I actually applied for a PhD program in one of the private university at Sao Jose do Campus ed with a fully funded scholarship.
Documents presented:
1.Visa application form
2. Online form signed
3. port page
4. Bank Statement
5. Flight ticket including itinerary
5. Self Letter of introduction
6. Letter of introduction from my University which affirm that I am an academic staff of the University.
7. Accommodation/Hotel reservation.
8. Degree certificates which must be notorized
9. Visa Fees printed
8. Authorization message from the embassy
The last one which is very important was missing and I was told to submit it which is the police character certificate which must be notorized.
NB: My visa was approved for just five working days as at the time I submitted the police character certificate.

Both are good but if I was in that situation I will choose mexico. Even though the Brazilian port is stronger than the Mexican port, Mexicans can work in the US on the same visa that Canadians use to work in the US. If you are a highly skilled professional with a Mexican port it's very easy to get a job in the US and make a lot of money for your family. Mexican citizens only need to live in Spain for two years to get Spanish citizenship and Spain has one of the strongest ports in the world. Spains economy isn't all that but once you get the port you can move to richer EU countries to work like Switzerland or Norway. I will do it in mexico. You get your pr immediately after giving birth, your kids become citizens and you can be a citizen 2 years after being a PR holder.
