So much allegations on GTBank. Should I be worried? Is my deposits and investments in them safe?😭

I watched the press conference from this GICN. It looks like a personal attack against their GCEO, Segun Agbaje.

That yeye company called international breweries. How long will it take them to tell us the outcome of the RI. I thought the parent company already had the money in a vault. Or the RI is still going on in the spirit world

This headline can be deceptive.
The media tends to exaggeration stuffs. (and at times, understate them)

The not-so-informed folks may think that BlackRock's Nigeria exposure comprise of several asset names in the NGX, but that's clearly not the case.
The group's equity portfolio in Nigeria is basically Dangote Cement. ...that's about the only stock they hold.

The group has had to embark on some strategic restructuring of their AuM chief of which is the liquidation (part or full) of assets in several countries particularly in Africa. ...I recall they already took the same route in Morocco, Kenya and I think, Egypt so no surprises.

For Nigeria, saying that this news could impact the near term price of DC should already be taken for granted, unless of course Alhaji A.D or some other core investor decides to take up their stake.... in which case the stock may simply exchange hands without much price impact.
@ DCs CMP, BlackRock's exposure already prints an appreciable CGY.

Here's the thing though;
BlackRock's exposure/stake in DC is an equivalent of approx $5.3M. ...not so much of a significant stake if you ask me, so long-term holders of DC don't really have much to fret about.

Technically though, DC had gifted one an exit clue before now. (in Feb/March). ...this news could further fuel a negative short term pressure on the price of the stock.

What to do? Pls follow your instinct.

CAVEAT: NOT an investment advice. The need for due diligence should take higher preference ahead of the post.

Regards

On point. I wouldn't mind if their liquidation crashes the price of Dangote Cem, so I can buy in. grin

Am not advertising the company to you, I only pointed it out based on my analysis of the company, if you have interest, you can do your own research and decide accordingly.

This is my issue with Ellahlakes. The company hasn't provided enough information about the NOW for investors to make decisions. Nothing on the progress of their produce or when they'll start making revenues. All they know how to do is talk about the future every financial year & dilute investors while raising money.

The track record of the MD (at Union Dicon salt) isn't exactly great either. I'm bullish on the company, but they need to do more and provide information to investors about what's happening NOW.

On Accesscorp...
Anyone that understands the thing about NPR, TERP, the degree of % dilution of a RI and how an assets EM capacity can cover up for it would have logical answers to the following;

1) Why there was a huge accumulation in the last few weeks spearheaded by one of the key stakeholder of the bank (Mr. AiG) despite what was clearly a supply side imbalance in the coys trade book.
2) Why the coys feasible % dilution in view of her planned RI @ N19.75 will have only but a minor impact on her earnings quality and resultant future reward to shareholders in the short to mid term.
3) Why the RI subscription peg is at a to the coys CMP yet June 7 (same date as the circular) was announced as the QD.

A smart investor can immediately infer that management may already have the funds on standby given the implied negative NPR in view of the RI peg. Apparently, they do not necessarily need our money. wink cheesy cool
Again, a smart trader should also be able to see that the N2.5 disparity between the coys CMP and the proposed RI peg (ref: 19.75--17.25) could most likely be closed out in the short term.
...the coys TA stance is already given a clue. (short term directional bias in view... see chart below)

• Price action has been gaining momentum, rejecting a further BoS since retesting the N16+ level which doubles as a strong PSL.
• Fridays close was above it's short term TL and smooth HA.
• Double bottom since early April after repeatedly respecting the aforementioned smooth HA level.

A break and effective close above the neckline of that DBP (ref: N18.4) which should also imply a COCH will likely see the coy push up to the N21 region.
The RI data could be an added catalyst to make the asset a HPT.

Bottom line: Accesscorp might deliver a 20--31% return in the short term. (could be more)
Long term? Well, it's important to that the bank holds a fundamentally healthy slate and occupies the 3rd position on a list of 7 most under-priced quoted banking coys at present.

What to do? Pls kindly follow your instinct.

CAVEAT: NOT a investment advice. The need for due diligence should still take higher precedence ahead of this post.

RI: Rights issue
CMP: Current market price
QD: Qualification date
TERP: Theoretical ex-rights price
NPR: Net profit ratio ?
TA: Technical analysis
TL: TimeLine
BoS:
DBP:
COCH: ?
HPT:
EM: ??
HA: ??

