Guys in Ontario,

Please pardon my question, it might be a bit insensitive.

Is this how emergency alert will be going forward?

Pls is there a way one can ‘un’ from this alert services?

You see why I have always been saying that Nigerians relocating to Canny should "format" our (I'm sorry to say) not so ideal-naija values, mindsets, thinking patterns and attitudes generally and "re-install" the spirit of Canada- that which attracted us about Canada that is making most of us darm the life here and jumping ship- that spirit of care, genuine concern for the next man[whether rich or poor], sharing a smile to a total stranger, lending helping hands, volunteering in the community....etc

There is more to just following the trend of relocating- what do you really want to change in your life now? how do you really want to order your life going forward in Canada? what do you really want to add to your life different from what you have always had over the years in Naija??

Striving for a more fulfilling living and positive impact to those around you should be the goal......else ones relocation wont have made a difference, one would have just been better off staying back. grin grin

Like a friend in Halifax said to me in a recent call..."I just started living now, all my 35 previous years in Nigeria, I had just been existing" grin That was deep, if you can relate to the story of an average Nigerian and how the "Naija system" has made us to live how we have lived all these years. The more reason I always say it will be so unfair to make my children live the type of life and in the type of system I had existed in the last almost 4 decades!

thanks sir for taking your time on this. Bc be prepared to host me just once. After that let’s don’t meet again

Guy, in this ielts hustle, nobody can beat his chest and confidently declare he will just attempt it once and clear it once and for all. For those that maxed out on their first outing, I believe they were lucky to have the test which was served that particular day which met their spirit, soul and body well! grin It could have gone south..(for several reasons)

That was how a colleague I met at my April test kept saying he can't have less than an 8.5 in listening and me said I'll probably have a 7.5 (I rushed to for MOD of May 12) April result came out, my guy got 7.5 in listening, I got 8...It was his first time grin IELTS can humble you with all your grammar!

MOD Abuja

Lovely score Ifeoma. Na wicked smashers like you no dey allow cutoff come down...see score na, you go fear fear! cheesy grin Congrats ahead!

In another news....

Plenty issues yesterday at the MOD mainland centre, Ogudu. I guess they hadn't handled this type of crowd before and they were obviously overwhelmed. We didn't start till past 11am(I had gotten to the centre before the slated 8am)....Listening speakers began to echo and listening was postponed.

We then started with Reading, thereafter did writing and just as we were about to start Listening, the heavy and noisy rain started. People protested and said they wouldn't take the listening test that doesn't have headphones with this rain noise.

We had to wait for about 1 and half hours for the rain noise to stop. By this time, people were already fagged out and hungry (yours sincerely also was already feeling a slight headache- I feel it all the time I sit for ielts because I go for test with little in the tommy and I expend a great deal of mental energy for concentration within those 3.5 hours)

Many candidates took toilet breaks during this pause and it was a bit rowdy. The invigilators managed to settle everybody down, then the listening test was served and lo, the dreaded map section featured. Listening was as usual fast and wicked! grin The test ended around past 5pm.

Thank God I kept my car keys with a friend nearby...I didn't have to wait that queue to collect any personal belongings...I heard they didn't leave the centre for another 2 hours.

Thank God for everything all in all. Hopeful but so not optimistic.

@TEECANN, seconded. Sometimes, I wonder if I will ever be able to sur the IELTS results that positioned me for ITA if I am made to take another one, but we can always hope for the best. Do your best in the next exam, infact I love your spirit, however, I'm very positive the next draw will favour you. Cheers

Do I have the audacity to be less hopeful, if all my good people here are hopeful and rooting for me to succeed? grin grin

Owols:
Hi TEECANN,
CRS will drop despite your analysis above.
One third of the year is gone by and IRCC has only given out 2800 ITAs which is almost equal to one third of the number of intakes expected in 2018(74,900) through express entry. We all know that not everyone that gets ITA is itted. Therefore it is safe to say that IRCC is already below target.
The numbers of ITA issued is also lower the numbers issued at this time last year, mind you unexpected number of immigrants lower.
IRCC definitely has to increasethe number of draws to meet their 2018 target. The more ITA issued per draw/frequently of draws the lower the CRS scores would be.

