The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, chapter, has given a 21-day strike notice to its management.
A statement signed by Mr Isaac Ojemhenke on behalf of the Secretary-General of the association, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja, said that the notice took effect from Oct. 8, 2015.
It said that the action became imperative to ensure that the abuse of extant rules and procedures in service, abuse of the scheme of service and acts of insurbodination were addressed.
It noted that there had been an attempt to “ remove demarcation between the Registrar (Trademark and Patent) cadre and other cadres ‘’ in the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment in 2012.
This, the statement said, constituted an abuse of the scheme of service which structured the public service into cadres for the purpose of professionalism.
The statement further said that Mr Adekunle Adeyemi, who had been redeployed to the Federal Ministry of Water Resources by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation through circular OHCSF/CMO/EMD/002/S.I/T/II dated Sept. 4, 2015, had “vowed not to proceed on the posting.
“The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment refused to enforce the deployment circular while Mr Adekunle O. Adeyemi, has vowed not to proceed on posting since 2oth September, 2015, against Public Service Rules Cap 030301 (b) and (m).

It noted that the non-enforcement of the deployment circular by the acting permanent secretary, in spite of several meetings with the association on the need for him to enforce discipline signified that “he accepted tacitly, the insubordinate act of Adekunle’’.

“The association has resolved that the deployment of Adeyemi from the Commercial Law Department should be enforced and his violation of Public Service Rule should be sanctioned, ‘’it stated.

It also urged Adeyemi to comply with the OHCSF posting instruction and hand over to the most senior officer in the Registrar (Trademark Patent) cadre in line with the Act and scheme of service.

“In the event Adeyemi refuses to do the needful at the deadline set, we, as a union, have decided to shut down the office of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment nationwide to press our demand, ‘’it added.(NAN)

before 1991, Does Lagos as capital of Nigeria have a head of state and state military or president and governor there too? Jamb doesnt even recognise FCT as a state except may be now and that is why when they are seeking ission in higher institutions, they immediately pick up indigine forms from the neighbouring state to their communities which are the original states they have been moved to in 1976 when FCT was originally conceived [/quote][/s]

@Onankpaba, thanks for ur concern, Nigerians across ethnic and religious lines have to realize that this is an injustice that have continually been meted out to us by successive governments, and we are appealing to the present government of change to reverse the trend, and treat us like other Nigerians, it's said" an injury to one, is an injury to all"

Mr Femi Adesina, may i also ask that "is there anything wrong giving young ones chance to develop their political career and to serve their father land?

Our youths can do better than the old men. They shouldn't be used only when politicians need their votes.

The Presidency yesterday reacted to the intense criticisms generated by the age grade of the prospective ministers, urging Nigerians to evaluate the nominees on the basis of their mental alertness, not on age defined by number. It insisted that there is nothing wrong with the average age of the 21 nominees being 53.

The oldest of the pack is Audu Ogbe who is 68 years of age. Six others are in their sixties, eleven are in their fifties while two others are said to be 48 years old.

But speaking in a Channels Television programme monitored by DAILY POST in Abuja, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, argued: “These people who have been nominated are qualified and are Nigerians. Talking of age, there is a saying that “age does not matter. It does not mind, if you don’t mind it.” I don’t think that age is an issue. And talking of age, you should rather talk about mental and chronological age. If you have a chronological age of 30, which makes you a youth, and mental age is not at par, what do we gain? Nothing.

“And you may have a chronological age of 68, which is the age of the oldest of the nominees, if that nominee now has a mental age of 15 or 20, what do we gain? We must rather talk of the mental age rather than the chronological age. It is not the chronological age that matters as long as that person has what he is bringing to the table,” he stated.

FIFA President Joseph Blatter on Thursday said he was not given an opportunity to be heard by the organisation’s Ethics Committee before it provisionally suspended him for 90 days.

“Blatter is disappointed that the Ethics Committee did not follow the Code of Ethics and Disciplinary Code, both of which provide for an opportunity to be heard,’’ Blatter’s lawyers, Lorenz Erni and Richard Cullen, said in a written statement.

“The ethics committee based its decision on a misunderstanding of the actions of the Attorney General in Switzerland, which has opened an investigation but brought no charge against the president,’’ the lawyers added.

They said Swiss prosecutors would be obliged by law to dismiss the case if their investigation, barely two weeks old, did not establish sufficient evidence.

“Blatter looks forward to the opportunity to present evidence that will demonstrate that he did not engage in any misconduct, criminal or otherwise,’’ the statement added.