Surely, most of us here wouldn't understand this?

Is it possible for a RI to be priced above the share price?

Better to buy to equivalent of my rights from the market now if this is true.

I have always recommended

SFS Capital for Fixed Income
Norrenberger for MMF and Dollar fund.
I could follow up on any process with them.

Click on the second link on my signature to open an with SFS or, fill out the attached form for Norrenberger

I've been trying to open an with these guys. signed up twice, received an email that they'll get back to me with my details and nothing from there.

It's very annoying how these guys behave.

Very soon, right issues will be flying here and there. If they price them well, it will be a good opportunity to increase shares, hopefully at a cheaper price. Based on my earlier analysis, I think some banks will maintain their dividends even after the share dilution. Here is the one from FCMB.

UBA following suit. 17% fixed deposit, with Rights issue coming Q3.

FCMB public offer in July

Zenith wa nko ?

I don't like their 63B OS. Don't know how they can sustain 4 naira dividend with such.

Even though they might cancel any unissued shares after the capital programme thereby reducing the OS, but DS/Nascon has taught me to invest with information I know for a fact & not hope for. grin

I might jump in at 26 & below.

For now, I'll concentrate on Access & UBA, and prepare some funds to take up my rights, rather than water it down on all banks.

Very smart move. Other banks should emulate this.

CBN better allow banks to pay massive dividends this period, or even approve a special dividend from banks grin

Would rebalance my portfolio to overweight in tier-1 banks (Access, UBA & GTCO?). The next 12-18 months would be interesting.

Nestle Nigeria Plc
The policy to revalue it's PPE up by ~N217bn would give a positive shareholder's fund of ~N139bn, even with a retained loss of N79bn, based on the 2023 AFS.

Nestle had healthy gross profit growth of 39% and operating profit growth of 42% in 2023. Would its Q1 2024 results continue in that trajectory? The challenge is with it's finance costs (fx revaluation loss). How it will handle it's financing after the EGM of May 22, 2024 would go a long way to reflect in its perceived value.

Would Nestle return to profit and be able to pay dividends again from 2024YE? It really needs it.

AccessCorp
Seems planning to do a rights issue of 1 for 2 at a price ~N20.50. When and details remain to be disclosed.

PS: All info contained in notices on NGX disclosure portal.

*I have shares in AccessCorp.

grin grin grin I guess you missed the sarcasm. I respect Locotrader..Why? He has a large heart to come and say: "Hey! Everybody, look at this stock and do your due DD."

Only this 1 kiss and tell wey we do for ChampionBrewery, everywhere just dey hot grin grin Why did Locotrader show his ChampBrew holdings? Because he was accused of luring people in so he can exit. Same reason i have been issuing disclaimer for this 1 ChampBrew wey i buy and reveal.....Before person go tell me say him sell him father house because of ChampBrew....

I no dey invest in Hope..........After analyzing all the brewery companies, i chose to put my money in ChampBrew for 3 reasons:

1. Low Free Float of 3% of Outstanding share
2. A possible buyout from Raysun, since they have made a move for such in the past.
3. The Brewery industry did not rally upwards in 2023, when compared to other sectors on the NGX.....So it is already down and needs fear no fall.
4. Possible turn around of the company given the dominance in its region if NO 2 fails to happen,......Any positive news or slightest sign of recovery will push the price of ChampBrew at a higher rate because of reason number 1 above, Low Free Float.

most of your points are filled with "possible, possible".

You're very much investing in hope. and, there's nothing wrong with that.

Consider the average 5 years trend, profitability of the business and earning quality.

Instead of dropping in a screener, I will do it manually for stocks on my watchlist.

Some of the stocks that appeared on the screener are dead.

Capital intensity of a business is also dependent on the industry. You can't compares the capital intensity of Julius Berger with that APR

delvzy:

I will advise you to do it based on sectors rather than just making comparisons haphazardly.

For the return on net tangible assets (RONTA), look for one with at least 20%.

Use the formula;
RONTA = Net Income / Net Tangible Assets

To find the Net Tangible Asset use;
Total Assets (-) Total Liabilities (-) Intangible Assets

Thanks!
