Two young men were shot this Sunday morning (28/03/21) at Ifite Awka, Awka South council area of Anambra state.

One of them was shot around bamboo junction Ifite, while the second one happened at a nearby street.

One of the victims who had bullet wounds all over his head was suspected to have died immediately while the other person who was critical was taken to the hospital with a tricycle but his condition is currently unknown.

Both men are yet to be identified as well as the perpetrators whom erby alleged were putting on black with red beret.

A team of police men attached to B Division was already investigating the case, although an attempt to speak with the DPO that led the team proved abortive.

The dead man was taken away by the police.

UPON RECEIPT OF THE COMPLAINT, A PAINSTAKING INVESTIGATION WAS LAUNCHED BY THE UKE DIVISIONAL POLICE OFFICER AND HIS TEAM. CONSEQUENTLY, ON 11/3/2021, THE SUSPECT WAS TRAILED AND ARRESTED AT ADIKPO VILLAGE OF BENUE STATE WHERE THE FOUR MONTHS OLD BABY BOY WAS RECOVERED FROM HER AND TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL EXAMINATION."

The World Health Organization (WHO) has debunked rumor which suggested that coronavirus is airborne and can remain in the air for 8 hours.

The international health agency in its tweet, stated that the virus is mainly transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks. It added that the droplets are too heavy to hang in the air and falls quickly on the floor and surfaces.

Some of the protective measures the WHO listed include keeping 1 meter distance from other people, disinfecting surfaces, washing of hands.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Muhammed Babandede, has tested positive for coronavirus.



The CG, who disclosed this in a WhatsApp message to a PUNCH correspondent this morning, explained that he is already on self-isolation since he returned from the United Kingdom on March 22.


According to PUNCH, a phone call was made and Mr Babandede confirmed the development.

He stated, “Today, I tested positive for COVID-19. I have been on self-isolation since my return from UK on Sunday 22nd of this month with British Airways in Lagos.

“I urge my loved ones, Immigration Officers and Nigerians to pray for me and all those affected.”

Babandede urged immigration officers to continue working with his deputy to move the service forward.

He added, “It is a very difficult time but we can’t change what God destined for us.

“I urge officers to continue working with my able Deputy to further move our Service to another level. As advised by NCDC, I am totally isolated.”

This brings the total tally of confirmed cases in the country to 42.

The Nigerian Center for Disease Control on Tuesday in a Twitter post, said, "Two new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria. One is in Lagos State and one in Ogun.

"One case is a returning traveller, the second case is of a previously confirmed case.

"As at 1:00pm on March 24, there are 42 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria, two discharged, one death."

The Norwegian FA was the first to confirm plans that UEFA's signature international tournament will become Euro 2021 and kick off on June 11, 2021.

Efforts are now being made to ensure that the current season does not become null and void.

UEFA has opened discussions with European football leaders and charged its executive committee with coming up with a plan of action which is acceptable to all concerned.

Part of that process will involve delaying the association’s flagship international event.

A European Championship due to be staged in various cities across the continent was set to get underway on June 12, 2020.

That is no longer feasible, meaning that the event will be postponed until 2021.
