kaey10:Then there is no need connecting You are going for the same course again in your graduate program. I’m talking of those that are doing courses that aren’t generally the same |

Mickeybook:I put “no specific reason given as i was given a generic denial letter” Keep it as short and simple, they know why they rejected a person no need for long story. And i honestly don’t know what “214 refusal means” I stayed at Bolton white, it’s a little pricey (50k) a night but there are less expensive rooms of 30k. It’s less than 15mins to the Embassy 2 Likes |

Xavious227: VISA APPROVED GUYS! Spring 2022 COA-28k Scholarship-4k Deficit- Covered by my Father Date: 30th September 2021 Location: Abuja Time of appointment:8:30 Not my first time going to the US Embassy( but was denied B1/B2 in 2018). This forum has been instrumental to my practice and information, so I had to just post mine for others to see. Got there by like 7:45, entered by like 9, but had to wait for like 2hrs 30mins extra cause i chose Lagos on my DS-160, but got appointment in Abuja (there was no space in Lagos). I was interviewed by a white man. Omo The guy really drilled me, but to the glory of God, i was well prepared and the holy spirit helped me to be eloquent. VO: Good morning, me your documents. ME: Good morning, How are you doing today? VO: Alright VO: Have you been to USA before? ME: Yes, a number times actually, I’ve been there about three times. VO: When last did you travel and why did you travel ME: 2016, Went with my family, It’s just for Holidays and a time for us to bond VO: What’s your highest degree? Me: I have a bachelors degree in anatomy VO: Where did you graduate ME: Babcock Uni VO: I can see you are going to St. cloud state University ME: Yes, that's right VO: For masters in biological sciences, but you did anatomy, So why this course? ME: Well biological sciences is a broad multidisciplinary course made up of different specialized field, and anatomy is just another aspect of this field. So me doing anatomy in my undergraduate gave me the foundation to succeed in this program. I’ll be specializing in neuroinformatics; as i’m interested in drug design & development against neurodegenerative diseases (The night before when i was rehearsing prior to this, something told me to learn how to link my undergraduate degree to what i’m going for and then what i plan to do with it. And that was the first major question asked) VO: Okay (Shakes head in affirmation, that’s good) VO: How did you get to know about this school? ME: I go to know about it from a lecturer of mine, He collaborated and has worked with another professor at that school (state the professors name). So when i decided i wanted to get a masters degree in USA, I checked out the school and luckily for me they had a program that aligned with my career goals. So i applied. VO: So, What will you be doing after your study? ME: I plan to apply and work at a top biotech/pharmaceutical company here in nigeria such as GSK, Roche, Emzor, where i’ll be trying to improve in drug design and development against neurodegenerative diseases such as alzheimer’s, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis parkinson’s. Also, I plan to work with NGOs and ministry of health to create awareness and improve treatment strategies/plan against these neurodegenerative diseases for the elderlys, that would be my quota for national development. And in the long run i’ll like to start up my biotech company which would be focused in neuroscience. VO: typing for a long time* wow that’s really excellent. So what do you do? ME: I’m a youth corper, currently finishing up my service. I serve in Enugu (stated where i serve), just flew in to Abj yesterday actually VO: I can see you got a scholarship? ME: Well yes, (tried to hand him the certificate for scholarship, *stops me* no no just tell me what’s it for) Ohh, it was given because i reached the academic standard and for cultural exchange as i’ll be adding diversity to the school, i didn’t apply for it tho. VO:Alright, *Points at the other name on the i-20* Who is this? ME: Ohh that’s my father, he will be the one funding the rest of my expenses VO: And what does he do? ME: He owns business that deal in importation, local production and distribution of clothing fabrics to private & government organizations. So he works with govt official such as army, police VO: *Interjects* Do you have any relatives or family member in the united states? Me: No, i do not. VO: Do you have friends in Minnesota? Me: No, I don’t VO: *types for longggggggg* well everything looks really good, I’ll be granting you your visa. *Hands me the white paper* Starts talking about Covid-19, asks me if i have been vaccinated ( which i have been ). And keeps talking about taking direct flights and blah blah blah......... I’ve seen a number of people that got easier/simpler questions; this was my prayer. Unfortunately i didn’t . I studied/rehearsed thoroughly. And God granted me the grace to find favor in the eyes of the consular officer and answer the questions audibly and without issues. It was just God, that's all I can say! Whatever way you are feeling about a question when you are preparing, do not ignore that feeling, cause if i had ignored that feeling and just prayed that God should not allow the question to be asked. I’ll be hooked!!! It’s better u are prepared and the question isn’t asked than you are asked and u are unprepared. Prepare like there is no God and pray like you did not prepare at all! Thank you all very much for all the help, this platform really helped me. 55 Likes 8 Shares |

