The main problem is not power generation, as Nigeria has installed generating capacity approaching 13,000 megawatts.
The problem is in transmission and distribution, and this is Siemens' area of expertise.
Siemens are not a mushroom company. They have a reputation to uphold. They don't just take on any project because of money. It must be viable or they'll refuse.
They've come to Nigeria, and done their various assessments of the power infrastructure on ground, and concluded it was feasible.
And then they agreed to take on the project.
And Nigeria is dropping the money in cash.
Sot it's really just a question of when, not if, the power crisis in Nigeria will become history.
As in, if you have been following this story from the last 2-3 years you must have seen this, as long we can maintain consistency, there is light at the last and of tunnel. My fear is let's hope the next istration remains committed and act in overall interest of the nation, things may change for the better.

Another blind criticism.
The contract to Siemens was awarded in early 2020 following their success in Egypt, and execution was stalled by the 'covid crisis' as the whole world went on lockdown for nearly 2 years. Now it's finally back on stream, and new transmission/distribution equipment is expected in September.
Serious work is ongoing to ensure a major increase in power output in this country. Be patient.
I feel sad seeing people living under caves making these sort of criticisms, I don't have the energy to be engaging them. Its like they just have to talk even they know nothing about what's at hand.

Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited on Tuesday made it clear that it would no longer remit any money to the Federation s Allocation Committee for sharing to the three tiers of government monthly.
It said this was based on its latest transition from a public corporation to a limited liability company and that it currently owed no money to FAAC, as all monetary arrears to the committee were owed by the old corporation and not the new oil company.
This came as President Muhammadu Buhari officially unveiled the NNPC Limited on Tuesday and declared that the new entity was henceforth free from institutional regulations.
Buhari, who made this public at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, stated that the oil firm would from now on conduct itself under best international business practice.
Before its official unveiling as a limited company, NNPC had failed to make any remittance to FAAC since this year. It had consistently deducted the amount it spends on fuel subsidy monthly, a development that had eroded the funds which it would have remitted to the committee.
Findings showed that between January and May this year, the oil company had spent N1.274tn on petrol subsidy, being the sole importer of the commodity into Nigeria. It, however, described its subsidy spending as under-recovery of a Motor Spirit/value shortfall.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the unveiling of the new oil company, Chief Executive Officer, NNPC Limited, Mele Kyari, stated that the firm was now a private outfit and had nothing to do with FAAC anymore.
Responding to a question on what would happen to NNPC’s monthly FAAC contributions, kyari replied, “We are now a private company; would MTN go to FAAC?”
When probed further to tell if there would be no more FAAC remittances from the company going forward, he said, “We will pay our taxes, royalties and deliver dividends to our shareholders.”
Asked about the arrears to FAAC that were not delivered by the firm over the years, the CEO said, “Which arrears? That’s Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.”
What NNPC transition implies
NNPC explained some of the changes that had taken place or would happen based on the transition of the firm from a corporation to a limited company.
Kyari said, “You now have a smarter, more responsive and much more able company that must act within the premises of all regulations that are in Nigeria for private companies.
“It must also meet the standards of best practice in every industry in of governance, complying with regulations and beyond these, eyes are on the ball that your shareholders are expecting you to deliver value to them.
“That value must translate in two forms. One is that they must see dividends and the second part is that you must deliver energy in this country. This company is now in a position to do both of them because it is now a nimble company, can act, borrow and return peoples money quickly.”
He said the firm would now make decisions very quickly, get the best class of people anywhere in the world, inject them into the company and get its Initial Public Offer ready by June 2023.
