Any idea on the timeframe for this istrative processing.
It’s now the new thread, they either deny or place on istrative processing.
I had my interview on May 2, did not witness any straight approval, and I was also placed on the istrative processing along with some other people, the VO collected my I-20 and returned back my port and said I don’t need to do anything that further information would be communicated on my case.
My question is who has through this new istrative processing thread and ideally how long does it take ? Should I be expecting weeks or months ?

I think this istrative processing is only happening at the US consulate in lagos, I don't think I have seen those who were put on AP recently at the Embassy in Abuja.

No one knows what the time frame is, my Ghanaian friends got an update on their AP within 14 business days but that's not the case here, only one guy on this thread got approved in 15 business days.

My visa has been approved. It was approved on April 29, 2025 - the same date I was to resume studies in the USA.

Can I still travel to the USA with the old I-20 form?

Hello, if you are over the age of 18, your parent/guardian don't need to fill that section and you don't need to write your sponsor's name there and yes you can sign the form before your interview.

I was interviewed by the chubby white lady at the US consulate in lagos, my appointment was for 6:45am.

I had this same exact issue on the 27th of March.

My case was a fully funded PhD offer with no deficits.

I have been trying to understand what exactly is the issue.

Also I mentioned something along the line of “coming back to Nigeria” to start a consulting firm. I rushed through the delivery while speaking, the VO asked that I calm down and specifically asked if I would be seeking employment in the private or public sector, of which I stated Private sector.


I was already smiling internally when I saw the VO reaching for a white paper, alas it was an “istrative processing” paper. My port and I-20 were “detained”

Steps
1. Fill out a new DS-160 form on the official website
2. Submit the new DS-160 form and note the new confirmation number.
3. Update your appointment profile
4. to your visa scheduling portal (e.g., U.S. Travel Docs)
5. Edit your appointment details to include the new DS-160 confirmation number.
6. Print the new DS-160 confirmation page and bring it to your interview.

You can't update your profile on the avits portal.
