If you drop legal cover, and a claim goes to litigation (I hope you have a legal fighting fund of almost Β£60,000, under your pillow)..... πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

Don't get breakdown cover via your vehicle insurance, get it independently or sign up through your bank (breakdown cover, is not important, till you breakdown)..... 😭😁
Is legal cover same as motor legal expenses?
Is motor legal expenses that is in my cover details.

I knew the bromance between trump & elon, would come to an abrupt end....... Sanity would slowly return to the world....... 🀣😁

Also, a court blocked trump from imposing new tariffs...... Commonsense, slowly prevailing...... πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Except that the end wasn't abrupt. He served his tenure as SGE.

Well said. Economic mobility cant be understated

You can still run a business though limited to 20hrs. Depending on your field, if your invoice for job done is not based on hours put in, then the 20hr limit becomes a vague limit. When done properly, the benefits of being incorporated are good. I can't see myself returning to a fulltime PAYE job

How does this work if there were no visa restrictions?

Even in the Uk, there is nothing as absolute rights to be British citizen. It could be withdrawn from you under certain circumstances.

Thanks for this comment.

This just shows that you need to start living the kind of life you will live when you become a citizen because becoming a citizen may not change much.

Point is I’m surprised anyone thinks that the freedom to change careers/employers at will is not a serious thing to not have for 5 additional years.

In the post you quoted, did you read where I said this was the major issue or you're not referring to me by the bolded?

I believe the lessons are being learnt: seen so many posts on TikTok telling immigrants to save and channel their investments back home since those announcements.

At least, all those "Home is where you are" statements have stopped. grin

Let's say I'm from Edo state, after saving and I want to channel my investments back home, should I go to a commercial city like Lagos, PH or I should go home?
After getting to my state, should I invest in the commercial hub or go home to my local government?
After getting to my LGA, should I continue to my local council and eventually to my compound?

As you may have witnessed, even within Nigeria, people are asking people to go home and invest and stop developing another man's land.

Last last home is where you are, what you need for safety/assurance is diversification.

Bro sorry to ask but what is all these fuss about the extended residency permit issue? 5 years extra and so what? If you get your British residency in 5 years, most probably you would have stayed extra 5 years or more anyway from observation.
So why the worry?
Most guys I know who migrated to US, Canada and UK have all been staying there years after getting their ports, I hardly know anyone who came back home finally, so waiting for 10 years, working and paying your taxes looks no different to me.

Exactly, I'm just reading all the comments.

If we all get ILR today, besides benefits that we shouldn't plan our lives around, what else is there. I really do not see any difference between how I live my life now and how I will live it post ILR. Everything I would do as a citizen I'm already doing.

The major issue I see is renewal fees and limited choice in changing jobs/career which could lead to exploitation and dissatisfaction.

How does named (additional driver) work in car insurance policy?

I am the experience driver and I want to add my wife to the policy as she will start driving. Which will give me cheaper ? Taking the policy in my name and adding her as additional driver or taking the policy in her name and adding myself as additional driver?

I had a friend that brought a maid from Nigeria, she was with them for over 7 years..... They treated her almost better than they treated themselves and their kids.......

The Judas in maid, still struck husband and wife..... They both went down for 36 & 49 months respectively....... πŸ™„

Many of us don't/won't even stay up to 7yrs before getting ILR after which you can just walk away. Why should it take 7+ years and Govt intervention in their case? Was the love so massive that the plan was for her to be a lifetime maid? A plan they won't want for their children.

This is always the outcome, majority of the time.......

NEVER stylishly bring a maid from Africa..... They would ruin your existence...... πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‚

She ruined herself, except the story is false.

People that have had to pause or delay their careers because of childcare don't have sense, is she that have sense that went to bring maid.

I keep saying it, whoever likes the African lifestyle too much should just remain there, you shouldn't come here and want to live like you're still there.

@Lexus - have you seen this? The UN judge/slave master has been jailed for 6 years!

The victim has also been granted asylum in the UK.

If this news spread, people may come forward πŸ˜€... because there definitely will be more of this kind of thing. The victims just need someone to give them courage.

Whoever thought that Trump will not be happy when the citizens realise they are the ones paying the tariffs. This single move by Amazon to include the tariff difference on prices of items is a big blow to him and he's clearly not happy. People are suggesting it should be labelled trump tax.

New financial year begins today....

Have you maxed out your LISA for the 2025/2026 financial year?

I maxed out today.... entering USA stock market this week.....buy 1 and pick 5 free....

You maxed out Β£20k, nice.

What's the difference between having the 20k in your bank and putting it in ISA (besides investing it in shares)?

My parents arrived five days ago, but they were initially denied boarding at MMA because I had purchased a one-way ticket for them. I had to quickly buy a return ticket before they were permitted to board, and they almost missed their flight. Interestingly, upon arrival in Manchester, no questions were asked about their tickets. To avoid any issues, I strongly advise you get a return ticket

Mine came 3 days ago, was initially denied till I got a return ticket. At Heathrow, no questions asked.

Seen Lexus's response to the possible reason for the bolded.

