This tends to show the level of ridicule Nigeria have been subjected to in recent years. You can never see Jacob Zuman travelling to any country, and the host country would send someone to receive zuma, it has never happen before. The minister of foreign affairs should tell us why Nigeria's ego was insulted, and our president turned to a mere local government chairman with an assistant foreign affairs sent to welcome him.

Lest I forget, I was told that Jonathan went to China with his wife, 13 ministers and 5 governors just to seek for 3billion dollars loan. Is this not barbaric and incorrigible? Who foot the bills of the travelling? Nigeria is as hopeless as anything.

I guess our president is not assertive and affirmative. During OBJ era, he was never received by any minister at the airport other than the host president or prime minister. Obasanjo was soinfluential and powerful that any country he's going to, the host country always give their maximum allegiance and to him right frm the airport. Jonathan need to imbibe this mentality and stop being ridiculed by these CHINKOS
Come on SHUT tha ya Mouth there, IGNORAMUS. For God's sake, sm of u shld do us d favour of stop talking in Public, plz...

His colleagues decided to remove him from the position on a caucas as well as lobby against him in Abuja.
It is left to him to proof his popularity.
Amaechi proved his popularity by winning the NGF elections

@OP, you may want to move or create anoda thread in d Culture Section..... @topic, yes there were many inventions and innovations done by Muslims of diff continents and 'races', esp in d so-called 'Middle Ages'- from Optics to Medicine, Philosophy, Literature, Algebra, Astronomy, etc. As a mata of fact, Muslims were Masters of intellectual (or rather, Scholarstic) Excellence for centuries during this period as well as d Main transmitter of 'Western' knowledge to what later became Renaissance Europe. The height of intellectual width and depth of sm of them is Simply ASTONISHING- one wud only need to read d Work of Ibn Kaldun, Azeorres, etc to appreciate. Muslims pursued Knowlege THOSE DAYS!!... A lot of persons, including many Muslims themselves (ala, 'Boko is a Sin' and their many fans), are just almost completely ignorant

Toluwarni:
The project which equipment is largely financed by the Bank of Industry, BOI, to the tune of almost N1.5 billion is designed to produce 100,000 dresses per day.
This is d part that most of d ACN Propagandists above won't want to emphasize- d BOI is d main Financial, hence Enabler, of dis factory project. This same Bank of Industry (BOI), d FG's Industry Bank, that was virtuali comatose b4 GEJ almost tripled its Capital base and revived it and which d Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) recently said was becoming a Main source of financing for Middle and Smallscale Industries within d last 2 years; this Bank is THE Financier and Enabler of d project, yet all we hear here is 'Aregbe dis, Aregbe dat'. In fact, I can bet dat this project also has other imprints of d Min of Trade and Industry's recent Quest for actualising AGOA's Garment goal, esp if one of its Parastatals (BOI) was dis involved.... Am all for noting d appreciable input of d host state here (as it should be) in providing d right environment and even investing in it, BUT to mk it look as though this is Aregbe's effort alone (HE is building d biggest factory in WA, HE is providing 3000 jobs, blabla bla..) and completely refusing to acknowlegde d Roles playd by others (who may even be more important) is a LIE buoyed by Deliberate DISTORTION of facts, concorted by a Gang of Propagandists led by their Resident Chief here (he knows himself)..... BOTTOMLINE: This Great development is been undataken by a PRIVATE COMPANY, who has be assisted appreciably by both d host State Govt and d FG, and of course, by d host community- a Colla that we hope to see more often in 9jeria. End of.

This is till your opinion and it doesn't matter how you spin what the man said, fact remains that the man said statutory allocation.

And you are wrong, the NAS legislate allocations and the president signs whatever they allocated to every federal branch. The NAS distributes and allocate our national resources. They allocate funds to the states, the presidency and all the way down to the ministries and the local governments as part of it's budgetary oversight duties and the president sings their legislated allocations and I'm 100% sure this is what the governor was talking about.

I think you are confusing constitutionality with formality.

Goddex: It is stupid for Aregbesola to stay away from NEC meetings and other meetings that will bring development to the good people of Osun state. Nobody is an Island. Funny still is how Osun Defender newsletter feels we should celebrate Aregbesola for this arrogance.

