In Matthew 23:23, Jesus talks to the Pharisees, condemning them for tithing to the penny but neglecting the more important issues of justice, mercy and faith. He then goes on to tell them that they should in fact tithe, but that they shouldn't neglect the more important things. Jesus recognized the importance of keeping the tithe and we should, too.

When I think of Christians asking themselves whether "tithing" is commanded in the Bible, is an Old Testament or New Testament teaching, I wonder how many of these Christians "send back" the many scriptural blessings God has given His people in the Old Testament. How many people when they are blessed and given hope through the mention of God's works, words etc. through the Old Testament Scriptures say ‘I don't receive this or that blessing or confirmation because it's in the Old Testament'?"

Why Tithe?
by Creflo Dollar

Why do we do what we do? As Christians, we live according to the Kingdom of God, and in His Kingdom, tithing is a way of life. The issue of tithing is controversial because many people simply do not see the significance of honoring God with their finances. In addition, the enemy has tried everything he can to convince people that “all preachers want is your money.” This is a lie from the pit of hell! While there may be some bad apples in the bunch, this should not deter us from obeying God with our finances. Tithing is a Kingdom issue. It is how we honor God and activate His blessing on our lives. It is done out of love for Him. When we honor God with the tithe, we become connected to an empowerment to prosper in every area of our lives.

I have done many personal studies on the tithing question, and each time, I get more understanding about the subject and why it is so important to God. First, to tithe something means to give a tenth of it. As it relates to our finances, tithing is giving ten percent of all our financial income to God. It is giving a tenth of whatever money comes into our hands before taxes and other deductions are made. Contrary to what some Christians may believe, we do not give our tithes; we pay them to God because they already belong to Him. Once we pay our tithes, our offerings qualify as giving.
Tithing in the Old Testament can be traced back to Abraham and the High Priest, Melchizedek. Genesis 14:17 says:

And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

Abraham brought ten percent of the spoils he gained from the battle to the king of Salem. Because the hand and the presence of God were on Melchizedek, Abraham wanted to honor God with the tithe. As a result, there was an exchange that took place—Melchizedek received the tithe and released an empowerment to prosper on Abraham’s life by blessing him.

When we tithe, not only are we giving money to help advance the agenda of God’s Kingdom on the Earth, but we are also demonstrating our love for Him. It is not about a preacher forcing us to tithe, but it should be about having the attitude that says, “God has blessed me with finances, and I get to tithe as an expression of my love and gratefulness for what He has done in my life.” Tithing it is not about the money as much as it is about the blessing. And when we tithe, we become connected to everything God promises in His covenant.

Decryptor: My car has what is known as AIIM (Advanced Interactive Intelligence Modulation ...it allows the car to communicate and talk to me. It also has an in-built survellance system that records everything around it and a Central Navigation System which allows the vehicle to switch to auto-pilot in case of emergency situations like when i'm tipsy, or tired while driving. The car is also fitted with a GPS which allow it to keep tabs of routes and road ways it and any other vehicle will and has plied.
So with all this on my vehicle, if such a thing happens, the car will just use it's auxillary camera and take a picture of the note and forward it to my Android phone (my phone has an app which is synchronised to the car) after reading the note, i will order it to chase the vehicle and it will use the GPS to locate the road the vehicle has taken on which after catching up with it, it will use what is known as Evasive Eletro-magnetic Impulse to disable the person's car engine as long as the victim's car ha a VIN board which will bring his car to a stop pending on when i arrive the location.

And who told you God doesn't have right to call people working in Shell, Chevron, Mobil, why is it only poverty impoverished people that God calls..?

So much for our gullibility..

Only the truth can set us free, once we know it we have freedom. Gospel peddlers will never let you know that truth, because they want you to remain under-their-man-made bondage..

GOD CAN CALL ANYONE IRRESPECTIVE OF WHERE HE IS NOW. I DIDN'T MENTION ANY INSTANCE ABOUT WHO GOD CALLS OR NOT IN MY POST ABOVE!

THE ANSWER TO THIS IS RELATIVE AND BASED ON PERSPECTIVE OF THE PARTIES CONCERNED.

IF YOU ARE THE FOUNDER AND YOU ARE SURE OF YOUR CALLING, HE THAT HIRED YOU WILL PAY YOUR WAGES. GOD PAYS BETTER THAN ANY EMPLOYER.

IF YOU ARE A FOUNDER AND YOU EMPLOY OR HAVE PASTORS SERVING UNDER YOU, IT IS YOUR DUTY TO ENSURE THEY ARE PAID AND SATISFIED. DON'T MAKE THEM LOOK LIKE PEASANTS! THEY DESERVE THEIR WAGES AND SHOULD BE REMUNERATED.

tpapi: If dos playing d instruments are actually of the church den I think is crazy to pay dem

It's not crazy to pay them if that's their means of livelihood. You won't muzzle the ox that tread the corn..
wonderz(m): 9:19am On Nov 26, 2012
It depends on the structure within the church. If for any reason(s), there are not good instrumentalists among the choristers, the church can go to the extent of hiring professional instrumentalists and based on agreed , they are paid for their services. In that light, the church is putting food on the table for such people. On the contrary, there are professional instrumentalists that will offer their services for free in such occasions.
So depending on the scenario, the church will do as occasion serves right!!

eyejae: Just got my new port. The process was very easy, except it involved me travelling twice to London.

Because I got little or no info online on how to go about the renewal, I've decided to tell my own experience. Perhaps it could help someone.

These are the documents I took to my first appointment:

1) Copy of my completed and signed online application form
2) Copy of my acknowledgement slip
3) Copy of my payment confirmed slip
4) My old port
5) £20 Postal order
6) 2 photos

@eyejae
So you have to pay for new port?
What happened to extending the validity period on the port since it has not exceeded the 10 years lifespan??

Contrary to the info on the application form, there is no need to take 2 photos. This is because the HC would take your picture and biometrics there.

Very important: you have to go on the date of your appointment (as stated in your application form), whether or not that date is after the expiry date on your port.

I arrived at around 9:45am on the day of my appointment. There was a queue, but it moved very quickly. Some1 at the entrance checked my forms, and particularly highlighted my appointment date. Then, I was directed to a large room, where I was given a ticket number and simply waited until my number was called.

When called, I presented those documents I've listed and then waited again until I was called to go upstairs to do my biometrics + photo.

After this I was given another appointment date for the collection of my new e-port.

Very easy process. It took about 2 hours on my first appointment, and less than 45 minutes on my next.

By the way, I got this extra info from 1 of the officials there:

Those who are under 18 would need to include a guarantor’s form filled by their parents/guardian. They also have to include a photocopy of the guarantor’s port data page.

Also, very important: if you already have a Nigerian port and you did not get it in the UK, they would check for your visas. If they don't find any visa, they would ask you how and where you got your port.

There’s 1 more point that was made about the port for another category of people. Unfortunately, I do not it right now.

So, this is my experience. Hope it helps someone.

Cheers

How does this stop boko haram...eh

@the.game she's not wrong with the use of 'actor'..The word actor refers to a person who acts regardless of gender, and this term "is increasingly preferred", although actress, referring specifically to a female person who acts, "remains in general use".

Can you guys enlighten me? I'm already using the token for transactions. Why on earth will GTB still be requesting that an additional code be sent to my mobile? Is the token not secured enough?

This is not about BH. The board-room is in disarray. Do you expect the team to come to Naija with RVP? There are issues to be sorted out more important than staging a match missing key players.
