[quote author=igbodefender post=62824695]Buhari has a clear advantage currently, with Tinubu, the improving economy and ers of 2023 Igbo Presidency on his side. But Atiku won't want Kwankwaso, a considerable heavyweight complicating matters for him in PDP. Anyway, Buhari may still convince Kwankwaso to stay in APC. - Former vice president Atiku Abubakar is allegedly reaching out to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, ex-governors ahead of 2019 general elections - Atiku had on Friday, November 24 announced his resignation from the ruling APC - He accused President Muhammadu Buhari-led government of sidelining the youth Sources close to Atiku’s latest move have said the ex- VP is reaching out to some serving and former governors of both the APC and PDP, all in an effort to increase his political weight ahead of 2019, Daily Trust reports. NAIJ.com gathered that that one of the sources involved in the talks said, “There are some former PDP governors who ed the APC with the dream of being carried along but have been left hanging, and there are serving governors of both the APC and PDP; they are the people Atiku is courting now and earnestly seeking for their . “Historically, PDP governors determine who gets what during conventions and considering that Atiku has his strong structure and money on ground to execute his project, he wants to work closely with them; in fact he might take one of them from the south if he gets the presidential ticket,” he said. Another source said some APC governors who believe in Atiku’s pedigree might not defect now until probably when he fully settles in PDP and see what the convention will look like. “There are many serving and former of the National Assembly who are in talks with him; they would leave the APC for the PDP provided the high profile consultation Atiku is making clicked,” he said. Daily Trust also gathered that Atiku is also in talks “directly and by proxy” with former President Goodluck Jonathan and other leaders of the party to see how they could work together. “He is trying to reach out to the likes of Bamanga Tukur, Adamu Chiroma, Edwin Clark and as you know, Jonathan will definitely like somebody with Atiku’s credentials as PDP flag-bearer,” the source said. “And thank God, the Waziri Adamawa has reached out to the former president and though all of them have issues with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, they are trying to cement their relationships with him,” he said. https://www.naija.ng/1137513-atiku-allegedly-reaches-jonathan-apc-governors-2019.html |

Pls this is for joke oooo. Dear Paul and Peter, I have just been informed that one of you unilaterally announced the ‘split’ of the crisis-prone P-Square. That’s an act of self-determination. It is treasonable and worthy of classification as terrorism. I recall that your late mother paid me a visit at my Daura home a couple of years ago. We shared dinner and discussed late into the night. And we agreed that the unity of P-Square would forever remain non-negotiable. My aides told me that you 'separated' sometime last year, tasted uneventful solo musical careers, reconciled, and went back to making great music. I missed the story. Nigerian newspapers conspired to leave me in the dark by not doing cartoon impressions of the development. But you can’t try that secessionist stunt on my wide-awake watch. You were made a group by fetal amalgamation. You were created twins. Your unity is a settled matter. I am aware that your relationship has been dogged by rancor, discord and spite for a long while. You barely manage to function as one singing unit. Yet, you must endure the attrition and accept that you have been trapped by fate. You must continue to collaborate and conjure love songs from your shared bitterness. None of you can go his separate way. You must stay together even though your group can hardly agree on anything except that you both mutually resent each other and can’t address the root cause of the contention. I am told both of you are talented dancers. You must quickly return to the normal of hostile partnership. You don’t want my troops to teach you a lesson in Python Dance. -President and Commander-in-Chief. http://allnews.uodoo.com/en-ng/detail/965345505010427?app=browser_card&uc_param_str=dnfrpfbivessgimibtbmntnijblauputoggdnw&opt=list_auto&uc_biz_str=action%3Abase.openwindow%7aram%3AS.object%3Dinfoflow%3BS.token%3D1002%3BS.scene%3D1002%3Bl.channel%3D10069901%3Bend&entry=browser&entry1=card&entry2=list&reco_id=05eb525e-f8ee-467b-8068-7ea04ca4512e.

