Lilkalifaa:

I was in this same boat. I submitted since 20th October but I've picked up mine today. I went to their office on Wednesday to find out what's going on and they said it wasn't yet ready because of the Uk/US embassy alert. By yesterday's evening they sent me a message to come pick it up.

@Lilkalifaa, did you also receive emails containing your counterfoil and Letter of introduction in your CIC ? If so, did the emails come prior to the time you picked up your port or after?

MumTee:
Try and renew if you can, find a in Immigration offices in Ilorin, Akure etc to have a shorter port processing time, then when you get port request, you will submit both old and new.

To renew over there in Canada, u will have to go to Ottawa to do it, depending on ur location in Canada, that might cost you about 1,000CAD or more (flight, hotel, port fee etc)

MumTee, have you got your port back?

talk2Prince, how far? Have you collected your port? Please can you send me your email or phone number? I'll like to have a chat with you. Thanks in advance.

I submitted on Oct 21st too and ports yet to be returned. I tried to track online but says it has been submitted to Canada Visa office. So i chatted VFS agents and they said they are yet to receive ports that were submitted Oct 21st back from the Embassy. Same thing when i sent a mail to enquire, the response was "your parcel is not ready for pickup"

I guess its a general challenge, could be the delay came from issues around the security alerts the US embassy put up sometimes ago. Maybe their embassy staff had to also leave or go into hiding temporarily during the security threats.

We can only wait on them, meanwhile flight tickets are rising. I am beginning to consider going ahead to purchase tickets as price has increased by over 800k for us since receiving PP request.

Any update? Have you heard from them? I think this issue is being experienced by those who submitted in Lagos VFS.

Went to VFs this morning to check on my port and it was not ready for pick up. Minutes after leaving, I got a mail that my application with tracking number…….. has been dispatched from IRCC Abuja office to Canada visa application Center. Does this mean my port is ready for pickup?

When did you submit? And did you submit at the Lagos VFS?

I submitted port in Lagos Vfs office today

Please how long did it take for your stamped port to be returned to you?

Please I received this email from vsf but I have my bio in Lagos what is going to happen and still yet have not received my port. Thus I send it from Lagos, when should I be expecting it.

Hello. Any update on this?

Profgordons:

Oga there is nothing like that. Just send your package to Abuja that’s still the fastest processing location. Putting yourself in a tight corner sometimes doesn’t make sense, getting the PPR is what was most important than a travel date

How long does it take if port is submitted for stamping at VFS Lagos?

@Rockford, when you were applying for your dependent wife and children, did you have to show proof of funds for them? I'm thinking that the offer letter of the main applicant showing what he would be receiving as salary in Canada should suffice? What do you think? Please i would appreciate your quick response. Thank you.
wolske: 11:02am On Jul 24, 2022
@Rockford, thank you so much for your response. Please, since i would be applying for open work permit for my wife, does she need to submit employment references from her current and previous employers?

rockford:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/permit/temporary/global-skills-strategy.html

If you don’t need an LMIA, you will be eligible for two-week processing if you meet all of these requirements:

you are applying from outside Canada
your job is either skill type 0 (managerial) or skill level A (professional) in the National Occupational Classification system
your employer has submitted an offer of employment using the Employer Portal and paid the employer compliance fee
wolske: 8:45pm On Jul 15, 2022
@Rockford How do we do our medicals upfront? I thought one was supposed to wait until he is asked to go for medicals?
wolske: 8:42pm On Jul 15, 2022
@rockford, please i have an offer of a 2 year Postdoctoral Fellowship in one of the Universities in Canada. I am LMIA exempt. I plan to go with my wife and children. I plan to apply for a work permit soon. Does this qualify for a two-weeks processing?

Hello Nairalanders. Who knows when next the Governing Council of Unilag will be meeting? They have not met since May.

Hello Nairalanders, sorry if my question sounds stupid; please how do i continue to interact with my friends on BBM when i leave Nigeria for the UK? Would it be possible to keep using my MTN or would i have to buy another line for it in the UK? what line would you recommend?

chatterly: Why not go via Lufthansa,it is still cheaper than klm or emirates by at least 30k and the journey time is far less

Are u sure Lufthansa is cheaper. My investigations show that Emirates is still the cheapest, although with longer hours.

adaobi123: Lagos to London through Dubai ?

That's long.

Have you tried klm or lufthansa ?

@adaobi123, thanks for your comments, but emirates appears to have the cheapest flight apart from arik. And i dont want to fly arik.

Please can anyone who has taken the emirate flight from Lagos to London tell us what the experience was like i.e quality of service provided by airline? is it worth it booking an emirate flight from Lagos to London? Thanks

justwise: [/b]

Definitely you can do that, there is no prob with that.

