I have never quite been able to understand communism or... what people see that makes them think it can work. My brain cracks when I try to really reason it and foresee a future in it. I don't see how for instance everyone will just work for the sake of themselves and others (the society) and irregardless of the level or extent of work they do, they will be receive the same economic benefits as someone doing more or less work... with no complaints. What are your thoughts, can someone explain the vision to me simply and thoroughly?

We must take back our country or these people will take it towards hell. We can not say this politician, and that politician will do right by us. They have all proven to be too self-interested to do right for anyone but themselves. Only we the people, that are still of some level of character can reclaim this country.

Day169:
Monarchs in Nigeria have been totally demystified by first past military governments and now the political class. They have since lost the prestige they once had.
People of questionable character now jostle for recognition as high chiefs as traditional rulers, so where do we begin?

Hi. You make a very good point. I do not think we can start with the monarchs as they are. That does not necessarily mean we have to throw all the current monarchs out from the get go. We would however need to set and enforce clear standards of what it means to be a monarch in a new and reformed system. If the monarchs refuse to live up to these rules that serve their people, then they have no use to be in power and should be made to step down.

You want monarchy in a country that's not a nation? ... Lmaooo where have you seen that happen before?

Solution to Nigeria is simply what the British advice us to do in 1956 ... Divide Nigeria into 10 regions of semi independent regions let everyone grow at their own pace ...

But nah we don't want the obvious solution we are looking for imaginary solutions

And when Nigeria is divided into different regions what system of leadership would we use in those regions? I am referring to reviving the current system of monarchy we practice in the different regions of Nigeria and updating it to improve effectiveness and reduce corruption. Furthermore, if Nigeria is divided into smaller regions, independent yet working together as one country for their benefit — it would still need some kind of "overseeing house" that will be able to supersede the authority of the various monarchs on matters of economic benefit to the whole nation. I believe an updated monarchy system similar to what I have described in my original poster would be the best system for this "overseeing house" as well as for the various regions or tribes.

I think monarchy in Christian/secular countries is ceremonial unlike Muslim monarchy in which they use Quran and Sharia.
Does UK king have eny big say in government runnings?

Hi, you are correct. The UK monarchy is mainly ceremonial, Parliament and the Prime Minister run the. country. What I am suggesting is different from that or the monarchy in Muslim countries. The monarchy I am suggesting is quite different — not a powerless figurehead like in the UK, nor a religious monarchy like in Saudi Arabia. The monarchy I envision would involve real preparation from birth — in statecraft, diplomacy, economics, governance and everything needed to rule the nation.

So far there is a committee above the King that can overrule him or her on anything and also be able to sack him or her without notice or ceremony it can work

Indeed there will definitely need to be very rigorous protocols in place to prevent corruption!

I think monarchy is may be the best system of government. It allows for a leader to dedicate their entire life to serve you whereas in a presidential system, leaders only have a few years in office and can be easily influenced or even installed by the corrupt wealthy individuals. Going deeper, in a monarchy, the current monarch can pick an heir from birth and prepare them from the earliest stage of life to become a capable ruler. The heir also has a first-person view to the reigning monarch's rule; they are able to learn directly, every day, by watching them lead. Monarchy gives us the best prospects for a great leader. What do you think?

We have to unite against the so-called government. They are not our government but invaders who have taken power and rob us as they push our economy into collapse.

Yes

And is that to you what the attitude of a senator should be? A senator who had the job to help his people, is flaunting his stolen wealth as his people suffer because he feels them to be cowards who can't do anything anyways? Are you proud of this sign of tyranny?

Cromagnon:

Who shame epp

If he had shame he would have been more focused on helping his people in Kogi who are in dire need, than flaunting undeserved wealth. So those are who shame would help for one.

Cromagnon:

No
They didn't vote for him

He is a Nigerian politician not an isolated local chief or king, how he carries himself reflects on all Nigeria. Even in Kogi and Kogi West specifically, there is still much poverty so I don't really see your point.

Cromagnon:

yes, so what?
Did he tell them not to do senator?

LOL. Unworthy of a proper response.

afraid of cowards?
How many ppl from the whole Kogi west wey you say 200milkion
What will you do about it? Nothing

So what are you saying here? He thinks his people cowards so he's not afraid? Could be and is very shameless of him. Is Kogi not part of Nigeria, are Nigerians not his people? Do you know the population of Nigeria and how many are in poverty?
steadygo: 7:04am On Apr 12
He is not even afraid, we really tolerate these politicians too much. When over a 100 million of his people are in poverty, he as a senator still has the audacity to flex?

Drones would never be used against peaceful protesters in any country. That would be like trying to kill files with a chainsaw.

I am not sure a peaceful protest would be enough, given the kind of thorough change that is needed in Nigeria. It is no secret that the large majority of Nigerians complain everyday about the horrible state of affairs in the country yet the government has not given us any significant real change. A forceful uprising by the people might be needed to bring things to real order in this country.

