WhatsApp have confirmed that status updates will begin showing ads in year 2020, Techmachos Reports. At an annual Facebook Marketing Summit in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Facebook offered a first look at how its ads would look once implemented. This revelation was confirmed on Twitter by Olivier Ponteville, the media head at a digital marketing agency based out of Brussels. According to Ponteville, the ments will be shown between Whatsapp stories, just like Instagram stories. In a video ads preview, Olivier explained that stories would be displayed entirely on the screen and a link will redirect s to the website. From what we know so far, the ments will be powered by Facebook's native advertising system and would be aimed at helping s understand and participate in businesses using the messaging app. Facebook's intentions to monetise WhatsApp had earlier forced the hugely popular messaging service's co-founders to leave the company. For those who're aware, WhatsApp's "Status" feature allows s to share text, photos, videos, and animated GIFs that disappear after 24 hours — identical to how Instagram stories work. Amazon is offering s $25 gift cards in exchange for its 3D Scanner to scan your entire body, Techmachos Reports. The Ecommerce giant is conducting a study at its office as part of a test that seeks to 'learn about diversity among body shapes,' according to a listing, which was first spotted by Mashable. Participants who set up a 30-minute appointment will be asked to take a survey and agree to have 3D scans, photos and videos taken of them. The move comes as Amazon has faced privacy concerns around its collection of data from Echo devices, as well as the deployment of its controversial facial recognition software. Scans will be taken in both their 'everyday clothing,' as well as 'form-fitting' garments, which for women might include a bikini or form-fitting shorts and a sports bra, the listing states. Participants' height and weight measurements will also be taken during each session. Amazon said any data collected from participants will 'be used exclusively for internal product research.' A robot dog has shocked everyone in the tech industry as a video shows just how advanced it has become. A 'HyQReal' robo-dog can be seen dragging an airplane that weighs a whopping 3 tons across the Geneva Airport in Italy. HyQReal was created by researchers at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) as a device designed to humans in emergency situations. Luckily, as the video shows, the robot dog would almost certainly be capable of lifting a heavy human. The robot dog drags the heavy airplane with apparent ease across approximately 33 feet before a researcher with a game controller makes it stop. It's an amazing feat, considering the HyQReal weighs just over 280lbs and is roughly 4ft long. IIT revealed that the robot has 'custom-made' feet with special rubber grips attached so that it has strong traction on the ground. Video Below... Samsung have developed a new algorithm that can create fake videos using only one image, Techmachos Reports. In a video demonstration and a paper published in the pre-print journal ArXiv, Samsung researchers show the capabilities of what isdescribed as 'one-shot' and 'few-shot' machine learning. The results of their system bring to life popular faces like those of surrealist painterSalvador Dali and actress Marilyn Monroe using a single still image. The more images that are fed into the program, the more realistic the resulting video becomes. Though a single image translated into a moving face may look noticeably altered, a sample of 32 images produces a moving picture with near lifelike accuracy. The newest algorithm was trained using the publicly available VoxCeleb database which has over 7,000 images of celebrities from YouTube videos. Using that data set, the AI was able to establish what researchers call 'landmark' features-- universally identifiable traits -- among subjects' noise, eyes, and more. Watch Video Below..
