it's an old thread but it will seem you are more interested in his failure from the way you commented (without even reading what he said correctly).
FYI, he stocked 4,625 per pond. He has each pond at 40 x 40 x 4ft or (12 x 12 x 1.2m) which gives about 172,800L of water per pond. Meaning, each fish has about 37.4L. How is this over-stocking?

OmoOshodi:
Follow all he posted at ur own peril....how can one stock 18,000 fishes in that small pond and expect a good outcome.

N.B: the reason why the guy no come back to update is simple......E DON FAIL after harvest.......

In my 10yrs of fish farming.....they won't listen to you until harvest day....they will now start crying

Guy dn learn hard way.....e dn chop gbese grin grin grin grin grin

Don't make empty promises, @kpas4kpas2. You can't guarantee any of those boys and antecedents have proved that.
If you fail to send them or they decide to leave his/her farm afterwards or did not even show up to start with, your customer is at risk of losing his payment. Simple.
You only come up with excuses and promises to make amends and probably find a way to demand for more money.

Matobicfarms:

Ok, but my last question how far can you go as a guarantor? Asked because, there is a lot of responsibilities required.I will need two workers possibly extend one contract after the first season. But should be people you can guarantee and traceable. If you agree with me we take it further.
kpas4kpas2:

Yes I give workers that I guaranteed and traceable in case of eventualities.

You are correct.
In fact, I believe that he who hasn't seen hell, has not made any progress. If not, how do you recognize paradise?
No matter what sir, you can't win when you are dead.
Don't test the depth of water/river with a foot, use stick/rod.
Aquadude16:

Baba you are 100% right.
Let me share my little experience.
I relocated to a bigger site late last year to expand my production. I use same template I used in farming my crops in my previous farm but I can tell you sir that i have being failing back to back till I hit the rock bottom. Millions of naira wasted since I doubled my production . I wan buy sniper drink but when I see say e cost malt and milk I change my mind.
Tho things has begin to change gradually.
Farming is not for the mild heart oooo.
And I would advise any farmer to test the river with a foot when ever you want to upscale your production or when changing location.
If possible do soil analysis

Thank you.
No yellowing or spots, just curling up
Farmerakinloye6:

Give yourself some credits boss, you are a farmer and one bold enough to start a vegetable farm cool.
Tell you a secret, peppers have being my bane... and I'm committed to surmounting it.
Going by your experience and locally received info, drought may be the case untill our Ogas nullify this claim.
Thank you.

I am not a farmer, i actually started planting tomatoes last month because of this thread so my input might not be corrected. Noticed same on my plants few days back and I watered them very well. they were back to normal within few hours.
solarized: 7:10am On Apr 18, 2023
Hello everyone, is this normal or sign of a disease/deficiency?
Some leaves are curling. Farmers in my location said it's heat of the sun and that it will be ok with better weather.

Thanks so much Sir.

I'm glad you updated this thread. I came here when I could not get through to you.
I acknowledge your efforts in these past few days.
What happened between you both is best left to you both since Emma is not here to defend himself.
Be that as it may, I'm willing to give you a second chance if you are ready to prove yourself.
What do you say? Are you ready to prove yourself?

Greetings to you all.
Oga Solarized, I'm so sorry for all pain and delay coursed. It wasn't a plan or deliberate attempt to do as alleged. The truth/end of everything must surely come out!
As I explained myself to you, Emmanuel Bitrus has coursed so much damage to me which I can't explain all here but for the General public's information; anybody do any business with Emmanuel Bitrus in my behalf does so at his or her own Risk. I
I have disengage him totally. Doing anything with him at your own Risk.
I have evidence/witnesses of clients he collected money on my behalf without my consent without giving them workers that I can send to you to attest what I'm saying.
We are sorting it out please.

Farmerakinloye6:
do you use quality manure, and how many times have you applied fertilizer? This your tomato stalk shows not enough nutrient. You try! but can still do more.

I applied NPK moments ago. Transplant was done 10-11th of March.
I sprayed Haifa Bonus liquid fertilizer 5 days ago.
No Manure used so far due to its unavailability.
Thanks.

You can replant sir, that if they are of the same sizes and age

Farmerakinloye6:
I will advise you not to do supply with young seedlings. if you do, you will notice both will go at thesame time.

They are not of same age, so I bet it's best not to replace them then.
Thanks.

They will recover in few days time.
Just continue watering

The tomatoes have improved/settled in their new home.
I lost a few and wish to ask of it's wise to replace them from my new nursery batch?

My observation on the recent experience is that:
1. The young tomatoes were too tall at the time of transplanting them. We had to dig deeper holes to accommodate the height. But, the workers that did the transplant did not fill the soil properly to hold the root+stem. There was vacuum beneath the soil and the plant.
2. The transplant operation started in the morning through the afternoon. The hot weather of the day and subsequent days of no rainfall stressed the plant as well.

Can I gap-fill with younger plants from the nursery please?

You need to ON your phone to answer calls and reply messages on Whatsapp Mr Alfred (@kpas4kpas2).
I heard a lot about you from Emma that I wish you can clear.
You took my money and decide to OFF your phone.
You claim your supervisor is bringing the boys the last time we spoke but he (Emma) said you didn't give him any money for transportation to me. I ALREADY PAID YOU 40K FOR TRANSPORT FARE.
It's two weeks tomorrow Mr Alfred. Let's hear from you.

