I pity some ladies here. I just didn't want to mention names. Its quiet simple everyone has a choice and no one is forcing you to get married. If you think you want change and you want to create your own experimental family as long as the man agrees that's your cup of tea. The OP question said what do you think? In my opinion my wife MUST have my name without argument. We can only talk about this issue if her mom retained her name (LOL)
Some people may wonder why I said MUST.... I respect women, and my wife has all the freedom and liberty any woman can ask for. I give her the best thing in life and we live in civilized society. But she must understand that there are difference between watching reality shows and movie to real life. I have always cautioned bringing in all this crazy fake reality show to my home. That is a no no.
Someone said if she had a wonderful father... I am a wonderful man!!! Some said if her father is rich... I am rich in my capacity!!! Some say because of her document.... There has always been a legal and easy way to do change of name and I have never heard someone being denied of positions and right because of change of name.
So ladies if you want to retain your fathers name partially and completely that should be a discussing for your man. As for me.... There is no camera in my bedroom and I am not on tv. I am a real man that wants a real home and family plus the simplest things in life.

Most of this people commenting here do not have international expose. The countries listed that are N200 for visa are countries with strong diplomatic ties with Nigeria and some of them are free Visa to Nigerians. Nigeria is just charging for the cost of printing so according to Nigerian Immigration law no country is visa free to Nigeria expect West Africa countries which practically we are using the same port. Stop saying Nigeria is cheap and GMB will perform magic there are laws in Nigeria which the president will never be able to touch.

Look @op. Common sense should tell you to check your GF. Its not just rude but degrading to let someone leave his/her sit for anyone expect out of self will and respect(e.g standing up for an elder that is weak).
Your GF should be checked and cautioned. This is a bad sign my dear.
I am married and have kids. I once picked my sister from the airport when she visited from . My wife didn't go with me to pick her. I have to pick my wife up from the grocery store. She came and went straight to the back sit and my sister offered her to come to the front and be with her husband and she waived it off saying it rude. She even said enjoy the moment with your brother after all he is all my anytime any day.
That is what is expected of a woman. Does been in the front sit add or take aware the love?

I agree with you Car-doctor. The issue was that i was not around as at the time all this is happening. And my brother who happened to talk control of the car in the wharf couldn't understand the situation. The messed up with the car and get it into alots of problems. Ended up breaking the gas tank while trying to tow the vehicle.
But all the same I am happy because its all over.

To answer you question. The air bag suspension sensor is faulty and when you engage the car in gear it will not left it up to engage driving. After changing the unite the car was able to left up and drive.
I was surprise what little failure can cause in our modern day cars. I was also surprised because the car is in no way Airmatic but regular suspesion. I never knew the still have air bags on them.

Transmission problem on Mercedes R350
First of all I must applaud people like car-doctor, Ikenna351, Siena and others for making this forum what it is today. I must confess that you guys at this car talk are the best and one of the reasons I still visit NL. This is the only sector that you didn’t hear about all this tribal nonsense that has taken control of NL.
My brothers I had an issue and its bothering me because I am not in Nigeria right. I shipped one 2007 R 350 from California and it just cleared the customs on Friday. The car was in good sharp when I shipped it because I used it for some time in California before shipping it.
To my greatest surprise my brother called me and informed me that the car will engage in all the gears but will not move. It will rev but the car will not move. I am confused because I have no idea what can be the problem.
I have done some research online and some people will say it could be the conductor plate. Some said it’s the Valve body, TCM and all sort of things. Some professional suggested I check for blown fuss and service the transmission oil some suggested flashing the ECU. From what I gathered online, its seems it’s a common issue with 722.9 transmission on Mercedes because a lot C, M, R and GL brands are all having one transmission issue or the other,
My brothers I will need some input here because I need some good electrician that can handle 722.9 transmissions on Mercedes. I will love to hear if anyone had experience this issue before. I want to know what I am dealing with because it’s all confusing to me.
Does anyone know someone with STAR diagnosis in Lagos as the car is still in Lagos?
Brothers your input is required because I want to cut cost to the minimal right now as I am still planning on come back on the 24th.
Thanks all for your help.