@Owols, nice analysis and I totally agree with you but with caution. grin

Reasons:
1. The 2018 74,900 projection includes the dependents of the principal applicants (I read it somewhere..whether CIC website, I cant ) so for every 3500 ITAs issued, I want to believe, the projection will be head-counted for all principal applicants and their dependents.

2. CIC's projections for the year may be for indication purposes only- ie, they may not necessarily fill this quota for many reasons and the touted 2018 figure may just be an immigration "mission statement" for CIC. grin grin (CIC has posited that this figure is a target that they aspire to achieve) To my mind, if they don't make the target, nobody can sue them!

3. Don't let us be quick to forget that the 2018 74,900 figure is to include Federal Skilled Workers Class (that's us), Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class.

Hello peeps! I'm enmeshed in a little dilemma.

Just got ITA but currently in the states with my wife and kids. My plan is to stay permanently here (without my wife's consent cos she's totally anti-immigration).

My concern however is that will it be possible for me to file all documentations including medicals from here or I'll have to cross over to the country as this was where I filed from initially?

Anyone with similar experience should please share.

Thanks.

Guy, why why but why

Why will you plan to this to those lovely kids...

Why will you even think of over-staying your visit visa in the US when it's obvious you can satisfy the conditions for a skilled worker migration to Canada..Canada, which is just an hour drive from the nearest US town?

Why but why?

Patience is a virtue...even if you don't mind the taint on your immigration status, what about these lovey kids...

My naija people, my people, my people!

Only and if only we can exercise patience and do the right thing once and for all and enjoy thereafter (our culture of get it now and fast is scary- reason why I'm porting my kids outta this society grin)...

You will go to US tire from Canada...you can even get jobs in the US as a Canadian PR/Citizen...your Canadian office may even be sending you on several work trips to the US (paid for) so much that you go tire to dey go US!!!

Bro, do the needful, retrace steps...on the long run, it doesn't worth it...because this is a recipe to be bitter in the future and hitting twitter and start saying Nigerians do menial jobs abroad and most can't make ends meet...how will they, if they didn't enter the right way?

I know my sermon will not be palatable to the majority of Nigerians who are looking for all means to jaaa...but if someone has everything it takes get ITA to a Canadian immigration system, why will such a person go to US to overstay a visit visa? It doesn't make sense to me! It may to some people!

Hi teecan,
I partially understand how you feel(im also at 441).my two cents.. Go ahead with your tests with MOD, do not apply for a remark with bc cos of the time waste, I guess the next draw will come down to 440 as there will be no ielts result until May 25th,thats if the next draw takes place on or before the 23rd of May..
It will end in praise for us all.. Don't worry.
I am only but a newbie in this race tho..seniors??

you maybe a newbie but @deesmama, you made sense.

I never factored in that line of thought at the bold above and its positive consequence on a likely reduction in cutoff.

God bless you real good and we will clinch ITA with our 441. grin

Thanks to everyone who have reached out to me since morning on this much anticipated draw of today.

Great, it is out @ 441

But not yet uhuru for your guy...I am feeling firsthand what is it that people who miss ITA feel- to have almost clinch something and it slipped away, just like that!

I got denied with the TIE BREAKING RULE- profiles of December 12, 2017 and older, scaled through.

To think that my profile of October 22, 2017 got ineligible days ago is painful. I just created a new profile after that incident on May 1, 2018 and thereby couldn't clinch ITA with a 441.

I NEED ADVICE, PLS HELP STRATEGIZE WITH ME:

1. My IELTS is LRWS- 8, 8.5, 7, 7 (I know I did enough to get a 7.5 at least in the speaking- I'll leave writing for BC- Is it wise to order for EOR considering that it will take 10 weeks to come and four (4) ITAs would have been declared within that space of time- what if the CRS cutoff drops and I'm still awaiting my remark scores? (NB: a 7.5 in speaking will boost me to 444)

2. I have MOD slated for Saturday- 12th May- my speaking test was ok and I hope that my LWR will be fine too. The MOD result should be out by Friday, 25th May. Should I wait for MOD result to be out (to see whether I can use it to boost CRS) before ordering a BC's EOR (if at all, it will be advisable to go that route)

3. Should I just wait with my 441 in the pool and watch trends for 2 months (4 ITA draws) to see whether the cut-off will drop to below 440 range?

