According to the information available on the website, renewal has only commenced for those that applied prior to lockdown in order to clear the backlog of applications.
Currently reside in Swansea and would not want to be refused upon arrival.

always try to get your quote through phone calls. It way cheaper than using the website tool. I make use of Adrian flux brokers. They give best quotes. Try give them a call! Let me know the quote they will give you afterwards.

I checked their site, put in my details, they called me, gave me an unacceptable offer that I refused. So they switched me to another company.
The other company took all my details, and gave me an even worse offer, which I rejected. Then they connected me to a 3rd company.
The same thing happened again.

I was on the phone for 45 minutes, was routed 4 times to 3 different companies. And none of them gave me a quote that was less than £1000. One even quoted £1700

SOmeone told me to try elephant, a cheap insurance company that operates under iral. I called them today and their offer is still above £1000.

I think USwitch uses Confused.com. The cheapest offer they offered as at Tuesday was above 900. But I just did it again with modified data and got one below £800.

Call same iral and tell them you want your NCB that you are leaving as you got a better offer with another company. They will most likely ask you how much offer you got. Tell them you got £550 of £600 and ask them if they can match it.

Your post code, model of car, your age (over 25s are seen as lower risk than u25s, additional driver (try to add an experience driver without any claims in the last 5 years), NCB and your profession are determinants of car insurance quote.

Tweaking your job title can also help.

I've come to discus car insurance.

I did my first comprehensive Car Insurance last September with iral (Black Box). I paid a total of £1085 (over 10 months). I assumed annual mileage of 10000 miles, but so far I've driven just over 5000 miles. £500 voluntary excess.
I used the blackbox until December when they asked me to send it back, which I did. Whle using the blackbox, iral sent me weekly emails grading my driving. I stated out very good but the last 2 months, I got poor ratings (mostly due to regularly driving just above the speed limit ).
I didn't make any claims. I had one small minor accident with another car in december, but the driver and I agreed to handle it without involving insurance.

This iral insurance expires in a few weeks. I was looking forward to paying between £400 - $600 as renewal.

However, iral is now offering me £979 to renew. This is basically the same amount as last year, and I'm not going to pay this much to renew.

I've tried getting quotes from comparison websites (USwitch, GoCOmpare, CompareTheMarket) and the lowest quote I'm getting is £800 from Marshmallow and £816 from RAC (using another Blackbox).

I checked aviva's website, and they offered £980.

I'm confused. Am I doing something wrong to be getting these high renewal quotes?

Can someone recommend a cheaper car insurance that is not available on these comparison sites?

The original credit limit was 8k. After about 6 months, it increased to 12k. Then it increased to 15k a week before the 1st full year of use.
I've cancelled it cos I can't afford to pay £140 as fees in this covid19 economy.

But I really enjoyed using the card. I gained so many points, which I used to get free stuff on amazon.

I was preparing to go enter London to for port/NIN waka, but yesterday the High Commission announced they're closing because of the wuhan virus.

Before the panic buying started, I already bought enough bottled water and tissue paper when I heard some Australians were doing it. I have been buying hand gel from amazon for years so I have enough.
Over the past week, it's been amazing to see how empty of tissue some stores have been. . Even kitchen rolls and all sorts of wet wipes are out of stock. I can't find pasta in shops. I managed to get a pack of baked beans recently. No handwash liquid soap.

Even some drugs are scarce. My friend near London drove to several pharmacies before he could find paracetamol.
Thankfully, I have stocked up on paracetamol, vitamin C, multivitamins, and hay fever pills.

I'm thankful I'm now driving and don't rely on public transport. Any day now, I'm expecting to be told to stay home and not come to the office.

And I believe the situation is going to get worse over the next 1-4 weeks. All I can do is prepare, wait, and hope.

When I was doing a project in suffolk last year, I had no time or space to cook. And there was only so much fish/chips, pizza, chinese and cheesy stuff I could order.
I made arrangements with a Nigerian woman at Ipswich to cook food for me. Every fortnight, I'd drive 3 hrs (to and fro) to collect my jollof rice, fried rice and gizdodo in large containers.
