IGNORAMUS.. If you knew anytin bout what is going on in Nigeria currently, you wud hv known easily that MOST of d 17 or so odd Promises you listd above hv either been done or is been done mid-way tru (repeat, MOST of them). If these were the Promises you are holding the President and if your intent was to 'prove' the President has failed in fulfiling them, then you hv Failed WOEFULLY on of yr incredible Ignorance.... e-herbal:Come on, SHUT UP that mouth of yrs tha, joor. This is the CORE of the mata: how can an AU Conference where Nigeria practicali wrote much of d Conference's Agenda (including almost singlehandedly inserting d Saharewi Independence issue back to the main Agenda) be called a 'flop' in respect of Nigeria's participatn by any stretch? How can a Conference in which Nigeria secured the auanimous backing of ALL 53 countries of d AU for its candidancy as a nonPermanent memba of d UN Security Council for anoda 2 yrs afta just leaving that seat just more than a year ago (an UNPRECEDENTED development that hv never occurrd to the best of my knowledge, and one with huge diplomatic advantages for the country going forward, apart from showing sm deft Diplomatic teeth/capacity in murky waters of Africa's continental politics) be said to be a 'flop'? How can an AU conference where Nigeria succeeded in getting endorsements for sm of her candidates for sm Continential and International/UN institutions be called a 'flop'? How can a Conference in which d President was courted by diff personalities and Presidents from both within Africa and Outside (the UN Secretary General, US Sec of State, Presidents of Jamaica, Egypt, Swaziland, etc) such that the President had sm of d busiest side meetings in d conference, be said to be a 'flop', etc etc? How can such a Conference be described as a 'flop' and an 'embarassment' by any sane person just cos of d inability of d President to deliver a mere speech in pleniary cos of sm oda engagements and sm unfortunate miscommunicatns bw officials- a speech that was by d way delivered by d Foreign Minister, a usual diplomatic traditional of many countries in such circumstance, including Nigeria, from time immemorial? Just how? ...Hv you read dat release by Fashakin? Did it mk any bit of sense to you? Couldn't he hv just askd why d President missd that one speech, in stead of engaging in sophistry bout matas that he is obviously severely ignorant of and disgracing himself so doing??.. NO bros, Fashakin got just what he deserved, pressed down, shaken over and well delivered. And for that I thank Abati 9 Likes |

Afta 31 solid years of mere Promises and 'planning' by the useless people that hv largely killd Naija (1982-2013).... GEJ continues to clear the huge Shiit/Poo left behind by his predecessors, and he doing so STEADILY in spite of d incredible challenges from d remnants of determined Reactionary Forces he had had to contend with since coming to office.... Hehehehe... See finishing!!! And quite appropiate, too... The remarkable tin bout dis fiery reder of Abati's is his ability to also substantiali destroy d Basics of d arguments of Fashakin ie laying bare the fallacies, half-truths and falsehoods of Fashakin's release, whilst mercilessly putting him in his place ... nerodenero: The Leaders from Southsouth rallied-round late Mr.President and together they were able to solve the Niger Delta militancy. It worked because the leaders made conscious effort towards solving the problem in the area.Reverse is the case with the northern leaders. The zeal, ion and desire of the northern leaders to always wanting to rule at all cost will in no distant future become their greatest undoing. It is high time the leaders in the north get wise!Very Wise comment.. |

