ..... Saint Jude prayer for financial assistance...two days after that prayer His miracle came forth seamlessly.

Then at the point of submission...we held hands....5 of us... sang and prayed.

The 3days Holy spirit prayer comforted us that it will end in praise.
