It's the responsibility of parents to set up their children and not the other way round, which one is "gift for training her in college" so as a parent you'll be expecting gifts from your children because you trained them in college. So people that didn't train their children in college don't deserve gifts. Please let this transactional relationship between parents and children end with this generation.

I respect your opinions concerning this issue, I'm just saying that regardless of any hold the whitemen have over us, they still can't operate without the help of willing hands from within this country, the white man is Very greedy In his dealings, he always tries to reap more than he has sown, but if we stand our ground as one and reject every deal that is anti growth and anti development, he'll be forced to make a fair deal so he won't loose out completely, currently Nigeria is too divided ambition wise to resist the tactics the whitemen are using against us. Yes, crude oil was first discovered in Olobiri in 1956, four years before our independence, but a particular region of this country decided to cut a deal with the white man for the sake of enriching their personal pockets and favoring the white men. When crude oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabia were very broke then, they were in a worse position than us, but they made a reasonable deal with the white men and the rest is history, the Saudi government might have enriched their personal pockets with the windfall they got from crude oil, but it didn't stop them from developing their country into what it is today. Regardless of the control the white men have over our affairs, our leaders still had to opportunity to develop this nation, but they choose their 'personal development' over the development of the country as a whole, I agree that the white man has a certain level of influence over affairs in this country, but it's only possible because of the people we have as leaders. Would you still say that it's the white man that would advise our politicians to embezzle public shamelessly, bros, imagine superior at work told you to spend your childrens school fees on partying and sleeping around with prostitutes, would you listen to him, I bet you wouldn't because you value your children's development over frivolities, even when you're threatened to go against their development you'll keep fighting for them till your last breath because you know they look up to you for growth and development. The thing is that our leaders don't care about the common man in this country and the white men are taking advantage of their greed and selfishness, I'm very sure the white men wouldn't be harvesting our best resources if they didn't care about their country's growth. What stops Nigeria from harvesting their best too, just as UAE and Saudi Arabia has been doing, as at 2020, our major oil buyers were India, Spain, Netherlands and Belgium, this means that we could still have gotten buyers for our crude oil even if Britain refused to buy from us, we could have completely broken off from their clutches if our leaders wanted, but due to the selfish ambitions of a particular region in this country, they decided to retain their evil convenant with the Whiteman because they knew it would favor them personally. The people holding back this country are from within this country, the Whiteman is just taking advantage of their selfishness to enrich their own country, if we want this country to move forward we need to first break off from the clutches of a particular region in this country (because it's through them the Whiteman has been able to retain control over us pre-independence and post-independence), without them as saboteurs, I believe we 'might' be able to get a better footing for ourselves.
Oyiboman69:
you're not far from the truth also....
Let me put in some few points...oil was not discovered after the white men leave as they made you to believed, in fact, oil in Nigeria was used in fuelling their ships and plane during the second world war and the evidence is still there somewhere in Enugu state if I may recalled. go check one of this video from one Tony Nnamdi from YouTube and watch. you said our leaders should have taken advantage of their absence since independent and you maybe right... we're still operating with the templates they leave for us such as our constitution and the rest, our structural system of government, religion and they still control us,the major investment in Nigeria today such as those oil companies are all owned by the white and if you try to do against all these, you'll be sanctioned. through globalization, and we opened our market for free trade, that is why our textiles industry dies just to mention a few....
Any leader who is trying to make any African country great is either killed or removed... I maybe wrong but I can the way johe pombe magufulli of Tanzania died in his young age and how he is moving that country and like I said,I maybe wrong though in my assertion.
I'm also not disregarding the incompetence and greediness of our leaders but I'm also conscious of the templates we're operating on and that has been a yardstick for our under development as a country.
as for the harvesting our best...the problem is not new cos when they came during the slave trade, they selected our best, strong, young who can work in their cotton plantations, and their underground railway during their industrial revolution and this is not new now cos it is the same way they're still using but in different forms....
It all depends on how you're viewing it...but don't discredit the view of others in this same issues...
Africa is design to fail for since we're still under the control of the white men...they're also aided by the of Afro pessimist which concluded the the black race is born to fail...as you said, our leaders are also a contributory factor but not the major problem,God bless you....