Gbawe: Which mature adult, able to reason functionally, will not it that high recurrent expenditure is the bane of Nigeria's development? What has GEJ done in regards to this problem? I will jog memories here. He said and I quote "leaner government not possible" immediately after being sworn in as President in 2011. In fact GEJ even went further to solidify his position as an enemy of what is best for Nigeria by vengefully disbanding the Presidential advisory committee that had advised him to urgently cut recurrent expenditure, harming Nigeria's progress, by reducing hideous profligacy (ten Airplane Presidential fleet) superfluous and duplicated government offices and general largesse Yet emotional and clannish folks will never have the maturity to recognise this monumental failings against the Nigerian people. A "Performing" President will never be one, with ten airplanes and N1 billion food budget et al , who worsens our biggest problem. As simple and as straightforward as that. Whether clannish and immature folks wish to it it or not, Emeka Anyaoku raise point below about the fundamentally profligate set-up of Nigeria any mature adult will it GEJ is deliberately propping up.Anoda BARE-FACED LIE by a habitual Liar/Propagandist.. Nigeria had had a problem with high Recurrent Expenditure for the longest time, and has been increasing annually for years b4 GEJ became President. As a mata of fact, GEJ inheritd d 2010 budget from Yar'adua with an incredible Recurrent Expenditure of 77.1%!! He had not only STOPPED dis yearly increases but has REVERSED it: he decreasd it from that 77.1% he inherited in 2010 to 74% in 2011, to 71.4% in 2012 and to 68% dis year. He has also reduced each year since he came in, d Deficit per GDP that was also skyrocketing from about 3.4% he inheritd in 2010 to a projected 2.18% dis year (way below the 3% threshold set by d Fiscal Responsibility Bill). Even more remarkably, he has reduced Overhead Cost (which is one of d main indicators of Cost of Governance) from about #531billion in 2010 to about 240bn in 2012- that is he has reduced it by almost HALF!!! All these Cost cutting and Fiscal Displine/Consolidatn, have made the nation's Ratings to be increasd twice in less than 2 yrs by d 2 top Rating Institutions in d world, same time they were downgrading most other more matured economies. But what is even more remarkable, is that he is Managed to do all these without really pushing any massive retrenchment of workers, in fact, he is d President who had implemented certain increases in emulnuments like 18000 minimum wage, Doctors' Special Salary scale, Teacher's Scale, NYSC Alawee increase, etc- that one wud be forced to ask where the Recurrent monies saved hv been going since. GEJ has startd implementing d Recommendatns of d Oronsaye's Committee on rationalisation of d Public Service..... Now, how any person wud then say in public that he 3 Likes |

Gbawe: I would like Nairalanders to tell us whether a genuine reform of our oil Industry is not one of the major actions urgently needed to tackle one of the biggest problem of Nigeria. Yet all PDP Presidents, including GEJ, have gone out of their way to avoid this badly needed reform in the Oil sector.@Gbawe, Chief HYPOCRITE, Shut up that yr mouth there. Nigeria just won d award of d BEST IMPLEMENTING country in the word in the Extractive industry by d International Extrative Industry Initiative! That is happening unda GEJ as President. No President in the history of Nigeria has done more in EXPOSING and Opening up the rots in d Oil sector than this President; plus, d critical PIB bill that wud both revolutionize and institutionize TRANSPARENCY in d Oil/Gas Industry has been sent by GEJ ova a year ago to d National Assembly and is bw d 2nd and 3rd Reading state presently (although, yr fellow HYPOCRITES in yr party, ACN, who were dis time last yr constantly making lots of Noise on dis particular bill that GEJ had not sent it to d NA and touting it-rightly- as d most comprehensive way of tackling corruptn and turning around d Oil/Gas industry, hv SUDDENLY kept shut since it was sent; as a mata of fact, many ACN membas in d NA have d with reactionary forces in d north to stall/kill d bill by their nonchalance and/or open hostility to its speedy age).... homesteady: They've started renovating the area!! They've repaired the roads leading to the steel mill!! I can actually see this dream coming to !! GEJ has plans for Nigeria!!And the Rail line that wud serve this Steel project from the Mining Cop at Itakpe to the Steel Plants at Ajaokuta and Warri-Aladja ie the Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Agbor-Warri Rail line, the 1st Standard Modern Railway in West Africa, has also just been COMPLETED by GEJ. That Rail line was conceived since 1978, while actual constructn stated bw 1989-1991, with all previous Govts unable to complete it in more than 30 yrs. When sm of us insist that GEJ is steadily TRANSFORMING Nigeria brick by brick, we know what we are talking about.... Brunel: As i read the title of this thread, the first thing that comes to my mind is 'this man is doing alone what government failed to do in almost 30 years'. providing jobs and opportunities and increasing standard of living, one day we all will wake up and realise dat Alhaji Dangote is ACTUALLY our government.Dangote is doing what he is doing principally cos of Govt. Dangote is just one, albeit the most prominent, of the many Players now trooping to Nigeria to set up REAL businesses (in d Industrial, Agric, Services, IT, Mining, etc sectors) cos of d Improving Investment climate in Nigeria. Read the article again and see how he commended d Govt on its new National Sugar Policy- a policy that wud thoroughly change the face of d Agric and Energy sectors in Nigeria in a few yrs time.. |

nig2change: This goes to show how gradually things are picking up in this country. Investigative journalism and purposeful leadership is the key. Thumps up for GEJ. Railways are gradually coming back. Federal roads receiving serious attention. Fiscal policy tightens. But war on corruption should be toughen too. There is nothing primitive about this structure. It is a camp.Yap!! |