A Pro-Democracy organisation, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), yesterday accused the President Muhammadu Buhari istration of maltreating Ndigbo in same manner the Rohingya ethnic groups are being treated by the regime in Myanmar. It also described as unconstitutional the military occupation of the South East of Nigeria in what is called Operation Python Dance II, saying the deployment was an unnecessary show of force to provoke the civilian population. In a statement by its National Coordinator and Media Affairs Director, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and Zainab Yusuf in Abuja, the group maintained that the millitarisation of the zone violates Sections 217 and 218 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). HURIWA also condemned the alleged invasion likening the incident to criminal and gross violation of human rights as enshrined in chapter four of the nation’s lawbook. The group urged the United Nations and African Union to “note that President Buhari is treating the over 50 million Igbo-speaking people just like the Rohingya tribal people of Burma (Myanmar) through a well-coordinated deprivation and denial of the constitutionally guaranteed freedoms. “We call on the UN and world leaders to take special note of the systematic marginalisation of Igbo people by the current government of Buhari similar to the experiences of the Rohingya ethnic group.” HURIWA said the central government has “persistently alienated Igbo-speaking persons from top notch defence and political positions in clear violations of Section 14 (3) and (4) of the constitution and also failed to stop the incessant violent invasion of villages by armed herdsmen, resulting in the killing of scores of innocent persons in the South East.” They went on: “The failure to appoint an indigenous military chief to represent the Igbo which is a major ethnic group violates the constitution which demands equitable distribution of positions to reflect national spread and federal character.” https://t.guardian.ng/news/huriwa-alleges-maltreatment-of-igbo-ethnic-nationality-by-buhari/ |

Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka believes Nigerians felt more secure during the istration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan than under President Muhammadu Buhari. He says the low sense of security Nigerians feel is the major reason behind the clamour for state and community policing. Soyinka said this on Monday in Lagos after a press briefing to unveil the second batch of students travelling to Lebanon for studies. The programme is organised by The Cedars Institute, Lebanon, in collaboration with The Wole Soyinka Foundation. Soyinka also said there are “yawning gaps” in the current istration, adding that the past few years have been that of “economic disaster” for the average Nigerian. “Take simple security for instance. The average citizen feels less secure now than he did a few years ago; that is evident. When people talk about state police, there are reasons for it,” he said. “When they talk about bringing policing right down to the community level, they know what they are talking about. This is also part and parcel of reconstruction or reconfiguration. “The economy, there is a big question about it right now. Fortunately, everybody its that we went through a very bad patch. Right now, it is a question of have we come out of it or not or there is no question at all. “The past few years have been years of real internal economic disaster for the average citizen.’’ Soyinka, however, said there was a question of who was responsible for the sufferings the nation was plunged into in the last two years. When asked about the current debate for a second term for Buhari, the Nobel laureate wondered why the issue is being talked about. “Why are we talking about second term for heaven’s sake?” he asked, adding, “I don’t understand this. I refuse to be part of that discussion. I absolutely refuse to be part of the discussion” He also lent his voice to the recent call for Nigeria to be restructured, saying the nation is “long overdue for reconfiguring”. Soyinka said the proponents of restructuring should not be put off by those saying it is the mind of Nigerians that need to be restructured not the nation itself. He said: “I find it very dishonest and cheap time-serving, trivialising the issue when I hear expressions like ‘it is the mind that needs to be restructured.’ Who is arguing or denying that? Why bring it up? Why is it a substitute? “We are talking about the protocols of association of the constitutive parts of a nation. We are talking of decentralisation. That is another word. This country is over-centralised. “Are you saying we cannot reconstruct the mind and reconstruct the nation at the same time? Call it by whatever name. We are saying that this nation is long overdue for reconfiguring. That is the expression I choose to use now.’’ https://www.thecable.ng/nigerians-feel-less-secure-now-jonathans-istration-says-soyinka |