I love the way you elucidated your points, it shows that you're not just talking out of sentiments. I must agree that we have different opinions to the malady we're currently facing in Nigeria. In as much as I agree with the points you raised with regards to the white men always taking advantage of Africans, you still seem not to get the point here. Since our independence we've had abundant opportunities to be one of the richest countries in the world, even before the discovery of crude oil we were still destined for greater heights, but what happened, you'll still blame the White man for the depths we've descended into. We Had our destinies in our hands post 1960, but our leaders still choose to be tools at the hands of the brits, all because of the selfish interests of our leaders. Yes, they enslaved us, they colonised us, but what have we been able to do with the huge sums of cash falls gotten from crude oil, why couldn't our leaders look out for their citizens by rejection proposals that would counter the development of our nation, yet they accepted such offers because they thought of themselves alone.
The white man has been harvesting our best resources, but that wouldn't be possible if they didn't have greedy, selfish, bigoted allies down here to aid them in 'evil acts'. This country will only move forward once we get rid of self centred leaders we've been unfortunate to have since independence, the White man will always try to steal our best, but, we'll be able to resist them if we have leaders who are selfless and growth oriented.
I don't know if you're a Christian, but, becoming a Christian doesn't stop the devil from constantly attacking you, it's now your mindset as a true Christian that'll enable you resist those attacks.
If we can all adopt a mindset of growth, development and selflessness in this country, we'll begin to create a country that can rival the best in the world, our best resources wouldn't have to go elsewhere to get developed.
Oyiboman69:
not until recently, the Chinese and rest you mentions up there, are just beginning to rise up.
however, Africa which is endowed with natural resources than any other continent in the history of mankind will not be allowed to rest cos it is seen as a hunting ground for the white. you said that they only succeeded due to African greed but you forget to note that the likes of oba ovberhawen of benin and the like of Nana of ebrohimi just to mention a few, fouth them and they were exiled...was it the use of mirror and tobacco the the white used in fighting them as you claimed. What about jaja of of opobo during the trade and how the forcefully imprisoned him in overseas.
I am not a historian but I can still ed the few which I was taught in my secondary school days, and if for all you can think of is what they wrote about how our leaders betrayed their people, then you're not being sincere to yourself and humanity at large. when they ended the slave trade, then, they sat comfortably in their land and devided Africa as their conquered land and they introduced colonisation which many of our leaders both here in Africa and the ones who have attained education after the slave trade both in America and Europe fought them and many died in those struggles.
After our leaders fought to gain our independence which they surpose to leave Africa entirely but they don't, they still sponsored their spy through neocolonialism and all, coup de tat to any individual who is not in their ....
the French still has their own colony and organizations in Africa, the British has their own such as common wrath which the queen is the head 2,like Nigeria and Ghana etc,the Portuguese is not left out,the Germans, Belgium, what about the Americans which not until 1994 during the apartheid that south Africa is free and lager percentage of their lands is still in the white....
what about the Almighty China that has just recently taken Hong Kong from the British?...Africa has never been at rest from one trouble to another and the the white will always come to our rescue which is always in their best interest.
what do you think will happen if you put the best of individuals in an environment?...you can answer that.
Nigeria has always been an environment which is never comfortable for our best, thanks to the outside forces who had made sure Africa died of a perpetual servitude so that they can succeed in their land.
Why is it that the black man country is always backward?,is it that all the African leaders at time were greedy?...