I was going through this post by yahoo this morning and asked myself a simple question " Doesn't Nigeria have one constitutionally reconsigned police force"?
Please can someone ask the FG to Stop the funding that was generated from sales and consumption of alcohol from getting to Kano state!
You can not eat your cake and have it!!

===================
Kano (Nigeria) (AFP) - Police enforcing Islamic law in Nigeria's city of Kano publicly destroyed some 240,000 bottles of beer on Wednesday, the latest move in a wider crackdown on behaviour deemed "immoral" in the area.
The banned booze had been confiscated from trucks coming into the city in recent weeks, said officials from the Hisbah, the patrol tasked with enforcing the strict Islamic law, known as sharia.

Kano's Hisbah chief Aminu Daurawa said at the bottle-breaking ceremony he had "the ardent hope this will bring an end to the consumption of such prohibited substances".
A large bulldozer smashed the bottles to shouts of "Allahu Ahkbar" (God is Great) from ers outside the Hisbah headquarters in Kano, the largest city in Nigeria's mainly Muslim north.

Kegs containing more than 8,000 litres of a local alcoholic brew called "burukutu" and 320,000 cigarettes were also destroyed.

"We hope this measure will help restore the tarnished image of Kano," said Daurawa
Since September, the Hisbah have launched sweeping crackdowns and made hundreds of arrests in Kano following a state-government directive to cleanse the commercial hub of so-called "immoral" practices.

The 9,000-strong moral police force works alongside the civilian police but also has other duties, including community development work and dispute resolution.

Sharia was reintroduced across northern Nigeria in 2001, but the code has been unevenly applied.

Alcohol is typically easy to find in Kano, including at hotels and bars in neighbourhoods like Sabon Gari, inhabited by the city's sizeable Christian minority.

But the Hisbah boss vowed that this was set to change.

"We hereby send warning to unrepentant offenders that Hisbah personnel will soon embark on an operation into every nook and corner of (Kano) state to put an end to the sale and consumption of alcohol and all other intoxicants," Daurawa said.

People accused of engaging in prostitution and homosexual sex have been among those arrested in the latest crackdown, along with alleged drunks and drug addicts.

Nigeria is divided between a mostly Christian south and a predominately Muslim north.

This is the worst policy I have seen in Nigeria. I had my own share of experience on this issue. I purchased some cars in the USA and had to pay for them I ran out of cash here in the USA and needed to call money from my in Nigeria which I always do. I was surprised when my officer told me that he can no longer transfer money to me from my in First bank which is not a dollar . It took me two weeks to get the money over here. I had to beg a friend who has a dollar to make the payment for me. Not just that I ended up transferring the money to my wife who had to change it at the black market before it was paid into my friend . I lost closed to $1500 on the exchange market and had to risk a huge amount of money on a friend hand. To add salt to injury my car dealer was flagged and I had to do a lot of verification before the funds was accepted by the car dealers because the payment came from a different name that was not on including the $50 a day penalty I paid for not paying on time.
My cars were delayed for almost a month just because someone thinks that he can go to bed and come up with unethical policy without proper studies.
I have been to different countries and have seen how the operate. When I was in Asia they do not pay out on foreign currency but you can walk into a bank and make international transfer. The will use in-house exchange to transfer the funds to you without you having to open and operate a dollar . I called my bank provided the invoice of the car which was on my name and nothing could be done.

car-doctor:
Automatic gearbox issues have become a reoccuring decimal to any automatic car owner. Slow take off, sluggish acceleration, lack of kick down, loss of drive while in motion, lack of gear change, aggressive gear changes, high engine revs without power in drive just to name a few.

