Updates: By- Promise Emmanuel- Live from Lokoja The Students are in mixed moods of jubilation and frustration as placards and other forms of protest images are swung left, right and about in the ongoing students protests at Kogi State capital, Lokoja. Many other students are ing up. Aluta songs are in glaring decibels. Few minutes ago, The Commissioner of Police, Yakubu Usman. SSG to the Governor, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade and Commissioner for Education J.S Tolorunleke just left the scene of protests as students remained avid in their request of meeting only the state Governor, Yahaya Bello. We also just got wind of ASUU' delegates being on their way to Lokoja. According to the Student Union Government President' Comrade Philip Omepa, the invitation was to show clearly that Students are not protesting against anybody or taking sides as what they want for both parties to return to negotiation table. The Public Relations Officer of SUG, Comrade Cosmos Ogiri, lamented the missed signals the protest might be sending, he however assured all watchers that the SUG only wants the school to be settled for academic activities. He said "anybody that would think we haven't been patient for 3 good months doesn't have a conscience. What do we have to do? Just what?!", he lamented. A student at the site of protest, Enema Ilemona also lent his opinion on the issue, he remarked "This is the first time in my life I think we have an SUG. The fact is that both Government and ASUU have their own facts and points, but what is our own point?", he said. Another demonstrator said "It's high time Lecturers and Government realise that we are not immovable objects. They've been tossing us up and down to side with them with their persuasive positions. We are tired, we can't side anybody. Government has tried, ASUU too have tried. We only want to resume and graduate", he said. At the time of filing this report, the demonstration is relatively peaceful as law enforcement agents are also present to monitor the situation. However, nothing has been heard from the Governor as Lokoja goes into flame of different mix of Aluta songs. |

UPDATE: Information reaching me from the office of the vice President, SUG, has it that ASUU are on their way to Lokoja. |

sweetyme001: Darling, it appears that you've lost touch with reality, please get your facts right before posting and showcasing your ignorance to the whole world. The government came out to say they have been enable to meet just 80% of the lecturers demands minus their academic earned allowances and rather than employing a diplomatic approach, the governor and government have chosen to opt in for threat. Please, where did you get your 95% statistics from? Did you actually say the salaries are not owned by him? Maybe you're right, the salaries are owned by Kogi state government and the last time I checked, he runs the government. If he can inherit votes of an Igala man, then, he should equally be ready to inherit debts of another Igala. You see why you should get your facts straight? You missed it again by saying students didn't protest last year when ASUU went on strike during Wada's era. A massive protest was held in Anyigba which directly or indirectly led to the calling off the two months old strike then. I'll post pictures of the strike if I can lay my hands on any. Again, I wonder where you're just generating these figures from. Seriously, I wonder! Who says Ebira lecturers can't lecture because of their relatively low population? Like I previously said, it's not a must to be part of ASUU. If an Ebira lecturer who isn't part of ASUU calls for lecture, I'll surely attend. Sadly, however, it can't happen because they are equally affected by the non-payment of salaries and other legal entitlements. Lastly, if you claim Ebira lecturers for 5% percentage of the lecturer-force, I'll appreciate if you can equally provide us with the percentage of other tribes in the state and those outside the state. 1 Like |

sweetyme001: Let me educate you since Sango will do the striking on my behalf. First, what's the tribe of the ASUU-KSU chapter chairman? Igala abi? If you believe that the strike is ethnically motivated, then, tell the Ebira lecturers to go back to classroom, it's not by force to be part of ASUU. The right of freedom of association is provided by the 1999 constitution as amended. The government has meant 95% of ASUU's demands? Really? Shey na you do the calculation? Was it not during an Igala man government that ASUU went on strike last year? All the previous strikes embarked upon by ASUU which tribe was in power? Please, get educated! 3 Likes |

pinkrex: I want to believe that you're Emmanuel Promise, if yes, you're one journalist that I respect so much and I equally believe that you should know better the reason for my statement above. For long, KSU students have agitated for a peaceful demonstration of this kind but what did we get? Nothing! At a point, the President released a statement on his FB page challenging students who wanted a protest to start from their various departmental lecturers who request for slotting and sexually harass female students among others vices. Imagine such statement from a union President. I commend their effort at mobilising students for this t protest but I don't think the credit should go to them. I'll appreciate if you can include NANS in the thread title. PS: If this thread doesn't make front page, it will be in history that NL denied and left us when we needed it most. PS: May Sango strike anyone in advance that will come here to say the strike is ethically or politically motivated. CC: Mynd44 Seun Lalasticlala 1 Like |

diportivo: I repeat, the SUG is totally and completely inept. The protest was not organised by them, rather, they only ed the protest by NANS. |