Do you even know how the British rule in Nigeria began, you sure need to read up deep about the history of Nigeria pre-colonial era. I'm very sure you've heard about this popular saying "it's the rat in the house that opens the door for the rat in the bush to come in to steal food" (or whatever it comes in to steal), my point here is the white men didn't come here with an army to carry slaves, they came with a proposal, they sold this proposal to greedy chiefs and community heads who bought it because they wanted to enrich themselves at the detriment of their tribesmen. This same thing happened in the Niger-delta at the onset of drilling operations there, oil companies released money for the development of their host communities, but greedy, selfish chiefs and community heads siphoned the money for their personal use, can you see the similarity here, same mentality, different century, but same mentality. The white man is an opportunist, so he just took advantage of a situation that would favor his pocket and home country. This same white man took this Same proposal to Korea, Japan, China, and India and they were only allowed to operate within the limits of their trade as long as it didn't infringe on the fundamental rights of their citizens, even when the white men tried to be forceful, they were dealt with appropriately. You keep blaming the white man for the current misfortune
This country is facing, you pointed out that the white men still control our affairs covertly, but that this won't be possible if we don't have greedy sycophants as leaders. It's high time we stopped feeling sorry for ourselves and desist from blaming the whites for this rickety we call a country, let's look for a way to fix ourselves from the inside, this country will only change when Nigerians start looking out for each other more.
Oyiboman69:
and you think we don't have people who fouth them during that period?... what they did and still doing to Africans, they didn't do it to other countries. I'm not saying that most of the problems are not home grown but majority of it is outside problem which cannot be easily overcome. do you think our leaders both present and past leaders, didn't and are not making effort to salvage the situation?. They still dictate and control African either through direct or through their sponsorship, so that it will be nearly impossible for her to rise. who do you think are the sponsors of some of those terrorist organization?.
However, I'm not saying our leaders are left out of these negativities but the state in which Africa found herself after what it has gone through over the ages is as a result of the colonial master's intrusions. It is in total ruin....

Oga let's assume you want to travel to Abuja, you board a bus claiming to go to Abuja, along the journey, you discover the bus is actually heading to bayelsa, would you still continue to bayelsa regardless of your destination, or would you alight from the bus and look for a vehicle that'll convey you to your destination, which is Abuja?
You can't continue to force a country to develop when majority of the people here don't have a mindset of development, in as much as we want communal growth, personal growth is also paramount. And I feel that young man deserves a place that places emphasis on both personal and communual growth, unlike Nigeria.

Just like I stated earlier, we're the architects of our problems in Africa, starting from the slave trade to colonialism, for starters, do you know most of the slaves were sold by their own chiefs and village heads. The Europeans also travelled to Japan, Korea, China and even India, but they didn't have much success there because the Asians had a better communal spirit, they were not as greedy as the Africans, Africans who could sell their kinsmen for as little as a mirror and some gunpowder. With regards to natural resources, go and read the story of Saudi Aramco, check out the motive behind the formation of the company, and you'll find out why despite all our natural resources we're still retrogressing. Blame the situation in Africa on out greedy African leaders, and not some opportunist white man, foreigners wouldn't be able to poach our best resources if we valued what we have and if we had the interest of each others at heart.

So you think it's the responsibility of the government alone to educate the children, education goes way beyond what is being taught in the classroom, the best education a child can get is the one he gets from a wise parent, formal education will only teach how to become an efficient civil servant.

Oga just read and quietly if you don't know what to type, I attended a boarding school in the east and it was hell for junior students, government schools in the east are breeding grounds for cultists, the other day a cult war broke out in a very popular town in the east because some secondary school students were fighting over drinks at a party, since the fight involved different cult , senior felt they needed to escalate the fight, it took the intervention of the army before peace was restored to the area. Cultism is a national problem, tribalism won't help us solve it.