Proposed Transcripts VO: What are you doing now Me: Currently finishing up my NYSC VO: Why are you going to USA? Me: I’m going for a Masters degree in biological sciences with specialization in neuroinformatics and neurophysiology at -Statetheschool- VO: how did you get to know about this school school? Me: From a Professor -statehisname- He’s a professor of -statehisfield- at the dept i applied to I have been an ardent follower and irer of his after I came across a number of articles that He published, which I used during my undergraduate thesis project. So when I decided to get a Masters degree in USA I checked what school he works in, and luckily for me they had a course which was in line with my career goals. I emailed him and told him about my research goals and he was happy to have me on board with him being my supervisor. VO: Really so what will you people be working on? Me: We will be concentrating on a number of neurodegenerative disease ( I’ll state some) and possible therapies to them, with our proposed research thesis being “Hippocampal modulation of synaptic plasticity in neurodegenerative diseases and development of therapeutic intervention using drug reposition strategies” VO: how many schools did you apply to? Me: I applied to three schools (MSU, St. cloud state, MVSU); I got into two. VO: why did you choose this program Me: I chose this program because, It’s a broad multidisciplinary program that integrates different fields and because my area of specialization is interdisciplinary (neuroinformatics & neurophysiology) I felt this course would be a perfect fit. VO:What’s your study plan? Me: “I’ll explain it in details” ( i’m assuming it is what courses & unit i’ll be doing for the coming semester and for the 2years, and what is required for me to graduate, *please if that isn’t what it is someone should explain what study plan is*) VO: why did you choose this school? Me: other than because I would love to work with Professor -statehisname- (tell them who he is incase this question comes before the previous one or that previous question isn’t asked), The program structure at the school are in line with my specialization and they also have numerous research opportunities. VO: why the United States, why not Nigeria?Don’t they offer biological sciences here? Me: While yes it’s true masters in biological sciences is offered in nigeria, my area of specialization isn’t offered anywhere in the country, coupled with the fact that it is more practical and experimental based and requires work in the labs and on the field which is different from the situation here in Nigeria as it is more class based. VO: why the United States? (why not Canada or UK ? or any developed country sha)? Me: The united states is no 1 for in-silico experimentation which was a defining factor for me. Coupled with the fact that the USA has more research opportunities than any other place in the world. VO: you got a scholarship? Me: no, it was an academic merit based on previous educational achievement and the strength of my application. VO: Sponsor and what does he do? Me: My father, he has businesses/companies (not sure which one to use here) that deals in importation, local production and distribution of clothing fabrics to both private and government organization (e.g schools, military, police). He is also an import consultant for different companies and owns numerous residential properties in Lagos as well as in Enugu which he rents out. VO: what will this program do for you (your career)? Me: It will give me the foundation needed to succeed in drug design and development . It also will equip me with the knowledge and skill to help improve treatment strategies against neurodegenerative diseases here in nigeria. Currently the life expectancy in Nigeria is relatively low compared to other countries, this neurological disease affecting the elderly is one of the factors that causes this low life expectancy. And it’s only the rich or well to do that can manage and treat these diseases. This would be my own quota to the development of nigeria. VO: What do you plan to do after your masters degree or plan to use this degree for? Me: I plan to apply and work at a non-entry level position at any top biotech/pharm company here in nigeria( state some places) and help in drug design and development against neurodegenerative diseases. Also I would love to work with Nigerian government (ministry of health) to help improve treatment strategies for the elderly against neurodegenerative diseases and ultimately in the long run start up my own biotech company which would concentrate on neuroscience. Please i need corrections on this, for possible things to leave out or to add or to modify Thanks xx 2 Likes 1 Share |

Can one use a port with just 8 months validity for US visa. I know it’s known that a persons port has to be 2 years to apply for F1 US visa, however i cannot renew my port if it isn’t within 6 months of expiration. My date has been set. I’ll definitely do a new port before i travel, but i just want to know if this will pose a problem to the consular officer

Please i need advice. On my ds-160 form i put in Lagos as intended place for my interview, however i couldn’t find a suitable date in Lagos. I was able to find one in abuja though. I emailed them and and they said i can still use the DS-160 form, but i might have some delays. So should i just do a new ds-160 form to get a new confirmation code or i should stick with this one ?

Hello house! I got ission to for masters to a school in the USA early this month (august). Just finished up all i need to do, paid my SEVIS fee, submitted my DS-160 form and paid the fee. However on trying to book an appointment, i found out the earliest day is June of 2022. The resumption date for my classes is early January 2022. I decided to try emergency/expedite appointment; but on reading the instructions to qualify for that the resumption date has to be within 60days. I’m bewildered as I would think 3months plus is more than enough time to get a visa appointment Please help!!!!!! |
