Letter to igbos By Eizu Uwaoma Hexavia Dear Igbos, The past may either make you bitter or better. I spoke at my home town in Aba over the weekend at an event in front of my father for the first time and my message was simple, “We need to create a better homeland here and you don’t need Buhari or anyone to do that. It starts from us. The solution can come from here and not Abuja. Yes, the present government is replacing old type of corruption with a new type called nepotism but my Dear Igbo Brothers, haven’t you noticed you’re a genius. It doesn’t make you superior than others but you are special at least.”So what?” is my attitude to life. So what if you are not given a chance. Look at your classmates or your family and you’d notice that equal opportunity does not guarantee equal outcome. You need no validation, not even by politics. You survive anywhere that is why you are everywhere. Pick that up and be creative. Face Your Work. Stop Selling To Our kids the same old National Bitterness. Black Americans did that from slavery and that’s why they are the most backward in America. Blacks in South Africa have the same challenge after apartheid. If you don’t forgive, forget and overwrite with a better strategy, you can’t move on. Look at things with an unbiased and clear mind and you’ll participate better. Your own leaders haven’t represented you well. Ask them questions back home before you look up Abuja. It took an Obama to be in the White House because he had parent who didn’t sell that same old black power bitterness of being black (maybe because he was raised majorly by white people). He was also excellent that he flawed any discrimination to emerge. Excellence is the best weapon for discrimination, shout out to Kachikwu of NNPC, Dora of NAFDAC, Peter Obi of Anambra, Soludo of CBN (the difference is clear isn’t it). A time will come where this country will look up to excellence and not association. You may be politically irrelevant, but if we took out any atom of bitterness and faced what we have, our economic brilliance, creativity, wisdom and entrepreneurial spirit, we can collaborate more, we can buy back everything we lost and more, including power and that freedom if we still need it. This for me is how tribalism and race can be fought. Let’s build something tangible like the Jews have done, other things like power will align. It is just the principles of life. So face your work, at least you have one. Things can either drain or inspire you. I wrote 5 steps to fight discrimination. Step 1 of 5, 1.NO ONE REALLY RESPECTS YOU IF THEY DON’T THINK YOU HAVE A BACK UP. The Chinese, Indian and Italian gangs are more bloody than black gangsters (which is even exaggerated in movies and Hip Hop), however no one touches them because they know if they do, there are people who will fight for them. It may even become an international issue as they come from a community that is powerful. This is one of the most powerful concept. But let’s be real, there’s no real power without unity and progress. this means finance also. DEALING WITH CONFLICTS AND TEAMS In a place of more than one, there will always be incompatibility of goals, the dictionary calls this conflict. As you become more successful, everything becomes more political. As a CEO, understand the following : 1.Business is a subtle war. And a war has a series of battles. Choose your battles careful, learn to lose some battles so you can win the war. 2. In the words of Aristotle, "it is the mark of a superior mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it". 3. Conceal your intention. Spending all your time in announcing revenge is like drinking a cup of poison and expecting the enemy to die. When angry, know you're angry (self awareness) but maintain your inner peace, you'd need it to strike! 4. Be positive. Don't let the outter noise (CH) drown your inner voice (PT). Positive Thinking (PT) & Challenges (CH) are like Water & Acid. In high school chemistry, we are taught that if you pour water (PositiveThinking) into an acid (CHallenges) you'll have an explosion! but if you pour acid (CHallenges) into water (PositiveThinking, PT) you'll have a solution. So what are you, an acid or a solution. Who listened to Michelle Obama's Speech at the conventions a few days ago. Look, my take away is, whether as Boyfriends and Girlfriends, Husbands and Wife, one person in a relationship can not and should not be significantly smarter, more intelligent than the other. This is one of the reasons why we encourage the recent trend of couples who attend the Masterclass together, just so they can also together be a part of the HexavianBusinessClub together. We need not just strong people, but strong families with strong core values and success. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZNWYqDU948 Whether it is Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Munroe, Jay-z and Beyonce, Bonnie and Clyde, Michelle and Obama, Will smith and Jada Pinkett, Julius Caesar and Cleoptra, Bill and Hillary Clinton are just my case study out of the not so many people who have succeeded in being brands of both success and love as their lifestyle explains how a complete life requires you having someone that can complement your drive without a decline. To them, a great marriage and career can be merged, and also as a great marriage and relationship isn’t far from having a smart, skilled and successful partner who loves and respect you so much without being too mushy to the point of complete dependency, perhaps its best to have someone that can complement your speed, success and swag. In business, one of the most important skills you must have if you want your brand to grow is emotional intelligence. This is the ability understand the emotions of your customers and use them to your advantage. With this you can transfer an emotion or evoke an emotion in your customer through you product such that the product becomes more of a necessity. For example Coca-Cola came up with the share-a-coke-with strategy. Infact it got so serious that if your lover did not buy a coke for you with your name on it, you relationship was in trouble. In their advert they showed a young boy buying one for a girl with her name on it and like a balloon that just popped, she fell. Coca-Cola was only playing with our emotions. A coke makes friendship stronger. So look for specific emotions you can trigger in your customers through your product. Is it excitement, nostalgia, love? Find it and use it to your advantage. Young people would love stuff more energetic and hip while the older ones prefer solitude. Let's go further ahead. Eizu© |

