Spending so much to set precedence is a good deal anyway, even if the cost of pursuing this is much more than what he stole, it would have been mischievous of any state and any person to think it shouldn’t be pursued.

Think of this; if the cost was put into consideration and the case was dropped, wouldn’t it just mean all you need was create a web of complexity and steal on per with that, and then you'd never be prosecuted by the state.

this is not the first time someone will be threatening about this project, they should either revoke or keep quiet, what is the essence of telling us the pace of work is slow like we can't see for ourselves,

if these guys get paid so much and all they can deliver is a threat years after the contractor have abandoned the site, then they should be placed on minimum wage.

GeneralGEJ:

NO fewer than 6,000 illegal refineries across Niger Delta have been destroyed by the t Military Task Force.

The JTF spokesman, Lt. Col. Timothy Antigha, said this while handing over seven suspected oil thieves and five trucks to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

Antigha, who claimed that the illegal refineries were discovered in 2011, added that over 150 persons suspected to be involved in bunkering were arrested by the JTF last year.
According to him, the task force also impounded four barges and five ships, adding that the suspects had been handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.

Antigha said, “We are gathered here today in order to transfer seven suspected oil thieves to the civil defence corps.

“The suspects were arrested with five trucks loaded with illegally refined petroleum products at Water Lines in Port Harcourt and Oyigbo Local Government Area. They are among the criminals that have been selling substandard petroleum products.

“The product they sell is not up to the NNPC’s standard. We took samples of the product to the DPR and it was confirmed that the products were of poor quality.”

Antigha listed the suspects as Babayo Dauda, Mohammed Abdullahi, Bukar Alima, and Jeremah Umaru, Ali Salisu, Ibrahim Abdullahi and Ikechukwu Ukaegbu.

http://www.punchng.com/news/jtf-destroys-6000-illegal-refineries-in-ndelta/

what is the situation of these 150 that were arrested last year. How many have been convicted and jailed?, or do they just make noise, speak to the press, collect bribe and release them?,

if they cant pursue their case to conclusion, they should stop telling us they arrested this, they arrested that,

Multiple explosions have rocked Kano, the biggest city in northern Nigeria.

The BBC's Yusuf Yakasai in the city says there is pandemonium with people running all over the place and plumes of smoke rising into the sky.

One of the blasts hit the federal police headquarters in the city and two other police stations, he says.

No-one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Islamist militants have been behind a recent campaign of violence in the mainly Muslim north.

Our reporter says there is also a shoot-out going on at the police's state head office in the east of the city.

The blasts targeted different neighbourhoods of the city.

So far he is aware of explosions at the federal police headquarters in the west of the city, one police station in the centre, and another police station in the south.

A reporter for the AP news agency said one of the explosions was powerful enough to shake his car several miles away from the blast.

The Islamist Boko Haram group, whose name means "Western education is forbidden", wants to establish Sharia (Islamic law) in Nigeria and started to stage drive-by shootings in 2010 on government targets in its base in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri.

It has stepped up its attacks in 2011, attacking the headquarters of the police and the UN in the capital, Abuja.

In recent weeks, southerners, who are mostly Christians or animists, living in the north have been the targets of deadly attacks.

After listening to the comical jokes of the petroleum minister about probing corruption in the petroleum sector, you’d feel sorry for Nigerians, as its very clear and evident that the gross corruption and incompetence that has set Nigeria back for years will continue and outlive this regime. The pointers towards this claim are so accurate and the government of today has only giving such conclusions more precision.
[li]Nobody prompted the Petroleum minister to state she asked for permission from the president to commence investigation into corrupt practices in the sector. That was a direct indictment on the government. It confirms the theory that government shields corruption and is selective in her fight against it. [/li]

[li]That  the same minister that supervised subsidy payment in 2010 and paid N561 Billion for the year, supervised the payment of over N1.3 trillion as at September 2011, and never felt to seek ‘permission’ for probe immediately?
[/li]

[li]When she made the infamous statement ‘our hands are tied’ she wasn’t referring to the supposed oil cartel, but the executive power brokers that choose who to accuse, who to investigate and who to indict. [/li]

[li]The Minister also said she was setting up a committee under her office to investigate misappropriations and irregularities in subsidy payments. Who exonerated her from the shady deals? How can anybody be convinced she’s not a beneficiary of these criminal acts? In-fact, it will be insane given the state of the nation to be confident she is innocent and has no idea how the nation was robbed.
[/li]
Shortly after listening to the petroleum minister, the  Inspector General of Police came on air.  I was hoping, finally, that the police boss too has sought the permission of the president to embargo N20 road tax collection by his men. To be honest with the IGP, he never claimed to be helpless, but unlike Mrs Madueke, he just has not gotten directive of the executive power brokers, the commanders of the commander-in-chief to put an end to road side bribery.