“I am sure Nigerians will see a very different company in the coming days and months. And we are convinced that by the mid of next year this company will be IPO ready,” Kyari stated.
Proving further explanation, he said, “IPO ready means that you have systems and processes lined on the side of profitability and is a company that is able to its shareholders and stakeholders.
“Simply that is what IPO processes look for; to see that you have the assets. Today government has transferred those assets to NNPC and we have very ample assets that nobody has in this country and, of course, not even in Africa.”
Fuel subsidy now Nigeria’s burden, not NNPC
Asked to explain how the oil firm would handle subsidy on petrol being a commercial entity, Kyari replied that fuel subsidy was not a burden of NNPC.
He said, “Subsidy is not NNPC’s burden. Subsidy is the decision of the state and in every jurisdiction anywhere in the world, countries see them differently. In some countries, they put petroleum tax on top of the market price of these products.
“So when decisions are to be made in some jurisdictions they will reduce the level of taxation. That also is another form of subsidy. In some countries, you have zero taxation but you will pay the market price for the commodity. That also in a way, in fiscal system, looks at it from a subsidy point of view.
“In very many countries, a leader can decide that I don’t even want my countrymen to buy it at the market price. I’m ready to reduce that price for them so that they can buy.”
Kyari added, “In either case, whichever way the decision and the policy of the state decides, you know NNPC is there in the space to provide the product to the state at commercial value and, of course, it is also our duty to deliver to the customer at the price that the state wants.
“So it is no longer an NNPC issue. NNPC will have no issue with this. NNPC will be happy to supply because we will now see the state as our customer.”
He further explained that the new NNPC had no need for a sovereign guarantee, as lenders would only ask for such when the company seeking the loan lacked access to its assets.
“Today the assets are in our books and have been transferred to us. That is what banks are looking for, and that is the reason why they ask for a sovereign guarantee,” he stated.
The NNPC boss denied claims that the company’s workforce was bloated, as he stressed that “today our total population is just 7,000 and I believe that with the expansion we have in the plan we are going to get more people to work for us.
“The law has also provided that no one is going to leave this company. Everybody’s work is preserved, their benefits are preserved. So there is no matter of concern for the employees of this company.”
NNPC Limited free from institutional regulations
Speaking earlier during the event, before unveiling the new company, Buhari declared that NNPC Limited was henceforth free from institutional regulations.
He said, “The provisions of PIA (Petroleum Industry Act) 2021, have given the Nigerian petroleum industry a new impetus, with improved fiscal framework, transparent governance, enhanced regulation and the creation of a commercially-driven and independent national oil company that will operate without relying on government funding and free from institutional regulations such as the Treasury Single , Public Procurement and Fiscal Responsibility Acts.
“It will, of course, conduct itself under the best international business practice in transparency, governance and commercial viability.”
The President said the government was transforming the petroleum industry to strengthen its capacity and market relevance for the present and future global energy priorities.
“By chance of history, I was privileged to lead the creation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on the July 1, 1977. Forty-Four years later, I was again privileged to sign the Petroleum Industry Act in 2021, heralding the long-awaited reform of our petroleum sector,” he stated.
The President further noted that coincidentally, “I, on July 1, 2022 authorised transfer of assets from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to its successor company, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, and steered the implementation leading to the unveiling of Africa’s largest national oil company today.
“I therefore thank almighty God for choosing me to consistently play an important role in shaping the destiny of our national oil company from the good to the great.
“NNPC Limited will operate as a commercial, independent and viable NOC at par with its peers around the world, to sustainably deliver value to its over 200 million shareholders and the global energy community, while adhering to its fundamental corporate values of integrity, excellence and sustainability.”