#MotivationMonday on HBC. Today, we explore *shyness and the Introverted*. This is dedicated to the Monitoring Spirits here. People who follow threads here but hardly respond. Hexavian Book Review, The Book, Quiet by Susan Cain. who's read the book? We had a a chance to review it at The Outliers, a very private book reading and book club in Parkview Ikoyi over the weekend and I thought I should write about it so everyone can benefit too. Quiet is a direct comparison of Extroverts, Introverts and Ambiverts (guys who sit on the balance. The pivot between Ying and Yang). I wish Fani Kayode read that book a few years ago, I wish Dino Malaye and Fayose can read it now and then it on to Donald Trump. Quiet. I urge everyone to read it now that they can, It is a New York Times bestseller titled QUIET: The Power of Introverts in A World That Can’t Stop Talking, The book reveals one of my biggest secrets, secrets shared by all public figures and extroverts (it is on how after all the noise we make, we value our "me' time for retrospects. After all the openness and interactions with the limelight, we always find a cave to recharge our expended energy). It's a book on creative energy and solitude. Solitude creates creativity, and a a powerful tool for entrepreneurs. Spiritually, it creates an ambiance for God to talk to us. Listen in it. Solitude is key. The world is full of noise, which is the cause of conflicts and battles. However, some of the greatest battles will be fought and won in the chambers of your soul, mind and heart. My mentor, the late Chaz B will always quote Proverbs 4:23, "Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it flows the issues of life" . Introversion is something we should all be at times. At least for half of the time. At least know how to ire or tolerate people who are. This is because, at least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over working in teams. It is to introverts—Rosa Parks, Chopin, Michael Jackson, Dangote, Dr. Seuss, Steve Wozniak—that we owe many of the great contributions to society. Silence can be golden, it’s a sleep that nourishes the soul. However, I am extrovert with introvert tendencies, I guess that makes me an ambivert. The truth is, I was never really shy. I was actually way more talk active growing up. To me these days, my concept is, when you feel you have said a lot, have nothing else to say, else say nothing. And even when I feel like I have a strong point to still make, I just take action in silence. Silence could be a very loud way of saying “I’m tired of explaining to people who don’t care to understand” . So I just did it. In Quiet, Susan Cain argues that we dramatically undervalue introverts and shows how much we lose in doing so. Research has shown that there's zero correlation between being the best talker and having the best ideas. Also introvert shouldn't suggest being dumb or boring. It actually suggests depth. She charts the rise of the Extrovert Ideal throughout the twentieth century and explores how deeply it has come to permeate our culture. She also introduces us to successful introverts—from a witty, high-octane public speaker who recharges in solitude after his talks, to a record-breaking salesman who quietly taps into the power of questions. ionately argued, superbly researched, and filled with indelible stories of real people, Quiet has the power to permanently change how we see introverts and, equally important, how they see themselves. I urge everyone to read this New York Times bestseller QUIET: The Power of Introverts in A World That Can’t Stop Talking, I wish Fani Kayode read that book a few years ago, I wish Dino Malaye and Fayose can read it now and then it on to Donald Trump. Quiet. 1.Business and life is a subtle war. And a war has a series of battles. Choose your battles careful, learn to lose some battles to silence, just so you can win the war. 2. In the words of Aristotle, "it is the mark of a superior mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it". I AM NOT INTO BUSINESS, I AM INTO PROBLEMS AND PEOPLE. I JUST HAPPEN TO SOLVE THESE PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS, AS A BUSINESS!!! Let me explain.... I hear people talk about the dwindling economy like it's an earthquake. It is just a damn problem. To me that's already a solution. I love problems. I care less about what the current exchange rate is or what the economists say. As a matter of fact, every problem is an opportunity, depending on your perception and the realm upon which you play in. I believe that to every loss, there's a win somewhere. I rather find where the win is. The winning right now is not in our oil or any other natural resources, but in THE BUSINESS OF PEOPLE. In turbulent times, customers become careful of spending, so to justify what to buy, they'll naturally demand for more. What more are you giving than the usual. A business is like a relationship, to make a partner stay, is to ask " What experience can you give them that they can't get anywhere else?" Our lives and businesses will do much better if we stopped looking at the economy, the market or our products, and then start looking at the people. You're wrong assuming that the value proposition of your business is about the product. It is not. It’s about the customer and how you are going to make their lives better. Don't see things from your view, the view of a CEO or employee; see things from the view of the customer. That's why Starbucks is among the top 20 simply by selling coffee (the same thing your aboki gateman sells). It’s because their main ideology is "We are not in the coffee business serving people. We are in the people business, serving coffee".-Starbucks Your business is not about products, but people. Practice empathy, keep your eyes on your people (customers, employees, competitors and other stakeholders) this season. The secret to succeeding in this time comes from looking at everyone and every problems with just one question in mind, "How can I help?". #GoodMorning, ©Eizu, Hexavia! Business by Speak2klein: 1:22pm On Jun 30 Hello everyone, I practically kept willing investors on hold concerning the car wash business because I was looking for a location. Location is one of the key factors that determines the success or failure of this kind of business, that's why I took my time in finding one. Interestingly, I got a few "ideal" locations but they were either already taken for the same purpose (I would usually say "this one don blow"wink or were "government" properties. Now I can say I have found one location though not exactly cheap but it's near perfect. I am ready for business. Willing investors please me via [email protected] or 09091772274 let's make money together. Thank you smiley |