NB: I dont know whether anyone is monitoring the trend which is fast becoming interesting. I have been following express entry since late 2016 and over the period through 2017, I have noticed that information about Express Entry- that started in 2015- is fast becoming more and more popular amongst young workers (age advantage), highly educated (with masters) and wicked IELTS scores at the first attempt, both in Nigeria and worldwide, who are constantly diving into the pool with wickedly high CRS and with better understanding of what opportunities awaits them in Canada against the zero chances that they have at home.

The implication of this is that the CRS cutoff will increasingly become difficult to drop (as I suspect that the cutoff is being determined by graphing) unlike 2017 when the popularity of EE wasn't so a household thing as it is now (I may be wrong though)

Virtually every young and not so young professional and office worker in most offices in Nigeria have heard about the EE process, check out the crowd on IELTS test days, then you will understand what I'm saying. grin

Please help proffer a likely way forward to my scenario!

Hello my people, I need to urgently recreate my EE profile and I need clarification on:
1. can I use the same GC Key for the new profile ?
2. After creating the new EE profile how do I link it with my existing Job bank ?
3. Should I deactivate my existing job bank before creating the profile.
Please assist.

1. Yes. As a matter of fact, your GCKEY credentials is your "key" to logging into many Canadian government online services. So it's not for immigration application use alone. You will also need it when you want to track your PR card for collection in Canada.

2. No idea. But honestly, if you ask me, I'd say it's not so necessary. Job Bank creation has become optional.

3. Not necessary. Refer to No. 2 above.

Any contrary opinion is welcomed.

Wow! Congratsssss. Your people in the PNP thread will surely miss you.

I wish you speedy processing.

grin I still dey the thread gidigba!

PNP peeps need our immigration than folks here at Federal Skilled Workers (FSW) express entry. Trust me, the PNP terrain is complex and technical and with just a flimsy mistake or oversight, that application would most likely be billed for rejection...can imagine the stress, money, time...

As straightforward as FSW seems, it's bad enough that some people are yet to get a grasp of it...now talk much less of a complex terrain like the PNP route.

Nobody can even say he knows the whole gamut of PNP...you know one or two provincial programs and help peeps along that area of expertise. grin

Teecann, congratulations. What made you decide PNP in the first place? Because you got 7.5 in Listening the first time? Haba. The time you wasted waiting on SINP. People please know that not conquering IELTS is not reason enough to go PNP route. PNP is expensive coupled with a bag of patience and hbp of getting in before portal closes.
My advice? If IELTS is becoming a problem for you....take a breather and like I have always said find out what you're doing wrong and device a strategy for beating it.
Congrats to everyone that got their desired score.

Ifeoma77 I knew you be smart cookie grin

Thanks @CF

You are right. Yes, my 7.5 in listening in the first instance and to top it up, I got bad advice- "it's not worth wasting money on re-writing IELTS, use that money to initiate a PNP hustle". Thats mistake No. 1- I never reviewed my personal circumstance to know that I have it in me to max out IELTS and get direct ITA.. I just delved into the PNP before I realized how expensive it is, how time consuming it is and the best of training in patience it is! grin

PNP is expensive- You cant be more correct. What I have spent so far on the PNP hustle, many people will not spend half of it in all of their pre-ITA preparations (I mean 2 IELTS tests, transcripts collection payment, courier payment and WES evaluation payments) and I am serious! grin

PNP is a bag of patience- You cant be even more right. My application has been on since October 2017 and no nomination yet till today. (Some August 2017 applicants just got nomination in April 2018, can you beat that! lipsrsealed)
No nomination, no rejection...application hanging in limbo! grin You can imagine the emotions of anxiety daily since Oct 2017. I eventually took my mind off the application in February 2018 and focused to re-take IELTS. Here we are! grin

Well...things have calmed down a bit now!

I thank God for the downpour of PPR rain today.

I thank God for the IELTS scores which are potential ITA clinchers at the next draw.

I thank God for all those still needing that critical 0.5 point because they'll get it at the next attempt and clinch their own ITAs too.

IN ANOTHER NEWS...

I thank God for another round of praises!