Thanks so much Justwise and all the others who have been very helpful on this thread. God bless you all. Justwise, please one more question, please which of the airlines offers the cheapest (and still comfortable) flight directly to London Heathrow? Plus, do you advise people to use travel agents to book flights? I ask because, it is at times difficult to know genuine websites of these airlines if one decides to book without an agent./ There is so much internet fraud these days. Thanks.

Thanks so much Justwise for your comments. But my bank statement was not returned to me when i collected my visa o. Is this the case with every other person? Will it be okay if i print out a new bank statement as long as the figure does not go below the required amount?

Justwise please i'm still waiting for your response to the above o. Please it's important.

justwise:

Sure you can withdraw some money for your flight, they don't monitor your until you get to the UK, the 7200 pounds is your money to use in the UK, whatever you do with it is your business

You don't need any yellow fever, if at all you need one it will be carried out at the POE, i doubt UKBA will trust any yellow fever paper you brought from Nigeria since we are good at forging anything.

Hold your CAS letter, bank statement (the one you submitted during visa application) in case you are asked.

Thanks so much Jidevince for your comments on my post below. Justwise, please what do you think?

wolske: Hi Justwise and other nairalanders. Please, can one withdraw some money from one's after visa has been granted? I need to book my flight, but i'm confused as to whether i can withdraw from that to book my flight even after obtaining one's visa. Somebody told me that the UKBA continues to monitor the till you get to the uk. How true is this? Justwise, please your advice?

In addition, wjhat are the documents that would be asked for at the point of entry? Is it true that a yellow fever immunization is a requirement for entry?

Hello Justwise and other nairalanders. Is there anyone here who has taken the direct Arik flight from Lagos to London before? How good are their services? Their flights appear cheaper than other airlines, but how good are their services? Is the BA Lagos-Madrid-London route better? Can someone please advise on cheap but comfortable flights from Lagos to London? Thanks.

I need to check that and get back to you because i ed reading about changes to that sometime ago.

Hi Justwise you promised to get back to me regarding whether my wife can work while i do my Phd?
wolske: 11:33pm On Aug 12, 2013
Hi Justwise. Just a quick question. I'm going for my Phd and i already have my visa. My wife also has her visa (she got the visa as my dependant partner.) I however noticed that while my own visa allows me 20 hours work per week during term time, my wife's visa says nothing about work, it just says "no recourse to public funds". Does this mean that my wife cannot do any work throughout the period of my Phd? I need a clear interpretation of the immigration rules on this question. Looking forward to your response. THANKS.
wolske: 7:09pm On Jul 16, 2013
Justwise, please just another question. i noticed that many applicants usually put a lot of documents in their application. My understanding of the rules is that you are to include only documents mentioned in your CAS? Is this correct? My CAS mentions only my undergraduate transcript. Do i need to include other documents like WAEC certificate, NYSC certificate, e.t.c. I have seen some people on this thread saying they included this in their applications. My question is that, is this really necessary? Is it not better to just stick to what the CAS says? Thanks Justwise

Hi Justwise. Please is it okay if one has had the money in one's for more than 28 days? I have had the money in my for the past 40 days. I intend printing the statement out tomorrow. Is it okay? Also, is GTBank one of the banks recognised by the UKBA? Thanks.

@Justwise. Please what is the general success rate of t visa applications for an offer holder and his dependants. I noticed we don't really have too many comments on such issues on this thread. Thanks .

Hello Nairalanders. Please i need information on Warwick university. Anybody here knows anything about the school? Ratings, social life, e.t.c? I'm going there in september with my wife and son and we will be needing a two bedroom flat. Is campus accomodation better than private accomodation? From most of the posts i've seen so far on this thread, there seems to be a general belief that campus accomodation is very very expensive. For Warwick, it appears a two bedroom flat on campus is like 800 pounds pcm. But i'm thinking that for a fresher like me, it's better to start of in campus accomodation and then get a private accomodation later when you know your way around. What do you think? Also are there Nigerian shops where one can get Naija foodstuffs in warwick? This is very important o. Please i will appreciate useful comments on these issues. Thanks in advance!

@Justwise, please i have a question. I deposited some money in my to cover my wife and baby's maintenance (i am on scholarship which pays my own tuition and maintenance). As you know this money is expected to stay in the for 28 days. The 28 days will end next week. Suddenly i received an alert from my bank indicating that the bank credited my with some interest on the money in my . Now i'm a little worried because my understanding of the UK Visa rules is that no form of transaction is to take place on one's during the 28 days period. is this truly the case?
