Just as former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo decided to part way with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by publicly shredding his PDP hip card, it probably was not foreseen that his action would be replicated so soon.

In a new development, the senior special assistant on security to Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state has also decided to go the Obasanjo way.

Alhaji Abdullahi Babangida Muhammad has ed the former president Obasanjo’s idea of tearing up his PDP hip card. The aide to the governor of Gombe was shown on camera shredding his PDP hip card and pledging his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obasanjo, who is a founding member of The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the first democratically elected president of the party in 1999, shocked many yesterday, February 16, when he tore up his PDP hip card.

Reactions won’t strop tracking the yesterday’s exit of Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasajo, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

After having served 8 years in the party, OBJ announced his quit and publicly tore his hip card saying he would no longer stay in politics. Following the unpleasant development the Ogun chapter of the PDP announced the expulsion of the politician from the ruling party.

Commenting on the situation, Chariman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, said the former President had the right to dump the party adding however that he would not be missed. Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, was outraged by OBJ’s behaviour and called him “a man without honour”.

In the evening of February 16 the PDP issued an official statement on the incident, in which the party expressed sadness over the move.

But what does the newsmaker himself has to say about his decision?

Obasanjo yesterday took to a Twitter allegedly belonging to him (@SegunObasanjo)and shared several tweets.

Obasanjo, famous for his criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan’s istration, said:

Main campus of the Shehu Idris College of Health Science and Technology in Makarfi, Kaduna State, has been shut following a fire outbreak. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the fire outbreak occurred on Friday evening in the female hostel block B, destroying 25 rooms. Consequently, 200 students were left without accommodation. Fortunately, no life was lost, since the incident happened at the time when student were writing their examinations. According to college’s Provost, Musa Garba- Abdullahi, examinations have been suspended following the development, despite the fact that the first semester examination had already started. The ongoing examinations at Tudun- Wada Kaduna and Pambeguwa campuses will, however, continue.

Even though I would probably be the worst english teacher on the planet, I still have this weird OCD thing going on when it comes to grammer grammar.

The English language is really confusing! It has evolved a bit with unofficial slang and shortcuts that I still consider part of our complicated language (biffed, wanna, awesomeriffic, I’ma, hella, cagillion; ba da bing, ba da boom, etc.) because without them life just wouldn’t be as much fun. Anywho, I’m not going to stop referring to my urban dictionary (and neither should you), but there are some grammar mistakes that could make you look, well, dumb. I stumbled across this info-graphic, and couldn’t help but share it with my readers. If you’re a teacher, share this with your students.