DON'T LET ME OPEN A FILE FOR YOU WITH THE AUTHORITIES

How long does it take tomatoes to recover from transplant shock?
Mine is two days now and the plant will stand erect in the morning and evening only.
Is there anything that can be done to assist the plant?
I observe some of the plants got burned leaves from the scorching sun from day one of the transplant. Farmers around me said they will recover. Is this true?
Thanks as you reply on these concerns.

Thank you boss cool

in the absence of SAAF, can fungu force be used?
the agro dealer I checked is not having SAAF but Skywalk and Fungu Force.

the height should be 1.8meter why distance between poles should be 90cm. Some people do it like cucumber but I don't do my own like that.

Thanks for your prompt response.
Poles for my cukes are 3m apart to save bamboo cost.
I'll try your recommendation on a part and use 3m on some other parts to see which will be suitable (pocket-wise grin)

Hi bosses in the house,
What will be the recommended height for the trellis poles for Platinum F1 and distance between them?
Can I stake it as done in my Cucumbers?
Thank you.

Good morning everyone, I'm looking for someone to share the cost of buying 2000m driptape with. I just need 1000m for 1plot or is it possible to get 1000m driptape?

Yes, it's possible to get 1000m but why not buy a 1500m bundle? You will find it cheaper than the cost per meter on a 1000m drip-tape.
Check my signature for my number if you are interested.
Thank you.

i am glad to hear you have already obtained the needed items.
i may have shared a few items with you.
I also bought mine in bulk but i do have a few accessories left.

klbakare:

my brother, it's a long story. Although I have gotten drip tapes now, but the challenge is that all of the accessories are also sold in bulk. like I need 15 connectors now, I want to buy a pack of 100. if I decide to use ground s, I'd also have to buy a pack of 100. it's tiring my brother. cucumbers consume water like mad and watering with bucket is nauseating. Life is really hard for a DIYer in Nigeria. I am in Oyo State. Nairaland sellers are terrible, I have spoken or done business with some of them. Do you have any deal?

Hello Mr. okoroemeka, it's been an interesting time on this thread and farming cucumber too. My first trial was quite interesting, and I think I presently have a new job now. I decided to seek more training in addition to the info that you have piled up here and that led me to attend Kuch99 trainings on cucumber and tomatoes. I am armed with more information and I want to do another trial which I strongly believe will be better than the first one. so I will be doing almost 200 sacks planted with 2 seeds each.

The only challenge I have right now is that I want to add drip irrigation to my setup seeing that watering with hand for the 50 bags I did last is not a small task. I'm presently looking for where to buy small quantity of drip tapes like 100m. all those I have asked do not sell such small quantities. The least I have seeing is 500m and the emitter spacing is 0.3m when I need 0.5m. I don't know if you have any lead to buy such small quantity. Otherwise, I'm presently on the verge of ordering from china. I have seeing suppliers who will sell small quantities even as small as 100metres. I will update you as I progress because I want to achieve at least 10fruits per plant, I will be needing all the mentorship I can get.

On behalf of myself and everybody that has benefitted from all the stuffs you put up here, I'm saying THANK YOU!
Do you have the drips now or you 're still searching?
where is your location?

Good afternoon everyone,
I was searching for Stake netting when I got this thread on Google search. I have actually landed on page 60 or thereabout.
Because I found the content interesting, I went back to page 1 and read all through last page (Pg. 118).
I truly commend the OP and other contributors. The contents that I have collected here have changed my view of my planned planting process and are absolutely priceless. Kudos to you all.
I have compiled the following and correct me please should I have gotten it/anything wrong.
Treat land with animal manure or apply as basal content (preferably chicken. Though Rabbit dung may be better but scarce).
Manure may be "spiced" with inorganic fertilizers for better outcome (though this may also be a catastrophe if not well perfected).
Basal application of Wormforce 2-3g per hole against Nematodes and can also act as pesticide during raining season when pest attack is not as rampant as dry season.
Urea @ 2.5-4kg per 100l of water from 2 weeks but stop after 3-4 applications to avoid runaway growth
Second manure application will be done day 14-20 before flowering stage
Then NPK will be applied from day 28. Fertilize after each harvest or at most every two harvests. Use Folia sprays for other nutrients supply. NPK should be avoided as a spray in dry season to avoid burn.
NPK 20:20:20 @ tendrils and NPK 15:15:15 @ flowering

TIPS:
Always do market research before planting.
Type of cucumber to plant varies with location and market requirement.
If available, drip irrigation is best + good mulching practice too.
Plant high yielding but dominant female flowering types with male dominant types
Spray boiled sugar solution to attract bees and other pollinators.
Alternating Fungicide brands, foliar Fertilizer will be applied every week from day 14.
Insecticides will be applied when there is sign of insect attack.
Base fertilizer may not be necessary with fertigation method in place.
If you will use herbicides in land clearing, apply glysophate and wait 2 weeks before planting cucumber.
It’s good to use systemic insecticide + soil nematicide.
Allow more space when planting during rainy season than dry season. Choking your cukes plant at lesser spacing may translate to lower yield.
Laraforce + DDForce has been used to battle whiteflies.
100g zforce + 30g saaf per knapsack sprayer to combat DM and rotate fungicides to avoid resistance.
Haifa Bonus: Green park = vegetative development while; Pink pack = Flowering period use.
Most fungicides are applied @ 50g per knapsack; while it’s 30-40ml for insecticides.
Plantix app on playstore for disease diagnosis
Above all, don’t count your chickens until they are hatched. Follow good farming practice towards good yield and money will come. Don’t punch your calculator until you have harvested your cukes, else you will Fail.