Same thing I was pointing out to someone, you don't give birth to kids and expect the government to raise them better than you'll do, the teachers these kids are entrusted to are just doing their jobs, you don't expect them to take over the full responsibility of the parents, most parents are just plain lazy and they feel they can camouflage their laziness through financial pursuits, these things have been happening for a very long time now and it might get worse if people don't stop giving birth to children they can't take care of, money is not an excuse not to raise your children so they won't be a menace to the society.
EmekaStanley:
I watched with annoying disgust the video of a young boy who was wriggling in pains on a hospital bed due to the brutality meted out to him at school by his follow school mates. Story has it that he was tortured by a group of boys who were cultists. because he refused to them.
The boy's dad said the cult boys came to his room and started beating him and stomping on him, after which they gave him a substance to drink. Eventually the boy died. This is too much to happen in a secondary school.
Bullying has been a hydra-headed beast from long ago. I also suffered while I was a boarder in a secondary school somewhere in Southern Part of Nigeria.
I had a couple of bad cases but the most painful of them all and that which has stuck in my memory was with the case of a senior student then, called Niyi Lasisi. That's his real name. I don't know if he is on this platform but if this goes viral whereby he sees it, I'd love it.
Niyi made me and a fellow roommate of mine engage ourselves in a marathon slap over a disagreement I had with the roommate. The worst of it all was that Niyi made sure that the slaps were heavy on the 'receiver' else the 'giver' will receive an extra slap as a penalty. It was brutal and arguably the most traumatic experience I had as a Junior student.
I almost quit school even though I was just a beginner but for some reason my Dad allowed me to choose if I wanted to quit or not and I chose to stay. If I see Niyi today, I'll look him straight in the eyes and tell him, "You know what Niyi, You really sucked, I don't know if you still suck now though".
My Dad visited and noticed my bad looking cheeks, he took me to my guardian who also doubled as my housemaster but that was the last I heard of anything about it.
There are many 'Niyis' in our boarding schools; Students who see nothing in deriding and brutalizing their fellow students. They go home and exhibit signs of this anti social behaviors and the parents see nothing of a big deal out of it, thereby releasing them to cause problems for others.
What manner of effrontery would warrant a set of secondary school students to damn repercussions and torture a fellow student up to the extent that the student has visible marks of torture and eventually dying as a result of it. You can imagine how deadly they'll become by the time they get to the University.
Their acts were dastardly and it speaks terribly about the culture in the school; the school might be breeding unwholesome kids for the society. It is good news that the Lagos State Government has shut down the school indefinitely.
Investigations should be carried out to determine the extent of this menace in that school and all those found culpable in the boy's death should be made to face the law squarely.
As a parent, what are you doing in order to introduce a wholesome human being in to the society? Please do not leave the moral upbringing of your child or ward in the hands of the school, you do not know what is going on in the school.
It is great to give your child the best in education but providing all their needs do not make up for their discipline and good upbringing.
Your child is your primary gift to the nation; they either contribute positively to it or they drag it in the mud and it is your responsibility as a parent to put this right.
Paying heavily for school fees is not where the job ends, you might just be paying to have a terror disturb the peace of other kids in same school...literally.
The nation is where it is today because of the family values inculcated in those who have ruled this nation from the onset till now. There is no point pointing one finger at the government for them to do things right whereas the other 4 fingers of yours are pointing back at you saying, "Okay...yeah you are right but what about your own kids, what are doing to make them better"?
You can't be complaining of a bad nation yet you are putting little or no effort in training 'nationable' kids. Your biggest national responsibility is to hand over a roundly trained citizen to the government....that's all. And who are the government? It's you, me and everyone else.
Now you as a parent, don't send your kids to school only to have some ill-mannered untrained kid bully them for you. How can you do this?
Encourage your kids to speak up and speak out no matter how threatened they may be. Ask them questions and demand answers. If you find anything suspicious, scream down the roof, shout, go to the school and make a hell of noise.
Become a lioness defending her cub.
Involve the social media, talk to the police, the lawyers or anyone that can hear you at that time. Don't go pursuing money while your child is being wrecked in school.
This nation has got to be better and it starts from the family circle. If more people put their families right, it will translate to a better nation.

