The little good news that come out of Nigeria are usually from the SW. That says a lot. Thumbs up to the SW governors and people.

blink182: You are the one not familiar with oil exploration and production, before you even start to argue, go and research what oil exploration cost in average, money invested in developing new fields, then check what the oil majors have invested in deep offshore fields all over the world.

This project will die in the lab. No need for sentiments just work with facts to open your eyes to reality. I do not have time to start explaining the sort of debts the oil majors are in to finance their operations. Agreeing that this crude oil has an immediate future-10 to 20 years to become mainstream material is like agreeing that dangote will be happy and the government in making our refineries run at full capacity to sell pms at N25 a litre after he has borrowed trillions of naira already yielding interest...hell no, instead he could even go as far as toppling the government.
Do your research.

IF it becomes a mainstream process that can be harnessed in commercial quantities. Note the emphasis on 'if'. This is unlikely however. But just I case it does, the oil companies will be the first to cash in on it. They are ENERGY companies and will never allow any newbies to displace them, irrespective of their current natural crude commitments.

blink182: and you think bp, exxon, agip and the rest will just sit and watch? Think again.

You're not familiar with the oil industry. They'll be the biggest investors in the venture. If I show you one of those companies' plans for the next 40yrs you'll be shocked.

Pukkah: Someone should please tell Mr Jonathan to stop talking extempore. He's simply unable to stitch his thoughts together to deliver a coherent, clear, and inspiring speech.

The rambling from an ex-lecturer is exasperating.

See excerpts from the church service:

"For us at this time especially we the politicians that we think we own this country and begin to think about next election and doing what we ought not to do, making statement we ought not to make, writing letters we suppose not to write."

“For those who know about terrorism, country that are infested with terror will hardly get out of it. If you look a country like Pakistan, we even go to Pakistan to train our soldiers, in some parts of Pakistan as we are talking now, they appear to be no government. So this country could have been worst."

Now you understand why we call him a ret-ard.

This and you don't want people to complain? Everyone can now see that this Jonathan is totally blind to and unfazed by all these criticisms. Such a wasteful & irresponsible village boy. His days are numbered sha.

Shame to the old man Obasanjo. This is what his anointed criminals like Gbenga Daniel could not do. It's not too late for him to repent though. Let him start by frustrating out that ret@rd he placed in Aso Rock.
skyfall: 1:44pm On Dec 23, 2013
If this is indeed true, what is Jonathan waiting for? He should arrest Obasanjo and prosecute him IMMEDIATELY. But we all know he can't do that; he's a coward and has too many skeletons in his own cupboard too.
skyfall: 1:40pm On Dec 23, 2013
Since he appointed the commissioners, he's on course. The only people he can't compel are elected officials.

Jonathan is running the most corrupt government in the history of Nigeria, and yet he still wants to come back and destroy the leftover in 2015.

Since it was your brother who told you that you're too flashy, i assume you're within similar economic brackets and we can most definitely rule out inferiority complex or low self-esteem as some feminists have implied here.

I think it's normal for guys to avoid "flashy girls" when looking for whom to marry. Most guys would only want such girl as a girlfriend or sidekick. As a guy, i like to marry a woman who is real and can adapt to different situations if necessary, not a showgirl who thinks she must always wear high heels and human hair to look good. I appreciate a woman who can wake up, wash her face and do a quick school run compared to one who has to wear all the makeup in the world before stepping out.

Another angle to look at it is that a lot (note that i did not say all) of Nigerian girls who try hard to look good are actually runs girls. I personally know a lot of such ladies and it's something most guys are aware of. So they already have that impression in their minds.

While you may be a nice and warm person, what your brother is telling you is that your outward appearance may turn men off because it makes you appear as a showgirl. I know you must be frustrated that men don't get a chance to appreciate the real you. I'll therefore advise you to tone down on the "flashiness" and appear more natural. You don't have to look bad but just appear more natural. Most men appreciate such woman for a wife.
skyfall: 6:17pm On Dec 19, 2013
@OP

While I agree that you may actually marry and survive on your salary until things (hopefully) get better, Nairaland is not where to find the kind of wife you need. Your salary is not enough to buy a mobile phone or human hair for the kind of girls that are mostly here. The other type of women here are those desperados (who are probably much older than you) and will marry virtually any available man. You obviously don't want that.

Only a woman who knows you well can understand your situation and agree to marry you. I know it's hard to find a good woman but talk to friends, responsible women that you know, your church etc. Someone will definitely introduce you to a lady someday. But you also have to be patient. Don't set any deadline - you risk marrying the wrong person that way. 31 is not too old at all. Try and develop yourself while waiting; maybe learn a skill. Not all of us will get good salary jobs. I wish you the best.

I suggest Iceland. Let the cold finish off the good-for-nothing a-hole.

But on a second thought, he shouldn't be removed, his destiny is to balkanize and destroy PDP. That's not fully fulfilled yet.

If you haven't bought that car already, pls don't. The engine in it is very bad. The experts incl Siena have said a lot about it on the forum in the past. Go for a Jap brand instead.

No, we disagree. George Bush is a member of APC and he's one of the people frustrating Jonathan's efforts because he's from a minority tribe.

This Abati never ceases to amaze me. How low can a man stoop? I guess he has no limit, he'd say anything to defend this criminal gang called govt, no matter how blasphemous. As somebody said above, he'd perfectly serve as a Boko Haram spokesperson without any issues.

It is an insult on Mandela's legacy to compare both men. Even Jonathan himself would find that statement ridiculous. It appears he has started sharing the Ogogoro with other people in AsoRock.

I can't imagine how insulted Okupe's children must feel to have this scumbag as a father.

That's if they're not like him sha.

Lagos (and APC govts) need to start acting more responsibly. What's the difference between them and PDP now?

If it's true, why would the woman be suspended for something that's not her fault? I guess it's the commissioner and ministry officials trying to do eye-service now. Gov Fashola should intervene and do the right thing. Totally unfair!

As far as this govt is concerned, there are 2 Nigerias. One is where real Nigerians live - they don't see or care about that one.

The other one is in their imagination; that's the Nigeria where everything is working smoothly and the economy is growing, inflation is reducing and GDP is skyrocketing.

Okonjo-Iweala did not issue the rebuttal because she cares. She wrote it for her masters in the World Bank so they don't find any "unsubstantiated" allegations in her name. She's going back there when she is dumped in 2015.