Governor Yahaya Bello has succeeded in wasting three good months of our lives and still thinks he will make heaven. The Gods are angry; Sango, Oya, Obatala, Osun, Osumare, Osoosi, Orunmila, Ori, Olorun, Olukun, Oko, Oba, Ibeji, Esu, Erinle, Babaluaye, Aganju, and even more are mad with Kogi state government. Since becoming a student of KSU in 2012, twice I have paid for complete one year house rent and was forced to spend six months or less of this rent due to strike. Now, my house has expired and my landlord is calling already. What about the SUG? Those ones, there are totally inept, from the President down to the lowest official. How about NAKOSS, they have openly made it known that they've been compromised. Which sane Comrade goes on air to commend a government that has refused to give caesar what is caesar's? A government that threatened to sack lecturers demanding for their legal entitlements? A governor that happily inherited votes but sad to inheirt debts? If in the hypothetical Hobbesian State of Nature, those who worked get paid, why them such those who work in a democracy cum democratic state be deprived of their right? Why! I'm a student of KSU, a tired and frustrated one to the core. #ReOpenKSU #RightToEducation #PayKSULecturers #iStandWithMyLecturers 21 Likes |

jesbu: I once suffered similar fate with FirstBank around November/December last year though my own case was not with DCC. In my case, my was debited like three days after the initial amount for the transaction has been debited. I involved the authorities and with their assistance, I was refunded. I believe you've a very valid case since at the time of the transaction, DCC was allowed by your bank. 1 Like |

History of Political Thought has always been a deep discourse of reflecting concepts, ideas, theories, ideologies, and philosophies to the contemporary realities. It is however, far from being misused to instigate students' mentality and innate them into academic anarchical thought as to bastardize the policy direction and political orientation of political leadership. I think NUC should do more so that some lecturers will not use universities as avenues for promoting national disunity and academic parochialism + our teachers are far better than their teachers. |

JideSM: On the bonus, I said when I tried calling with it, I was being charged from my normal balance. My last recharge of 200NGN, I also received 20NGN as bonus but got charged from my main balance. If you know one can't use the bonus, there is no need giving one. |

Hello JideSM, My active BB subscription was to expire yesterday around some minutes 6PM, the day before that, I recharged my line with a thousand naira and called your helpdesk to confirm if I will be automatically re-subscribe to the plan so as to enjoy the three weeks extension as I had already been given a week extension on my last subscription and they assured me so. Sadly, even with over 1,000+ on my line, I received a text that my auto-renewal failed. I had no choice than to manually activate a new plan. Even more sad was that I was not given any extra week extension like before and the data as being regulated to 2GB as against what was obtainable before. Also, when I recharged my line, I was given a bonus of 50.00NGN but couldn't find it on line and when I called, I was charged from my normal balance. Kindly help me look into this. My number: 07030187784. Regards. |

Nice work brother. Though, I think the lip colour of Bello is too red for a guy and Olamide's upper lip is too dark also. For Davido, I didn't even recognise it was him. With D'ja, you killed it. What software was used? 1 Like |

Gunbiz: It's a long story, they tried playing a fast one on me and I involved the authorities. It's wasn't a funny experience for both parties but I learnt and gained a lot for the experience. The issue with scams most times, is the fact that banks are not usually willing to assist in the investigation, perhaps, they're trying to protect their customers' privacy. |

Arguably, the guy is the most professional scammer on NL, I strongly believe that he scam for a living. The same guy also impersonate me to scam Klexycole94 of a certain amount that I can no longer now. Some years ago, I was also a victim of scam by a female nairalander by name Panti, though, I don't have her time yet, when I'm ready, like I did to FirstBank, na IC go settle the matter. Let's just be careful. 1 Like |

Don't bother yourself brother. You probably got fooled by a family member or friend. Earlier today, MTN suffered some form of technical failure in their system which allowed their customers to fake calls using their customers' help desk number 180. You can read more about it online. 3 Likes 1 Share |