How many of these people are employable, jobs don't make irresponsible responsible, they just hide behind jobs to continue their irresponsibility, haven't you heard of lecturers who were arrested for cult related issues, or you also haven't heard about the high rate of corruption amongst civil servants. The issue here is that parents have failed in their basic responsibility in raising their children, the religious society has also failed in instilling the right morals into their , schools have failed woefully too, government comes last in this chain because they have the least influence over the daily lives of these children. It's high time people stop giving birth to children till they develop themselves mentally, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually and lastly financially, because if you no sabi road how you wan take direct person. Let's all have a paradigm shift towards our mentality in this country, we're responsible for ourselves first before the government, a better society is achievable, but it has to start from a better family system.

Leading up to this crucial fixture, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is sweating over the fitness of star man Bukayo Saka, who picked up an injury against Newcastle United over the weekend. Apart from the England international, both Granit Xhaka and Sead Kolasinac remain unavailable for selection for the Gunners.
Providing an update on the situation in his pre-match presser, Arteta said: “Granit is still not ready, Kolasinac is still not ready, we have a doubt with Bukayo.” Speaking particularly of Saa’s condition, he added: “I am hopeful but we don’t know. Obviously it’s a really short turnaround and the player has to be comfortable playing with a little injury, so let’s see how he is in training.

Bros don't let anyone guilt trip you into doing what you're not ready for. The most important thing for you as a Christian is your relationship with your creator. ing a church group doesn't guarantee that you will be a better Christian, for example, sexual immorality is very pronounced within the choir dept of most churches, the financial dept is another place with very corrupt individuals, the politics played out in most of these departments would make you wonder if you are still in a church. Finally, it's up to you, if you feel ing a church department will make you a better person, then do, watch your growth, if you're not growing, then there's no point being there.

I don't know if it's the ever increasing hunger in the country that's causing this, but the rate of foolish nigerians to right thinking nigerians might be 80:20, so I won't be suprised if most nigerians sell their future for a bowl of soup by 2023. Until Nigerians hold FG responsible for the rubbish going on in the country, nothing will change. Infact, this is just the beginning .By next year that they will be campaigning for elections, the hardship go rise,so that they can easily use money to buy people's vote. Do you think buhari has been going globetrotting begging for money to feed the common Nigerian, it's obvious this people only care about themselves, it's only during elections we have the opportunity to show how important we are, but when elections start, some low life, low thinking, foolish, stomach infrastructure nigerians go still betray us las Las.

The way money is being embezzling in this country is mouthwatering, I wouldn't be surprised the day they said Nigeria is begging alms to feed from other part of the world

Instead of quoting several people with this same reply, why not tell us how many MDAs there are in Nigeria, and educate us on why the feeding budget allocated to them is justified. Thanks
blackpanda:
Smh. Do u know how many MDAs there are in Nigeria? Or you just comment with a preconceived idea

It's very obvious Nigeria is governed by demons disguising as leaders, it's only demonic agents that can churn out the amount of hardship these guys are heaping on us on a daily basis. A little bit of empathy and some bit of intelligence is what's needed to remedy the ills that has eaten Nigeria's up, but it's quite unfortunate that the people in power lack these qualities.

This is brutally realistic, I'm facing the same dilemma here, started this business a while ago with high hopes, but it's not as easy as it looks when you make your projections on paper, customers want something sizeable with quality without regards to how much it's gonna cost you,
it's a very brutal market as you said, I'm relying on God, strategic planning and smart work to make this work.
nextstep:
You need to figure out 2 things: revenue, and cogs (cost of goods sold) and then you'll have your answer:
You already have your unit revenue (you mention cost, but I guess you meant selling #50 each).
Now what is your unit cost? Calculate how much it will cost you for flour, oil, eggs, sugar, etc. to make your first batch of 150.
As in rather than imagine a cost of production, spend time in the market and find out how many bags you need for 150 units,
in your area. Get the actual retail costs, not bulk purchases.
How much will you pay your hawkers to sell? How about your coworker? Firewood or gas?
You have to now deduct the money for one-time purchases like the large fryers, mixer (or is it by hand?) glass box for hawking, and other miscellaneous. I'm assuming you're doing this from home so no rent.
What about days when you can't sell 150? Rain? Weekends? Police harassment to your hawkers?
Honestly, I'd be very surprised if you can clear #5 in profit per unit. Yes, 5 Naira profit per doughnut.
It's a lot of headache for the potential to make #750 per day.
Unless you have close to a million Naira in order to go big and get business s like schools, offices, catering, so you can start approaching 1000+ doughnuts/day, my recommendation is you drop the idea. I don't mean to be discouraging, but you need to be brutally realistic: this is not going to make anywhere close to the numbers you were thinking. I've ed several people to go into making food, selling provisions and drinks, but the profits are not even going to enable them payback the loans, so I'm talking from experience.