Nnpc nus became a private company whose share holders so far are still the fg through a few ministries and some agencies like CBN so nnpc is still a government company guided however by standards of private company (henceforth, expected), nnpcl will still declare profit and loss and remit profits to it's shareholders like every company does.

His run reportage idbjust sub par, the fg is still a shareholder in the new company and the company pays dividends to the fg, so I don't see how nnpcl dosent have anything to do with faac anymore.

Dear ArrewaNorth, I woulf love to discuss the Christianity and Islam subject with you. Two quivck questions, please.
1. If God permits (it would never happen without divine permisssion) earlier revelations to be distorted and corrupted, then why should we believe that he didn't allow successive revelations to experience similar fate? After all, God is sovereign.
That is usially the Muslim go-to, everytime. You want us to believe quite blasphemously that somehow the bible is corrupt but God learned his lessons in time and did not allow the same to repeat itself.
2. If the Quran is the authentic revelation, how do we know/? All previous revelations are corrupt, so with what do we compare the new revelation.
Answer this first
1. Compare the bible to itself.
2. 1 above.

This is the arrogance that annoys Christians about Moslems. You know Christianity more than Christians, yet you people exhibit very poor understanding of the basic tenet of the religion.
I don't have your time because you people don't even know the true message of Mohammed.
1. Everything you practice today was handed over to you guys by Caliph Umar who buried the original Koran.
2. Your Koran was written through oral tradition 20 years after Mohammed's death and his companions.
3. Your most Sahih Hadith Bukhari was written over 200 years after Mohammed's death through oral tradition.
4. Bible was written by apostles who witnessed Jesus not random individuals.
When they say bring facts, you he emotional and talk anyhow.
1. Any reference to this from any source?
2. They say go and learn with an open heart, you refused. The Qur'an was originally memorised by the sahaba as it was revealed to the prophet SAW while others wrote down verses of it in different places. What necessitated the compilation of the Quran was the death of many of those who had memorised the holy book.
Also, it would serve the community better to have a book that can be carried to the furthest of places without the need of having someone who memorised the book being to that place.
To this day, Muslims across the globe memorise the Qur'an and keep it off hand even when the physical copy of the book is here.
How does that means a change in the Qur'an that was revealed?
The Arabs have got a tradition and an uncommon way of life, they were a community of people who take poetry and story telling to the extreme to an apostle extent that their poets memorised books of poetry! Check the history of the Arabs and see how people committed to memory 5 volumes of books on poetry, they are a people who have shown a knack for memorising things.
3. Ahadiths were compiled not written, get the difference between the two words.
4. Funny, how Paul who was never an apostle wrote and influenced the religion more than any of the apostle to the extent of bringing things into the religion that none of the apostle never mentioned. A lot of the Christianity of Paul went even against the teachings of the old testament.
Also, there were 12 righteous apostles but the bible carried only the books of 4 of them, how comes?

Average Muslim know Christianity more than some Christians. Muslims know a lot about Judaism and Christianity. May be you are very ignorant of Islam. Islam sees Judaism and Christianity as earlier versions of Islam, revelations given within the same tradition by Allah but misunderstood over time by their followers. Muslims see Islam as the final, complete, and correct revelation in the monotheistic tradition of the three faiths.
In the Qur'an, Jesus is referred to in ninety three verses in fifteen Chapters; and mentioned by name twenty-five times as “son of Mary” or “Messiah Jesus, son of Mary”.
Islam agrees with Christianity that Jesus was born to a virgin, was sinless, performed miracles, and was superior to other prophets. Both Islam and Judaism teach that Jesus was not in any way Divine. Jews think Jesus was no more than a Rabbi. Islam teaches Jesus was no more than a prophet and a word/sign of Allah. (Qur’an 43:61)
Islam, denies the central teaching and belief of Christianity by denying Jesus' divinity, crucifixion, and resurrection. Judaism denies the divinity of Jesus; but not his crucifixion. Both Islam and Judaism deny the Christian belief in original sin.
Jews and Muslims are both in fundamental agreement that neither Jesus, nor any other human, should be worshiped as a God, or as any part of the one and only God.
A Muslim will discuss Christianity with decorum and respect while still being knowledgeable, a lot of Christians can't.
Ask them fundamental questions and answers won't be forthcoming, discuss with any of them, see the way they display ignorance if the highest order with their loud mouths. Smh.

If there is no original sin, then there is no sin at all in the world and religion or God is false and no need for Him.
If there is original sin, then there's a need for a saviour, a Messiah - hence Jesus.
If Jesus was just a rabbi or prophet, then virgin birth is false, and He was not sinless; He is an impostor. If He is a saviour (and not an impostor) - born of a virgin and sinless then He is God. For it is only God that can save, and it is only Him that is sinless , not a rabbi or prophet.
If He is God, and saviour then he died and ressurected. If He did not die, He did not ressurect, if He did not ressurect, He is not God. If He is not God, then we are all damned, because there will be no good in the world. No hope, no justice, all is vanity.
If there is hope in life, and justice in posterity then Jesus is God.
What incoherence.
There is no sin if there is no original sin?
If there is original sin, then there is need for a saviour?
See the pattern, i.e where the story is going?

60-70% of the problems of this country are instilled and nurtured at the local level i.e state governors, if we can put them in check and force ability down their necks, things may change.
Scenario: how many states have standard education from nursery to secondary schools? I mean schools you can take your kids to without worrying about quality of their education?
How many have primary health care centres that are worth the name?
How many house of assemblies can summon a governor and start any punishable process on him? The ones who are supposed to hold the governors to checks and balances have become worse than rubber stamp. Its what the governors want that they will implement.
You name it, everything is a rot.
Meanwhile our governors are globetrotting while forcing down on us the worst of conditions.