From my observation and the complaints made by some of our customers, these problems usually start from a gearbox oil change that was recommended by the mechanic who then uses the wrong type of ATF oil for the transmission.

Most car manufacturers develop their own ATF formular for their cars.

Honda recommends their own formular ATF-z1 for their gearboxes manufactured between 1998 to 2009 and upgraded to the ATF-Dw1 for gearboxes manufactured from 2010 upwards.

Toyota uses the Type 4 ATF for their cars manufactured between1996 to 2007 and the Toyota WS ATF for ones manufactured between 2007 to present.

Most other car manufactures have also upgraded the type of ATF for their modern cars.

Using the wrong grade of ATF would almost certainly result in a failing transmission. Low grade ATF may not be able to handle the high temperature operations operations of a gearbox. Under very high temperatures, low grade oil loses its fluidity and may begin to boil causing loss of hydraulic functions by frothing or foaming.

Some remedies I have seen used by local mechanics is to further add engine oil to the gearbox in order to thicken the viscosity of the ATF. This in turn puts the pump under great stress as the thicker oil would require more effort from the pump in distributing the oil under high pressure as well as the oil filter which is usually embedded within the transmission gear train. (The removal and changing of all Honda transmission oil filter would require the removal of the gear box from the car and stripping down the gearbox)

The resulting consequence would be an imminent and extreme overheating of the transmission and components such as the friction plates and a rapid degradation of the wet clutch fibres hence the loss of drive, slipping clutch and rough gear changes.

Replacing the gearbox or a total overhaul by an expert would be the likely solution but before then, an inexperienced mechanic would Send you on a wild goose chase by suggesting the removal and servicing or outright replacement of shift solenoids on the outer casing of the gearbox. These solutions Don't last as its just a temporal remedy to a terminal issue.

We constantly repair these gearboxes and those of other makes to a very high standard with 99.9% success rate and we recommend that if you are having serious issues with your automatic gearbox, ensure that the appropriate procedures are followed.

Car-Doctor.

Do you fix Mercedes transmission if yes kindly send me your I will love to have some talk with you.

I just ordered for two iphone 5 from verizon and I just wanted to find out if it will work in Nigeria. I ordered the phone unlocked. I have asked the customer service and they said it will work but when I asked what band they phone is using they said it is CDMA. They guy also mentioned that it uses sim card. I am worried because I have brought iphone home before although locked and it never worked in Nigeria. Anyone with advice because I still have options to cancel the order and use ebay.

I have used both Iphone and Android and in regard to the question mentioned above, Iphone has an easy interface to use which android is catching up. General choosing between the two I will choose my Samsung, first in absence of my computer my Samsung is a good companion. I do not need to jail break it to enjoy it. I spend more time with it than the Iphone I only use Iphone as a backup in-case I over use my Android. The funny thing even the keyboard that made me buy Iphone I now have it on my android.Shhhh.

Some people make comments without reason. Someone here made a very good observation about building. Most people thought that zinc is cheap but there are smarter ways of building that is far more cheaper with good material that can last longer and cheaper above all withstand different weather conditions. Although most of the technology is not easily available in Nigeria. That those not mean that we should be blind about it. Sometimes I wonder what happened to our building codes. Zinc should be banned if possible. People should look for more affective ways to build.

I am disappointed with so many comments here today. This shows the level of ethnically divided youths we have in Nigeria. For Christ seek what is with his death, He is a man like all of us making nasty comments here.
Why are you people starting a war here. May his gently Soul rest in peace if the rumour is true.

10, the 1.5 billion naira given to ojukwu should be taken back and used for something better like a seaport in portharcount

I believed you when you said that Nigeria should leave Zoning and go back to Merit system. but the quoted remark from you shows that you are still blinded by zoning issue because i sensed that you made that comment because ojukwu is Igbo. if any one needs compensation he should get it.
And there is nothing wrong in GEJ meeting his opposition it is done every were in the world.
All the same we need to move this country forward. embarassed embarassed embarassed embarassed
