Sowore Says Tinubu Is Worse Than Buhari, Warns Nigeria Is Falling Apart

Activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has come down hard on President Bola Tinubu’s government, saying things are getting worse by the day. In a chat with Vanguard, Sowore said Nigeria is collapsing faster under Tinubu than it ever did under Muhammadu Buhari.

“Buhari destroyed Nigeria in eight years. Tinubu is burying it in just two,” Sowore said.

Sowore, who ran for president in 2023 under the African Action Congress (AAC), said the economy is in shambles, democratic institutions are weak, and life is getting harder for ordinary people. He blamed policies like fuel subsidy removal and the floating naira for pushing Nigerians into deeper poverty.

“There’s nothing good coming from all this. Fuel subsidy gone, naira floating—it’s just suffering everywhere. If this is what they call the road to progress, then we’re heading for disaster,” he said.

Democracy losing meaning

Sowore didn’t stop there. He said many Nigerians are starting to give up on democracy altogether.

“People don’t even believe in democracy anymore. Free speech, fair elections, freedom of choice—all that is gone. What we have now is a fake democracy,” he said.

Says no to forced voting

He also rejected the idea from the House of Reps to make voting compulsory. To him, it’s just a way to make a broken system look like it’s working.

“If you have to force people to vote, that’s not democracy—it’s desperation,” he said. For more visit - www.wiz9jablog.com.ng/sowore-says-tinubu-is-worse-than-buhari-warns-nigeria-is-falling-apart/

Trump Claims 150 Countries Want Trade Deals, But Offers Few Details

President Trump said there are about “150 countries that want to make a deal,” though he didn’t mention which ones or how many would actually receive letters. He also said those countries could challenge the decision, but didn’t explain what that process would look like.

Neither the White House nor the Commerce Department gave any response when asked for comments overnight in the US.

Back on April 2, Trump announced steeper tariffs on several of America’s trading partners. But after investors started to panic, he decided to put those tariffs on hold for 90 days so other countries could come to the table and talk. Still, in recent weeks, he’s shifted away from the idea of negotiating with every country one by one.

Even though the Trump istration is focusing on trade talks with over a dozen countries, there's just not enough people or resources to run all the negotiations at once—especially with the way this “reciprocal tariffs” plan is laid out. While US Customs and Border Protection technically collects the tariffs at the border, the extra cost usually ends up hitting American consumers.

Earlier this month, Trump said he would just set tariff rates himself for a lot of countries trying to avoid the higher fees. Read more - www.wiz9jablog.com.ng/trump-claims-150-countries-want-trade-deals-but-offers-few-details/

Professors Are Using ChatGPT, and Students Are Calling Them Out

Not too long ago, schools were freaking out about students using ChatGPT to cheat. Now? It’s the professors who are using it—and students aren’t happy.

Ella Stapleton, a senior at Northeastern University, was reviewing her class notes when she noticed something strange: a prompt to ChatGPT right in the middle of the material. Her professor had used AI to write parts of a lecture. The irony? The syllabus clearly said students couldn’t use AI or chatbots.

Ella was shocked. She started looking through other course materials and found even more signs of AI—bad grammar, weird-looking images, and just messy slides. She ended up filing a complaint and even asked for a refund of over $8,000 for that class.

She’s not the only one. More and more students are calling out professors online, saying their assignments, , and even grades seem like they were written by a bot. And considering the high cost of tuition, they feel like they’re being shortchanged. They didn’t pay thousands just to have an algorithm do the teaching.

On the flip side, some professors say they use AI tools to save time and deal with heavy workloads. They see it as a way to make things more efficient. In fact, the number of college instructors using AI tools like ChatGPT has nearly doubled For more visit www.wiz9jablog.com.ng/professors-are-using-chatgpt-and-students-are-calling-them-out/

Benin Republic Shuts Border with Nigeria, Disrupts Trade in Kwara State

The border route between Nigeria and the Benin Republic has been shut down by the President of Benin, Patrice Talon.

The closure has sparked concerns among neighboring communities, particularly affecting Taberu, a village in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria, which connects to Tanu in Benin. The shutdown has led to an issue involving agricultural exports and other essential resources.

According to local sources, the closure aims to curb the smuggling of agricultural products—mainly cashew nuts and soya beans—through unofficial routes into Nigeria.

Local authorities and residents report that the decision has significantly disrupted trade activities between the two border communities.

Due to the continued smuggling of these products, President Talon has now imposed tariffs on cashew nuts and soya beans when transported through authorized channels.

In an interview with Saturday PUNCH, the Emir of Yashikira, Alhaji Usman Umoru-Seriki, confirmed the development.

He explained that Beninese authorities now insist that all cashew nuts and soya beans must be transported only via official routes, with significantly higher duties imposed on traders.

“He only allowed the transportation of cashew nuts and soya beans through legal routes and imposed a higher tariff on these products,” the Emir said. “Traders who wish to bring soya beans and cashew nuts are now required to pay higher duties, and only legal routes are permitted. This isn’t the first time President Talon has taken such action—he closed the border with Togo last year.”

Dem Dey Troll Me Because I No Get Husband - Funke Akindele Gets Real (Video)

Renowned Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shared a deeply personal moment that led her to seek therapy for the first time.

During a heartfelt conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the Battle on Buka Street star revealed how she was emotionally shattered by public ridicule over her marital status during her political campaign.

In 2023, Akindele contested for the role of Deputy Governor of Lagos State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). While her candidacy drew widespread attention, it also opened her up to painful criticism.

“One particular video featured women mocking me for not having a husband while aspiring to hold political office,” she recalled. “That video broke me. I cried so much and finally itted I needed professional help. Talking to a therapist made me feel better.”

Although Akindele had always recognized the importance of mental health , she avoided therapy out of concern for public gossip and judgment.

“I knew therapy mattered, but I was afraid they would spread stories about me. So I kept pretending to be strong even as I faced constant attacks,” she said.

The actress, known for consistently delivering box office hits, urged anyone dealing with emotional challenges not to remain silent.

“Please, speak up. Don’t keep it all inside,” she advised.