Aregbesola is just daft. I don't want to believe the mental/Psychiatric problem issue some Indigenes of Osun accused him of last time but let him just learn from Mimiko. As an opposition governor of a state, no matter the political differences with the FG, you shove it aside at least in the interest of the entire state. Now, Dangote plans to site his almost 1 trillion naira refinery investment in Ondo state. Does anyone think the FG does not have a hand in the permutations that finally influenced the location of that refinery in Ondo state? Just last month, General Electric started work on a multi billion naira plant in Calabar. Only a fool will think that the location of such key industries happen by chance.

By the way, what big investment has Aregbesola attracted to Osun state since he became governor? Like Mimiko, Peter Obi has a lot to show for his closeness to the center - the Onitsha Port, many federal road projects, ecological fund, oil producing status, SAB Miller Brewery, second Niger Bridge etc etc
Very well said...

jjcbuthot: I can see some of the commentators here are villagers.

What GEJ did there was just a cosmetic upgrade - changing tiles and covering the walls with allum plates, etc.

Nothing still work in the airport. No expansion, the air condition doesnt work, parts of the airport still smelling like dumping ground, the conveyor belt still old and none functioning, etc.

When you travel out of your villages, you will know what an airport should like in this age and time.

Alxmyr: I see some stark misinformation in Oshiomole's word. Maybe he was misquoted.

First, the National Assembly does not appropriate for states. And so Edo state cannot claim that monies ed by National Assembly for his state is held back by the FG.

Second, Oshiomole should have given more detail about what actually transpired and which fund was the FG withholding. I understand that many state cannot access UBEC fund, because the acts establishing UBEC required that states should give of usage of previous funds released to them and as well as contribute their own quota to the fund. Most state have not done that.

Third, the FG has shown its reluctance to encourage state to continue borrowing domestically which often come at higher interest rates.

Lastly, statutory allocation is not appropriated by National Assembly, and most often if a state is owing some debt, such debt is often remove at source. Many state governors don't like that.

My point is that what Oshiomole churned out to the public is half information which basically was one-sided. He should have been more detail so as we know whose fault it is.
Bless you.... No need to type my comment again. This will suffice. Esp d 1st paragraph...... Anoda PROPAGANDA from d Chief Propagandist of NL smashed

Hey dumbhead, everything is wrong with that useless article written by someone of your ilk. The problems with Nigeria didn't start with Gej but rather with your so called heroes and thank God for a visionary leader like Gej and his team who have been trying to right the wrongs of the past. Mr president never sent the never do well to go and waste away in Malaysia neither did he send them to go and push drugs occasioned by greed and materialism . Writing a useless article and trying to lay the blames of his failure on Gej won't sell. Before the coming of Gej, Nigeria was almost brought to her knees by the past leaderships and followers alike; playing the ostrich as if the problem of Nigeria is Gej is just pure stewpid!ty. In your little skewed mind, do you
think running away from the country and turning to an emergency social commentator will solve the problems of this nation? In Nigeria, I see a lot of opportunities waiting to be explored by any discerning and right thinking fellow. FYI, Gej was elected by majority of right thinking Nigerians and we are getting ready to re-elect him come 2015 and be ready to go and commit suicide cos you and your ilk can do nothing about it.
Beauriful response.... One can easily detect d diff in intellect and logic bw dis and d comment you were responding to, made by an 'airhead'

He doesn't go to Abuja nor send a rep to meetings yet you like his style? An intelligent governor if not attending would send a rep so as to know whats going on. This make him appear stupid and make you stupidier for ing a man short changing his people.
Well, in d minds of d ACN Propagandists, anytin any of them do is the 'progressive' tin to do. Anything. This hacket job of an article manufactured in Osun Defender just introduced anoda 'progressive' attribute of Govs we are supposed to be hailing. Of course, it doesn't hurt that d 'owner' of d above named Newspaper is adjourned d 'Best' in dis new award category.... Meanwhile, d same Aregbe who does not apparently attend meetings in Abuja (nor sends a Rep), wud take d award for d Gov that attends the most meetings relating to Politics (ACN ala APC related) any where it holds in Nigeria. Talk about a 'FOCUSED' Gov in deed...