A nation that will develop cannot be led by unprincipled leaders,  The totality of the federal executive council could not have being in of the recent fuel subsidy removal, yet no one was courageous or even bold enough to express their reservation albeit disagreement about it.

It is a that guess until the presidency maps sectors like water resources, tourism, environment, lands and housing, and so many other key ministries into its propaganda transformation agenda, ministers of such ministries are on strict orders not to innovate, not to implement, not to probe, not to engage and not to function. They must wait for the permission of the president to perform their duties.

Its now a slug that fuel subsidy s for a lot of corruption in the petroleum sector. I humbly disagree, its the government and its agencies that for ‘all’ the corruption in the petroleum sector.

Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales has announced that the hugely popular online encyclopedia will go dark for 24 hours on that date to protest the possible approval of the Stop Online Piracy Act. The shutdown will begin at midnight Eastern time and will only affect the English-based Wikipedia pages.

The news comes after the US House of Representatives have apparently decided not to vote on SOPA until there is a general consensus on the bill.

The SOPA is a bill that has received severe condemnation by the proponents of an unregulated and uncensored internet.

1).Xavi Hernandez: Fifa Ballon D’or

Arguably the best midfielder ever, no one can deny Xavi’s majesty. While it is no longer news that he was not third time lucky at the Fifa ballon d’or, you can’t help but wonder what would have happened if there had been no magical Messi. Xavi is the heart of Barcelona and Spain, when Xavi is not playing Barca look like talented school boys even with the diminutive Argentine playing. His critics will argue he doesn’t score nor assist much; yeah! except he averages over a hundred es per game and has won everything there is to win except of course the Fifa ballon d’or and th confederations cup if you count it.

2).Ferenc Puskas: The 1954 World Cup

Caps 85 (84 goals)
Clubs Kispest Budapest , Honved Budapest, Real Madrid-Apps 262(242 goals)
The Hungarian ‘little canon’ is probably the best pure striker ever, i mean his statistics speaks for themselves.
3x European Cup, 1x Intercontinental Cup, 5x Spanish Championship , 1x Spanish Cup, 5x Hungarian Championship, 4x Top scorer Hungarian League, 4x Top scorer Spanish League.
With all this stats, he never won a world cup, the closest he came was in the 3 -2 loss of Hungary to at the 1954 world cup, never mind he was also part of the all-conquering madrid squard which included Alfredo di Stefano that won 5 consecutive european cups(1956-1960)

3).Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima: The Uefa Champions League

Il Fenomeno (the phenomenon) one of the greatest footballers ever who perhaps will fondly be ed for his 2002 world cup final exploits in which he turned in a performance of the highest quality and turned the legendary Oliver Kahn to ordinary. He owns the record for the most goals scored in a world cup (15), breaking Gerd Muller’s of 14 in 2006. He has won the most number of Fifa world player awards, tied with Zidane (3 each).
The phenomenon has turned out for clubsides barca, madrid, milan, inter milan, cruzeiro, psv, corinthians and made a total of 343 apps, scoring 242 times. For brazil, he has been capped 98 times scoring 62 goals.

4). Thierry Henry: The Ballon D’or

Titi va va voom is the record goalscorer of Arsenal football club having scored a total of 226 goals in 369 appearances before his fairytale return on monday. He has won everything there is to win in football, winning the world cup in 1998, euro 2002, as well as being part of the all-conquering Barcelona team that won all six trophies in 2009.

5). Johan Cruff: The 1974 World Cup

The architect of this Barcelona side . Everything Barca has become is down to his brilliance as a player and as an adviser. We can rightly say he gave us Xavi, Fabregas, Iniesta, and of course Messi through his idea that Barca have a prototype of Ajax’s own academy (La masia). He was part of the star studded Ajax team that had won three european cups in a row 1971-1973 . The 1974 world cup was seen as the moment Holland was going to take its place among the great nations, and having thrashed Argentina 4-0 and Brazil 2-0, but despite taking a second minute lead in the final before West had touched the ball they would go on to lose 2-1 to their bitter rivals.