1st attempt (British Council)Sept 2017:
L- 7.5, R- 8, W-7, S-7.5

I went the PNP route and when I saw my personal sisterly @wholesomegrace port from PNP back to mainstream, I got encouraged that I can do it!

2nd attempt (British Council)April 2018:
Listening- 8

Reading- 8.5

Writing- 7

Speaking- 7

With this, our CRS stands at 441

To think that I have MOD speaking test slated for this Sunday and the LSW leg for 12th May, because when I reviewed my BC's Listening, I concluded that I got 6 questions wrong (and that's automatic 7.5) and thereby bungled the most desired "8 points".
So I immediately paid for another test with MOD grin

I am still going to write it and give my 68k a mad run for its value. Pray for me! (I shall be back)

I want to thank God and a lot of people here, cant mention everybody: @cochtrane & @GlitteringStar, my good friends, thank you for coming through all the time (will still need all of your inputs post-ITA grin)

@Wholesomegrace, I promised to come mainstream and God did it. Thanks for the encouragement.

@Newmum0615, you are just too much, your score and that of Oga was a great motivator, I thank you both grin

@CanadianFly, authentic sisterly of life, thank you for dousing the tension in the house always. grin

I honestly didn’t want to announce my PPR until COPR/VISA was ready but somehow, unknowingly, the mail I got yesterday announced itself.

Timeline:

WES: Feb 2017
3RD IELTS results rolled out on Jan 19, 2018 gave me the required boost to clinch ITA at 444. Went to BC Ikoyi office the next working day a Monday Jan 22 to pick up my TRF sharply and updated my profile same day. Got ITA two days later.
ITA: Jan 24 2018
Travel History: None o. Original greenhorn grin grin
Acknowledgement of Receipt: 06 March 2018
Medical ed: 12 March 2018
Background Check: (NA1) (IP1), (NA2), (IP2) bla bla….. I wasn’t keeping track of the dates so I really don’t know how it moved
Additional Document Request: None
port Request (PPR): 3 May 2018

POF: Hubby’s PFA and mine, Treasury bill and cash at bank ie SOA.
Reference letter from former employer: Got reference from former employer(2nd employer acquired my 1st place of employment, so years spent in both places was stated)
Current place of employment doesn’t issue such letter for current serving employees so I prepared LOE to this effect. I wrote my job functions on a plain paper, notarized it and it was the lawyer that signed, attached ing documents (ID card, Offer/promotion letter, pay slips, tax card, appraisals, call card).

Can’t give myself a pat on the back now it cos relocation requires planning, planning and planning. @newmum0615 ….. I am always looking out for your announcement anytime I’m on this tread. It will come very soon by His grace. Amen

I totally understand you and Nogen. My concern is I have 2 languages I speak at home with my kids. We want them fluent in Igbo, unlike these new generation parents that see native languages as "local". So we speak Igbo to the kids and English where they don't quite get what you're saying to them in Igbo. Of course they learn And communicate in English from school. Now my concern is if the French schools have a no English policy, my kids will be fluent in French from school and fluent in Igbo from home......English disappears. That's the concern I was raising at your initial post.
I wanted to know where and how they would continue English? I'm really concerned about this, if I sort out their not forgetting English, then it's French school all the way for them oh.

CF, what magic have you and oga been using to make them speak Igbo? How are you doing it?

The mistake we made as new parents then was to expose them too early to English TV cartoon...and to make matters worse, myself and wifey though we speak Yoruba, it doesn't come to my wife naturally and our day to day conversations is mixed with English & Yoruba overlapping.

What Congo said is so true- TV is a powerful language tool for the young minds- they are 6+ now and I'm fighting tooth and nail to make them speak Yoruba- ed Yoruba app on their tablets, try to speak it and interpret it to them, morning greetings is asked to be said in yoruba etc- I'm just getting to understand the full effect of those early years when they couldn't even speak but were watching the English cartoon- now people ask me whether we had always lived "abroad" because when they talk, you'll naturally conclude that they were born and bred in the US...intonation, manner of speaking and all!

I really am fearful that they may loose out on Yoruba...by the time we land in Canada. Any suggestions good people?

Could it too late for my kids to speak Yoruba? Lagos living is not helping matters- staying in apartment with minimal interactions with other kids- no assurance that the neighbours' kids even speak the language sef! grin

I feel so helpless!