If you don't present a return ticket with VV, you WOULD be denied boarding, let's assume you scale through at your departure airport, you would not through at any UK airport...... And the airline that brings you in, would also be fined, used to be Β£2000 (might have increased)....

Buying one leg is more expensive, why are you considering that route.......

Because of situations at home, we wanted to leave the return open so that given one week or even 3 days notice, we can just book the return without the stress of cancelling and rescheduling an existing one.

For a visitor visa, is the return leg ticket required before the visitor is allowed to board (any airline). Also at the point of entry in Heathrow, will the return leg ticket be demanded?

Why do you want to park in long stay........
2 to 3 hours for a pick up.....

Why not park close to the macdonalds on Bath Road, monitor flight, then enter short car park, 70 mins after landing....... 😁

Thanks for this suggestion... I just checked the short stay and it'll be cheaper for such short hours.

Why can't some people abandon this and cope how others are coping.... Or instead bring parents intermittently

You see some people, if given free hand, the kind of slavery they'll practice will sur the ones our ancestors experienced in the hands of the white man.

Is there a way to get cheap parking at London Heathrow Airport? Minimum I'm seeing in the long stay parking is around Β£35 even though I might not be there for more than 2 to 3hrs to do a pickup.

Perhaps too much docs confused the case officer but it’s ridiculous giving fraudulent documents as a reason for refusal. I’ll suggest you a lawyer to help out. Don’t do it all by yourself cos you need to clear your name and reputation

This is the point I was trying to make. In the light of overwhelming docs, he will start looking for what is not missing.

Yes it was about 2 to 3 months after their birth. It was gotten from NPC in our local health center. We submitted family photos, school reference letter from heaster and principal, school receipts and school transcipt and result, bank transactions and statement, plus letter from our parish priest, estate chairman/sectary and family doctor..

Sorry to hear about this. I don't have experience with this particular scenario but my contribution is next time what you need for wife is marriage certificate (where available) and for children, birth certificate. In my experience, every other docs is not necessary and would only raise suspicions.

I want to travel with my family, why do I need the vetting of my estate chairman.

Thanks so much for your time and explanation.
The explanation is just the inflows and outflow from her , she uses FBN mobile for transactions but it just adds ref no instead of the description she puts and there are some income(friends/family gifts) without description too.
Her balance is not empty it is the balance I am thinking of putting as the savings amount

As for using petty trading she has no evidence of business or business activities and as you said I am trying to avoid situauions and explanations.

Don't worry yourself about the description in bank statement.
Giving this explanation will draw the attention of the VO and create an issue where there is supposed to be none. Except you think there is a suspicious amount that should be explained.

Hello house pls I need clarity on a few things applying for a visiting visa for my Mum

1. Can the details of activities in her bank statement/ be explained in the space provided for additional information or do we need to write a separate cover letter and attach?

2. She is applying as unemployed but stated a a yearly income from gifts and allowances by family/friends and other avenues as 1.5m yearly and monthly expenditure as 75k. Is this suitable?
Also is it necessary to show she has savings even though I am sponsoring the whole trip.

3. Does the space for date of entry and exit affect the granting and overall tenure of the Visa. Eg can I state a date span of just 1 month stay even though she might stay slightly longer

Thank you in anticipation of your experienced responses.
3. No, yes
2a. Yes but it should be evident in her activities.
2b. This conflicts with 2a already. As she is the one making the application, her financial situation is paramount. Even if she is not showing savings, she needs to show her statement which cannot be empty and 1.5M annual income - 75k monthly expense should have balance.
1. I can't tell, but I can assure you that it's easier and better to put yourself in a situation where you won't have to explain anything than to put yourself in the situation and starts explaining. Give me an idea of why you want to explain and I may be able to provide alternative even if you are in the situation already.

Saying she's unemployed may be a disadvantage, try petty business, it was suggested earlier.

The line of thought here is clear- what's the difference between an expat and a migrant? It's not really about what you believe- these are distinct words with clear meaning.

Migrant
Immigrant
Emigrant
Expatriate

Migrant= expat. Both immigrants and emigrants fall under the umbrella term of migrant. Regarding duration, it's also catered to. There is a reason why 'temporary migrant' is a commonly used phrase to qualify migrants who are not moving permanently.

Will you refer to people that got Canadian PR from Nigeria and eventually relocated as expatriates or migrants?

If you still believe those words are the same no problem.
Viruses: 8:03am On Feb 08
jedisco:

I'm yet to see a consistent difference between the two. Length of residence does not qualify in any definitive manner. Many 'expats' relocate longterm (some to retire) and many 'migrants' move temporarily.

This is a clear example of how the synonymous words can be used to drive different narratives - something the british media is very good at. Lastly, also realise that this has been discussed extensively in many ways going back decades. Its nothing new- reason why I was surprised when I saw the first hole being dug.

I believe if you travel to a new country to settle down permanently, you are an immigrant. Whether you eventually settle down or move about for various reasons is a different issue.

Except you're inferring that those on tier 2 for instance are expatriates and will only become immigrants after ILR.