The Nigerian Army made a very wise decision by choosing VTOL aircraft for indigenous production. The VTOL platform is much more versatile than are conventional fixed-wing drones, which require a runway for takeoff and landing in that no ground infrastructure is required to deploy VTOL aircraft on short notice and adequately close to the theater of war whereby the designated target list locations will all fall within the operational range of the drone.

The VTOL aircraft typically uses two sets of propellers: A set of propellers for the vertical takeoff and landing that face upward or downward like a helicopter, working in conjunction with a second set of propellers that provide horizontal thrust for the cruise portion of the mission, during which the drone flies like a conventional fixed-wing airplane. Thanks to these multiple engines that all share two primary functions, VTOL aircraft enjoy a greater degree of component failure redundancy than do multi-copter style drones like the DJI Mavic series quadcopter. Fixed-wing aircraft whose lift is supplied by wings and forward thrust are much more fuel-efficient, and therefore capable of covering greater distances per unit fuel load than multi-rotor craft.

A VTOL of the type now being manufactured by the Nigerian Army can be configured for high altitude surveillance, ground attack, counter-drone operations, signal interception, or a combination of several combat-related features installed on a single aircraft. The pilot of this drone would typically operate inside an air-conditioned military vehicle parked within range of the target locations, and from that secret command post, pinpoint and annihilate enemy positions while relaxing in front of a large screen showing the bird's-eye-view of the mayhem being visited upon the hapless enemy.

Hmm the Nigerian army is the army of the direct oppressors of Nigeria. When we rebel for our long and severely deprived rights, these are sadly the drones that could be used against us.

They will keep on being Yoruba until time for brother to stand up for brother comes up grin grin grin.

Edo kept on being Yoruba until Fulani people put Asonder cheesy cheesy

So tell me what is it about some Yorubas that makes them have this seeming need to claim other tribes as their own? Will you lose something if Itsekiri are a different tribe from you as they are? Saying Itsekiri "originated" from the same group as present day Yorubas and therefore that makes them the "same" ethnicity or that because they have similar language they are then one ethnicity is incorrect. Itsekiris have a different culture than the general Yoruba ethnicity.

How does this have anything to do with Itsekiris being proud to be Yoruba. You can clearly see the post is talking about a shared history, is that Yoruba to you? And do you often see Itsekiris identifying themselves as Yoruba?

Ilaje1:

You don't like to be called Yoruba because of your hatred for the Yorubas. However, you lang is a Yoruba dialect, very very similar to the Ilaje. Both Ilaje and Itsekiri will great ero wuro, ero oghan etc for good morning, after noon etc. Although, we the younger generation (50 downward) has been influenced by main Yoruba language like sayina An kaaro for good morning.

Omawunmi cld be either Ilaje or itsekiri; Jose pronounced "jor-se" with e as in eja can be either Itsekiri or Ilaje; orisabinone while itsekiri will use oritse. In fact I met an Itsekiri man before, he was speaking itsekiri and I replied in Ilaje. We both understood each other because the languages are more of the same with litte or minimal difference. Omasola and omatsola. Enough of my preamble.

Been born in Delta state has no meaning because delta is not an ethnic group. It's just a name given to a state after combining the people from different ethnic group. While Urogbo and Ijaws are distinct, Itsekiri is not. Was ur state not under Bendel before? Does that make you a benin man? Some part of ilaje is in Ogun state, which pple some refers to as Ijebu water side (not like there are no Ijebu in that area); does that make the Ilajes Ijebu?

While Ilaje and Itsekiri are very similar, Owo and Ijebu(apart from their singing intonation) are similar to Ilaje and Itsekiri.

An itsekiri man that understand Itsekiri will understand Ilaje and Yoruba. All these Itsekiri language is not related to anything is politically motivated. The earlier u stopped deceiving yourself the better for you.

Itsekiri would have originated from Yorubas who migrated to Warri, hence the similarities in language but that does not make them Yoruba. It has nothing to do with hatred or maybe you should be asked what is your hatred for Itsekiri that you want them to lose their identity and be Yoruba? Itsekiris have lived in the Warri coastal region of Nigeria for hundreds of years and have formed a different culture from the Yorubas, different native attires and different systems than is found in Yoruba regions in general. Even the food is distinctly different. To call them Yoruba at this point merely because the languages are similar is an insult to all this.

DEMOCRACY IS CHECKS AND BALANCES TO AVOID LAWLESSNESS

Thanks... but where is the law, where is the democracy, where is the checks and balances? Did you vote for corruption, do you see the politicians arrested on the regular after how much they steal?

With the level of corruption in this nation, the level of poverty, and the fact that things do not seem to be heading towards the right course on their own- This government has shown since the foundation of the country that they can never have the best interest of Nigerians in heart, and while a protest may alleviate symptoms of this every now and then, it has never changed the fact. When is enough enough, how much must we be defiled by our own leaders before we as a people decide it is time to cut them down? Why should many a corrupt Nigerian politician go to a public place, full of their victims, and not fear to be stoned to death?

Hello all,

What kind of economic system do you envision for the future Nigerian economy? Why do you think it would work better when compared to other systems? Also, what are your thoughts on Kwame Nkrumah's vision for a unified socialistic Africa? Do you think it is a bad idea or a good idea, why?
