From experience nairaland is not the place to get complete info as to what you can do with that money.

Just continue saving and do lots of research. Dont just accept all what people tell you, get yourself involved.

Only charges below #1667 monthly supply is favourable to consumers when % 45 increase is applied.

Charges above #1667 monthly supply will make #750 fixed charge favourable to consumers compared to % 45 increase. Mind you majority of Nigerians consume far above the #1667 mark.

Example: If one consumes an avg. of N2000 monthly supply i.e total will be N2750 (fixed 750), but now we pay N2900 (% 45)

@ N5000/month i.e total is N5750, but now we pay N7250.
@ N10,000 /month i.e total is N10,750, but now we pay N14,500.

Now calm down and ask yourself, does it make sense to ban importation of small generator and increase electricity tariff without improving power generation and distribution?

It seems you haven't use high end Chipset and well optimised ROM. Get a phone with Snapdragon 808 and above with MIUI 6 or 7 or Flyme OS come back and drop your testimony.

If you can get a phone with high end Chipset, 1 or 2GB RAM, well optimised ROM and 2500 - 3000mAh you're good to go. Mind you new Chipset are always designed to consume less power than old ones.


A phone with 4GB ram and those Chipset Tecno do use will still lag when you multi task it.

My phone running MIUI 7 Kit kat gives me almost same features with Lollipop and also ones not available in stock Lollipop.

To me, I consider mainly Chipset and ROM before other things.


Too sad, many do not know the function of Chipset and ROM, what they're after is big ram and battery.
