The Ministry of Education is inviting applications for Mandarin Language Enrichment Scholarships. Scholarships are available for pursuing undertake Huayu courses at a ed Mandarin Language Center approved by the MOE.

The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage international students (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao SAR students are not eligible) to undertake Huayu courses in the Republic of China (Taiwan); in order to provide them with opportunities to increase their understanding of Taiwanese culture and society, and to promote mutual understanding and interactions between Taiwan and the international community.

SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION:

A Monthly stipend of 25,000 NTD.

JAMB has prohibited 2018 UTME candidates from coming to the exam hall with some items. If you are writing this exam, don’t go to exam hall with these (5 things).

The 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is around the corner, and as part of efforts to curb malpractice in the examination, JAMB has set new strategies in place.
According to JAMB, CCTV cameras and electronic jammers will be installed across all CBT centres in the country to deactivate mobile networks.
JAMB has also announced that all lens detectors will also be made available in all centres to check all eyeglasses.

Due to these new strategies, the t ission and Matriculation Board has banned and warned candidates from coming to centres with these items.

1. Wristwatches.
JAMB says it has discovered that during the conduct of the 2017 UTME, electronic devices including wristwatches and other devices were used to perpetrate examination malpractice.

“So, for next year, (2018) we have banned the use of wristwatches and pens by candidates and other persons in the examination hall. JAMB said.

2. Writing materials
There is no need to go to exam hall with pens, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners since the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is now computer based.

3. Spectacles(Eye Glass)
Any candidates going for the 2018 UTME is not expected to wear spectacles as JAMB listed eyeglasses as part of the banned items.
This according to JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede is the reason the exam body install lens detector in all CBT centres.

He said, “the lens detectors will also be made available at all centres to find out the status of all eyeglasses if a candidate or anyone must go in with it.

4. Mobile phone
Your mobile phone too is not allowed to be taken to the CBT centres. According to JAMB, your phones will be deactivated if you bring it to the exam hall.
To all the CBT centres, the rule this year is that electronic jammers will be installed across all the centres to deactivate all mobile phone networks because we have seen what many of them have done with phones and other electronic tools”

5. Calculators
Just like other electronic devices, JAMB has banned the use of calculators in the UTME exam hall.

The t issions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended registration for the unified tertiary matriculation examination till Sunday 11th February, by 12 midnight.

The exam board said registration for Direct Entry candidates continues.
JAMB Head of Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, made the announcement in a statement after a meeting with directors of the agency on Tuesday, in Abuja.

The statement reads: “The t issions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announces the extension of registration for 2018 UTME till midnight of Sunday, 11th February, 2018.

“JAMB as a responsive organization has taken the decision albeit with great hesitation to accommodate candidates who failed to between the two months window period that ended at midnight of Tuesday, 6th February, 2018.

“The failure of these candidates to is unfortunate and the board hastens to add that this culture of impunity will not be tolerated and indeed penalty may be imposed for late registration in future.

“UTME candidates are therefore strongly advised to take advantage of the extension to as request for further extension would not be entertained.”

The Irish Cancer Society wishes to invite eligible candidates to submit an Expression of Interest application for the Biomedical Research Scholarship Programme 2018.
The objective of the Irish Cancer Society Biomedical Research Scholarship Programme is to offer excellent science, medical, nursing and other allied healthcare graduates the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in cancer research.

During the four year programme, Scholars will undertake general and cancer specific training, as well as participating in structured PhD programmes, and will have the opportunity to gain experience at an international research institution.
Applications in the areas of basic or translational biomedical research with a focus on developing a better understanding of novel approaches to cancer are welcome.

Please note: Applications in the areas of prevention, early detection and drug discovery will not be considered at this time.

SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION:

Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue a doctoral degree programme.

Scholarship Award:
The total value of the Irish Cancer Society Research Scholarship covering stipend, fees, materials and dissemination will be up to €32,000 per year for a maximum of four years. Additionally, mobility funding of up to a maximum of €7,000 for travel to a national or (preferably) international research institution in furtherance of advancement of the research project aims, over the course of the programme, should be included in the application.
A further fund, up to a maximum of €2,000 will also be available in the final year of the Scholarship towards dissemination of research in a high impact journal. This funding is separate to the travel and dissemination budget which must be detailed in the budget section of the application.
In their final year, the successful scholar will need to apply for this dissemination funding in advance of the planned publication. Each application (scholar mobility element and dissemination awards respectively) will be reviewed before a funding decision is made.

You must not be ed for a PhD prior to application.
This must be your first PhD.
You must complete the PhD at an Irish Institution.
The proposed PhD project must have 2 Supervisors, both of which are active under the supervision of the work.
One Supervisor must be based at the proposed host institute and have a minimum of 5 years post-doctoral experience and hold a contract that covers the period proposed for the PhD.
The other supervisor must have a minimum of 1-year post-doctoral experience

English Language Requirements: If English is not your first language then you will need to show that your English language skills are at a high enough level to succeed in your studies.

Application Procedure:
Prior to applying, you must read this document through to completion. You must identify two suitable Research Supervisors, and discuss the proposed Research Project with these Supervisors before completing the application form.
The Scholarship application should be initiated by the Applicant, with strong input from the Supervisors throughout. The application must NOT be written by the Supervisors alone. Applicants who will be invited to attend the interview stages of assessment must display an in-depth knowledge of the proposed research project and demonstrate the ability to think independently. I have heard many say that JAMB Will not use past question to set Exam this year. Some are also saying that its valueless to use JAMB Past question to study for or prepare for Exam.

To cut it short, they are all lies. Why? Jamb started setting questions since almost 20 years and since then, they have set all the question there is to set for a particular subject or course.

JAMB subject topics are not changing every year, they are all static and constant. this means that all the questions that JAMB may have set from all those topics are all still valid and since there is no new topic, it means there is no more new question for them to set.