Yes he did it, and it was counted to him as a sin. And result of that (Ishmael) is what the Christians are going through today in the hands of our Moslem brethren all over the world....

But, Op, if I ask you for 30k loan for my business now, you go ignore me shey? na your money sha, spend am how you no go regret am. By the way, what did she invest in you prior to you investing this much in her. I'm no relationship expert, neither do i have any other Intel on your relationship, but from previous experiences I've encountered, it's quite risky to invest your emotions and finances into someone who doesn't look like they have any positive input into other than physical attributes. It's still your choice to make though, also I'll advice you to work on your self esteem, you're a king, never let any body give you less than you deserve.

I have been dating a girl for about 18 months now. Very pretty but my brothers, let me tell you... Look before you leap when it comes to pretty girls.
From the minute I met this girl it has been one money request after another. If it was small sums I guess I wouldn't really mind, as I have always worked for blue chip companies and can afford it. The thing is, her requests are always very big!.....20k this, 20K that.....but my brothers, I have to tell you the one that has made me even disappointed in myself.
She lives with her parents and they are the most dysfunctional family I have ever heard of... Everyday one person is fighting the other, and this my girlfriend, as fine as she is, is the most arrogant, prideful, violent & rude person I have ever met. She hounded me everyday that I must get her an apartment of her own, so she can escape her home, and I agreed to but by saving monthly.
Would you believe, one night, when she was working at a bar as an usher for guinness, she gave her number to 2 different men just because of this apartment. My spirit kept telling me that she gave her number out, but she kept lying...only for me to catch her texting one of the men when we were at church of all places.......
She even went as far as going to meet this rich man at a hotel, but the man ran away when she made that request, and I as a fool decided to finally do it for her. (I suspect she cheated on me that night and I always tell it to her face because she has cheated on me twice before)
I live on the Island and tried to get her to rent here as well, as I really want to keep an eye on her..... She has too many guys around her who live in that area and she is this kind of person who cheats out of revenge, even over small things.....this girl refused and threatened to break things off!....bro, as a mumu I sent the money to her to rent the place and for other things, about 400K.....
Ever since that money left my , it's like my eyes cleared!!! I couldn't believe that instead of saving my hard earned money, I went and sent it to a girl that has cheated on me twice (or even more), lied to me, slapped me and done so many things.....but I just decided to leave everything for God, seeing as she was desperate.
The problem now is that the demands for that apartment is now becoming too much!!! The expenses just to get the place finished are such a burden on my financial and mental state...
The worst happened about two days ago, she wanted me to pay 20k. Infact I just got so tired of bills that I kinda was stalling on it, but what happened next truly shocked me. Would you believe this girl started punching me, slapping me and even tore my shirt cos of 20k. She even threatened to break my office laptop (working from home) until I sent the money, after that she left........
Now she is trying to apologize so that I will pay for bed and gas and the remaining things....my brothers, I know u will say am a fool!...I accept...I am a handsome guy, studied abroad, I just don't know why loneliness made me fall in love with such a sadistic ... My only problem is, do I pay for the bed and just finish what I started or just free the whole thing and the nearly 500K I have already spent...
Please help!

Take a look at Matthew 10: 35-36, learn to use your head in every situation you find yourself, because, on the day of judgment, you'll be the one to for your decisions on earth," my parents told me to do so" won't be an acceptable excuse.
