Greetings All, I was given unconditional offer at University of Bolton. The payment plans are : Initial Deposit: £3000 At Enrolment: £6250 Start of Semester 2: £4300. With the delay in FORM A, I intend to pay the deposit with black market rate, then put in for FORM A this month for the second payment at enrolment, hoping the payment will have been made by ending September. Is this a good move ?, considering the fact that visa is not always certain. 1 Like |

BALOGUN market had fire outbreaks multiple times within a year and nobody link it to any particular tribe ….. Some useless twitter influences are now parading the public space in APAPA as an igbo dominated market and that it was yorubas that burnt it without any single evidence to back their claims. Online reporters are causing great harm and disunity just to gather gullible followers, they don’t ever report things the way it happens with facts, they are always trying to weep out sentiment out of every tragedy. The earlier will all understand them the better for us. 3 Likes 1 Share |

tipscogreen:Yorubas are religious tolerance, do that make them a problem ?, You prefer Hausa Muslim that kills over little misunderstanding than Yorubas that prefer peace, relate with eachother and get married without letting religion get in their way to live a conflict free life. The Nigerian Medical Association says the Lagos Government has neglected to involve the burgeoning private hospital system within the state in the COVID-19 response coordination. It says the government has, thereby, left a large section of healthcare delivery system in the state out of the global pandemic’s containment loop. It also raised the alarm over what it describes as ‘poor preparedness’ of public hospitals in Lagos to handle the raging global pandemic, even as the state currently maintains 44 of the 65 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country. The Lagos branch of the association, in a communiqué tly signed by its chairman, Dr. Saliu Oseni; and Secretary, Dr. Ramon Moronkola, said, with the isolation and treatment centre at the Lagos Mainland Hospital ,Yaba, becoming inadequate based on the projected rate of rise in number of new cases, the state would soon be overwhelmed. The NMA also decried the inadequate supply of protective equipment, including face masks, hand sanitizers, and other personal protective equipment in most government hospitals in the state. The association observed with regrets that the failure of the government in shutting down port of entry and banning international flights had led to failure of primary prevention of the infection’s spread. The NMA further enumerated what it described as some gaps within the state COVID-19 response that needed to be urgently addressed. “The isolation and treatment centre in Lagos Mainland Hospital Yaba will soon become inadequate based on the projected rate of rise in number of new cases. “There is still inadequate training of back-up health personnel on the management of isolation units in case the current trained staff at Lagos Mainland Hospital or elsewhere become overwhelmed. “That the reports from the NMA Lagos COVID-19 Response Monitoring Crew shows that there are sundry preparedness gaps in many of the public hospitals in the state. “That the current response system has neglected the burgeoning private hospital system within the state in the response coordination, thereby leaving a large section of healthcare delivery system in the state out of the containment loop.“ The association said while it appreciates the need for volunteers, it expresses reservations for the use of retired personnel as frontline personnel because of the vulnerability of their age group. The NMA in the communiqué made some recommendations, which included the immediate establishment of a COVID-19 response committee in all public hospitals saddled with the task of coordinating the entire hospital response protocol and regularly advise on new ways to keep the hospital safe. It also urged the state government to expand the COVID-19 response strategy of the state to include inter-agency collaborations with agencies such as the Nigerian Police, the state and national emergency authorities, the sea- and airport authorities within the state, the Centre for Disease Control, among others, for integrated and holistic response. Commending the efforts of the state government in the fight against COVID-19, the association further recommended, “That doctors in Lagos State share the view that in public health emergencies, doctors and other health workers are the first line of defense and the last line of retreat, and that as such, we are fully ready to cooperate and work with the LASG in any and all capacities to contain this pandemic within the state and the country at large.” “That the safety of doctors and other health workers is paramount, and as such, LASG must intensify efforts in procurement and distribution of personal protective equipment within the hospitals in Lagos. “There is also urgent need for expansion of the welfare packages for doctors and other health-workers in the center of the pandemic. These should normally include life insurance and temporary accommodation for high-risk workers to prevent risks to their families.” https://healthwise.punchng.com/lagos-has-left-out-private-hospitals-in-checking-covid-19-spread-nma/ |

Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Dr. Abayomi Ajayi, has said that women are not the only persons exposed to infertility, but men also experience it. Ajayi, who is the Managing Director, Nordica Fertility Centre, Lagos, said couples share 50-50 responsibilities in cases of infertility. In an interview with our Correspondent on the need for couples seeking In-Vitro Fertilization to be well informed about the various treatment methods available, Ajayi said, “Many people don’t know that most times, 50 percent of the cause of infertility is with the man and the remaining 50 percent is with the woman. “It is also annoying to hear men complain or quarrel with their wives for having only girls, when they are the ones who determine the baby’s sex. “It is the man that determines the sex of the baby. So, we need a lot of education in Africa. It is not the way we see things that they are, sometimes.” Speaking on recipient circle and the categories of women who could benefit from such method of IVF treatment, the physician urged people to stop mistaking egg donation for surrogacy. “Recipient circle is a method where someone donates egg to another for conception. But the problem is that people mistake it for surrogacy and they don’t understand the difference between surrogacy and recipient circle. “Recipient circle only involves using another person’s egg. You are going to carry the pregnancy yourself, unlike in surrogacy when another person carries the baby. “These two are what we call third party reproduction, in the sense that another person needs to help the family. “Babies born through this process will not have the genetic composition of the woman who is carrying the baby because the embryo comes from the egg and sperm. But the baby will have the genetic composition of the man in the union –the sperm that you used.“ According to him, beneficiaries of recipient circle are those who have stopped making their own eggs, either due to age (40 years and above), or women with genetic diseases. He also pointed out that those born without eggs due to hormonal problems are also beneficiaries of donor egg. He advised couples seeking IVF treatment to be properly counselled before choosing any method and to also visit certified fertility cenres for treatment. https://healthwise.punchng.com/infertility-is-not-always-a-womans-fault-gynaecologist/
