As Ekiti voters troop to the polls tomorrow, a civil society organization, the Situation Room, has appealed to security agencies that would monitor the election to arrest and prosecute whoever is seen buying votes from the electorate. The body commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies on the peaceful and orderly manner with which sensitive materials that would be deployed for the conduct of the poll were distributed on Friday. The Situation Room is a coalition comprising CSOs like the Cleen Foundation, Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), Youth Initiative for Advocacy, Police and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), among others. Briefing journalist in Ado Ekiti during its first preliminary on the Ekiti governorship election, Chairman of the coalition, Clement Nwankwo said the menace of monetized politics should be tackled in the country to sanitise the electoral system. He urged security agencies to shun acts of intimidation on the day of the election to prevent apathy, and that the 30,000 police personnel deployed in Ekiti must be evenly spread to ensure safety cross all the towns and villages. “We have made recommendations to the security agencies on how to tackle vote buying. It is a serious electoral offence that must not be allowed in our country. “So, our security must be up and doing and remain committed to the success of this poll”, he advised. Nwankwo commended the security agencies for sustaining peace on the eve of the election, describing this as a sign that the election will be orderly and credible. The Situation Room maintained that “the political parties must be conduct themselves in a manner that does not encourage violence by their ers, as they will be held liable for their activities that trigger violence. “We call on the security agencies, including Army, police and other arms to assure election observers and electorate of their personal safety and urges voters to go out and peacefully to cast their votes in exercise of their constitutional rights to be part of democratic process. “We reiterate that all elections must demonstrate the highest possible commitment from the security services to INEC in completing its constitutional role of organizing credible elections that can inspired continued public confidence.” |

Nigerian billionaire oil magnate, Femi Otedola has revealed why he recently boarded a bus from Sango Ota to Oshodi. Otedola, speaking at the public presentation and launch of ‘Pendulum 1’, ‘Pendulum 2’ and ‘Fighting Lions’ by Dele Momodu, said he boarded a bus in order to feel what the masses go through before he dies, contrary to popular opinions that it was because of his political ambition. Otedola lamented the condition of Nigeria, noting that from his experience, things needed to change. He said “Dele Momodu did mention that I entered a Molue’ because I wanted to go into politics, not at all. “I said to myself that someday am going to die and all these God-given wealth, of what use will it be to me, all these cars would not be buried with me. “Your obituary would read how many children you have not your possession, so I said let me feel the masses and know what it feels lik so I boarded a bus in London and when I read comments on social media they said I shud try it in Nigeria. “So I went to Sango with two of my assistants and boarded a bus, what struck me was that God needs to intervene in this country. “People in Nigeria have no reason to suffer.” he said. http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/946077126?-395:737:0

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has reacted to the confirmation by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) that the Ekiti PDP deputy governorship candidate, Deji Ogunsakin is a Christian. In a press release on Friday signed by its director and founder, the human rights organization stated that although Eleka’s running mate, Mr. Deji Hakeem Ogunsakin was born into a Muslim family, he converted to Christianity long ago and he is now a member of the RCCG. MURIC said: “We have the proof. We have a copy of a letter addressed to Governor Ayodele Fayose thanking him for picking a member of the Christian denomination. This letter was printed on the letter-head of the Victory Chapel parish situated on Maiye Ogundana Street, Magodo, Shangisha, Lagos. It was duly signed by the pastor of the parish, Bayo Olugbemi. “There is nothing wrong with being a Christian or a Muslim. There is also nothing wrong with voting for a Christian or Muslim candidate. But it is most shameful and outrageously dishonourable to deceive the public by hiding under the canopy of one religion to gain access to a public post knowing fully well that you are not what you claim to be. It is preposterous, disgusting and repulsive. Can we trust such people with the people’s mandate? Fayose has stolen the portion of Muslims in our common patrimony. It is an act of bad faith. It is dishonesty of the highest order. “Nigerians can now see where Fayose is coming from and what he stands for. Ekiti people entered one chance the day Fayose was elected. This man is Mr. Jekyll and Hyde. You can never trust him. He perfected the plan to deceive Muslims in his state long ago. We how he appeared at the Id ground wearing turban on Salah day, complete with a rosary! But it was a grand display preparatory to this grand deceit. It will be ed that we issued a statement at the time warning Ekiti Muslims that he was trying to deceive them. We are now vindicated. From now on, any Muslim who hobnobs with Fayose is on his own. “The wind has blown. We have seen the ruff of the hen. Fayose’s trick has been uncovered. His days are numbered. Everyday is for the thief but just one day is for the owner. Fayose can run but he cannot hide. If he runs to the sea, the sea will be boiling. If he runs to the hills, the hills will be melting in a volcanic eruption. This man is a special study in Chamberlain’s five evils: brute force, bad faith, injustice, oppression and persecution”. MURIC recalled its allegations against Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose who completely marginalized Muslims of his state by appointing no single Muslim as a commissioner or permanent secretary throughout his tenure. “This man has shortchanged Ekiti Muslims. The only ‘Muslim’ good enough for Fayose is the one who converted to Christianity a long time ago. Muslims in Ekiti should therefore ‘shine their eyes’. “We remind Fayose and his cohots of the words of Abraham Lincoln who said, ‘You can fool some of the people some of the time but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time’. We warned ekiti Muslims when Fayose picked his ‘Muslim’ deputy for Eleka. We knew he had something up his sleeve. But now the game is up. “Finally, we charge Ekiti Muslims to the hadith of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) ‘The signs of a hypocrite are three: he lies when he speaks; he reneges when he makes a pledge and he betrays when people trust him’. We must equally the words of Randal Terry ‘Fool me once, shame on you but fool me a second time, shame on me’. “Fayose fooled you with his turban on Salah day, he is trying to fool you a second time with Eleka’s deputy whom he presented to you as a Muslim and you rejoiced. Will you allow him to fool you this second time? We leave you with another hadith of the Prophet (PBUH), ‘Wisdom is the property of Muslims’. We affirm that the freedom to choose folly is cheap, the will to be on the side of wisdom is worth a king’s ransom”, the Group added. http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/946076139?-395:737:0 26 Likes 7 Shares |

Hello Nairalanders ! I have been contemplating and have this feelings that I may have trouble as times go on about the arrangement of my names on my academic certificates and other non academic certificates and qualifications. On all my academic certificates I have arrangement of my names as First Name, Middle Name And Surname or Surname First Name and Middle Name as it required but my other non academic certificates and qualifications has arrangement of my names as Middle Name, First Name and Surname or Surname Middle Name and First Name (Including my Bank Name, Voter Card, National ID cards) Now I want to apply for International port but am confused how arrangement of names should be, I have been thinking of using Middle Name as my First Name and my First Name as my middle name just as it is on my non academic certificates and other qualifications. Please could there be any problem ahead? And please does arrangement of names really matter since it include all names, Especially Using Middle Name as First Name?
