@Rockford, when you were applying for your dependent wife and children, did you have to show proof of funds for them? I'm thinking that the offer letter of the main applicant showing what he would be receiving as salary in Canada should suffice? What do you think? Please i would appreciate your quick response. Thank you.

@Rockford, thank you so much for your response. Please, since i would be applying for open work permit for my wife, does she need to submit employment references from her current and previous employers? rockford: |

chatterly: Why not go via Lufthansa,it is still cheaper than klm or emirates by at least 30k and the journey time is far less Are u sure Lufthansa is cheaper. My investigations show that Emirates is still the cheapest, although with longer hours. |

justwise: [/b] Thanks so much Justwise and all the others who have been very helpful on this thread. God bless you all. Justwise, please one more question, please which of the airlines offers the cheapest (and still comfortable) flight directly to London Heathrow? Plus, do you advise people to use travel agents to book flights? I ask because, it is at times difficult to know genuine websites of these airlines if one decides to book without an agent./ There is so much internet fraud these days. Thanks. |

Thanks so much Jidevince for your comments on my post below. Justwise, please what do you think? wolske: Hi Justwise and other nairalanders. Please, can one withdraw some money from one's after visa has been granted? I need to book my flight, but i'm confused as to whether i can withdraw from that to book my flight even after obtaining one's visa. Somebody told me that the UKBA continues to monitor the till you get to the uk. How true is this? Justwise, please your advice? |

In addition, wjhat are the documents that would be asked for at the point of entry? Is it true that a yellow fever immunization is a requirement for entry? |

Hello Justwise and other nairalanders. Is there anyone here who has taken the direct Arik flight from Lagos to London before? How good are their services? Their flights appear cheaper than other airlines, but how good are their services? Is the BA Lagos-Madrid-London route better? Can someone please advise on cheap but comfortable flights from Lagos to London? Thanks.

justwise: Hi Justwise you promised to get back to me regarding whether my wife can work while i do my Phd? |
![]() |
Hi Justwise. Just a quick question. I'm going for my Phd and i already have my visa. My wife also has her visa (she got the visa as my dependant partner.) I however noticed that while my own visa allows me 20 hours work per week during term time, my wife's visa says nothing about work, it just says "no recourse to public funds". Does this mean that my wife cannot do any work throughout the period of my Phd? I need a clear interpretation of the immigration rules on this question. Looking forward to your response. THANKS.

Justwise, please just another question. i noticed that many applicants usually put a lot of documents in their application. My understanding of the rules is that you are to include only documents mentioned in your CAS? Is this correct? My CAS mentions only my undergraduate transcript. Do i need to include other documents like WAEC certificate, NYSC certificate, e.t.c. I have seen some people on this thread saying they included this in their applications. My question is that, is this really necessary? Is it not better to just stick to what the CAS says? Thanks Justwise

Hi Justwise. Please is it okay if one has had the money in one's for more than 28 days? I have had the money in my for the past 40 days. I intend printing the statement out tomorrow. Is it okay? Also, is GTBank one of the banks recognised by the UKBA? Thanks.

Hello Nairalanders. Please i need information on Warwick university. Anybody here knows anything about the school? Ratings, social life, e.t.c? I'm going there in september with my wife and son and we will be needing a two bedroom flat. Is campus accomodation better than private accomodation? From most of the posts i've seen so far on this thread, there seems to be a general belief that campus accomodation is very very expensive. For Warwick, it appears a two bedroom flat on campus is like 800 pounds pcm. But i'm thinking that for a fresher like me, it's better to start of in campus accomodation and then get a private accomodation later when you know your way around. What do you think? Also are there Nigerian shops where one can get Naija foodstuffs in warwick? This is very important o. Please i will appreciate useful comments on these issues. Thanks in advance!

@Justwise, please i have a question. I deposited some money in my to cover my wife and baby's maintenance (i am on scholarship which pays my own tuition and maintenance). As you know this money is expected to stay in the for 28 days. The 28 days will end next week. Suddenly i received an alert from my bank indicating that the bank credited my with some interest on the money in my . Now i'm a little worried because my understanding of the UK Visa rules is that no form of transaction is to take place on one's during the 28 days period. is this truly the case?
