My advise might not really sound cool, but I'll say it. Doing a PhD without funding is Slavery... Yes, it's Slavery. Don't even think of it, especially in developed countries. PhD is purely research, and a lot of cost is embedded in it that's totally different from your tuition. How will someone spend so much, continuously for 4 years, and with wife and 3 kids. Sincerely, it's not advisable at all. Except you have twice of the total cost for four year + research and you don't really mind spending it

No 2. For a married person with 3 kids to use a third party sponsor is almost a straight denial. Because I still don't know what explanation can be given that the VO will not think "applicant is not financially capable"

My sincere advice - take your time to get a fully funded scholarship for your PhD.

I received a PhD ission in Dalhousie university on Feb 1st to resume on May 1st but defer to September, 2022.
I will advise you to send mails to them requesting for updates about your application.

As for your questions, see my responses below:

1. First, I will suggest you apply alone since you're being sponsored by a third party (TETFUND). You can apply for your family to you when you've successfully landed in Canada.


2. The list of documents can be seen from other people's testimonies on this platform, in consideration of the number of years you've been on this platform (5 years), I believe you should have a clue on the documents required for a study permit application from Nigeria.


3. Get the upfront medical examination done, it will speed up the application process.

Ensure you read for between 2 - 4 months before writing your test o.
