Hello, I would be going to Vancouver next month tho, how do I go about booking my flight tickets.
I booked my flight directly on the Lufthansa website after checking for the cheapest flights using Google flights. I also advice you book directly to Vancouver and not to Toronto

Good day everyone.
Please does anyone have an idea what a third class grade degree will be evaluated(WES) as? And will it have any effect on the application. Thanks in anticipation.
It doesn’t matter what you graduated with. BSC is BSC. It won’t affect your application

If you paid for biometrics fee for your child, there’s no need for transmission fee. It is included in the biometrics fee. My previous explanation was for biometric fee.
efeu:
Just realized I didn't pay the transmission fee for my child. How did you go about it after paying? did you call VFS?
|
Redkay: 5:54pm On Jun 21, 2022 |
I sent an email and they replied with an number. The number can be gotten from their website though.
When you pay, print out the transfer receipt, and courier it with your application number to them. after doing that, send an email to [email protected] indicating that you sent additional documents and put the tracking number of the new document you sent and your Application number.

Please can you walk me through how you are getting your driving extract? I called one guy at the FRSC office and he is telling me that I have to travel and get a house there first before I can get it.
Is this true?
Teeores:
Well noted.
The "oga" at FRSC wants to charge me 30k for my driving record. Is this the typical fee? Cause I'm shocked!!!

Many thanks for this. My child didn’t do biometrics.
Please what are the other things that could delay my port apart from non-payment of the transmission fees?
Nothing else. Except VFS Lagos, IRCC Ghana or DHL decides to move mad

Good evening house...please I have a few questions on port stamping.
1. I plan to send my port through VFS Lagos. Do I have to pay the transmission fee if I did my biometrics in the Lagos office? I still have the white slips we were given during biometrics.
2. I am sending ports for a family of 3. Can I use a single envelope for all our ports/documents?
Did your child do biometrics with you? If not, you’ll have to pay for your child. This is one of the things that delayed my port
Yes you can use a single envelope

Ok, so, I think I should gist you all...
Key points mainly, so it is not too lengthy!
I paid for my WES evaluation Feb 2020.
Evaluation wasn't ready until Oct 2020 due to back and forth for my Poly, I did two degrees.
I wrote IELTS in Nov and result was out in Dec 2020.
I created an express entry profile and received ITA within 3 days for FSW.
I submitted my application and received AOR Feb 5th, 2021.
There was a deafening silence that I had to come to this Nairaland community for solace.
Mind you, I've been running all my package solo through personal study and research.
I realised some things might have been easier if I were here earlier, but we move.
The encouragement from here and people having similar long wait kept my sanity together.
Requested for GCMS notes in Feb 2022 and received an ADR by Feb 24.
I quickly got the PCC, schedule A and medical done within a week.
After waiting for almost two months after documents have been received, I requested for another GCMS notes, so, it won't look like I didnt do anything.
PPR came in the next day! April 26
Apparently, both GCMS notes were needless!
I'm sure you know the joy that comes with PPR, right?
Dropped off my port the next day with DHL.
Used VFS lagos because I felt I wasn't in a haste to travel.
I felt I needed the time to look for job and make all my plannings.
I changed my location on LinkedIn to Toronto and applied for a job I saw on glassdoor.
In two weeks, I was poached by 4 recruiters.
Thanks to the Canadian number I got using dingtone which I learnt about on this platform.
Phone call was always their first point of .
One of the recruiters terminated the process because I told him I was currently in Nigeria and he needed someone urgently.
I had series of interviews with the other 3 companies.
I received a rejection mail from the company I applied directly to from glassdoor.
Two weeks ago, I got an offer from one of the company, 113k per annum.
I withdrew my application for one of the company which was not in Ontario.
Last week, I received a 2nd offer which I had to decline. 96k per annum.
My flight is booked, my port came back yesterday, 15th June.
Funny enough, I didn't receive any more message from any recruiter apart from those 4.
Why this long story?
Delay isn’t denial!
God's timing is usually the best!
Do not lose hope!
Yes, you can get that dream job of yours!
You don't have to do a menial job first.
You can get a good job from here.
Please, keep hope alive....
One love ❤
Peace
Congratulations!!!!! Your story is so inspiring. Please do you work in tech? You got a job really fast.
I sent my port a day before yours to VFS Lagos and I haven’t received it yet. Can you share your COPR timelines?

I didn't get any notification that it has been received at IRCC for processing. I only got a notification that it was in transit to IRCC. Then got a mail this morning that it has been received at Canada visa application centre.
Checked my and saw that counterfoil has been generated.
I guess they are not updating us at every step.

Immortalregis: SHEEP IN THE BIG CITY: A SHORT LANDING GIST
Please read this report through the lens of a first-time International traveller and ignore any of my JJC observations
I filled ArriveCAN (more on this later) and printed out the receipt on Tuesday 07/06, in preparation for my Wednesday 08/06 flight. I booked Egyptair exactly 8 weeks in advance and it cost 257k which was around 112k less than the price offered by the next cheapest airline (for those on a budget like Yours Truly ) .
I barely slept that Tuesday night, such was my excitement + trepidation over this journey into a new land with no real structure. Muritala!
At check-in, I was asked for ArriveCAN receipt, COVID vaccine card, port and COPR. Check-in lady spent close to 5 mins advising and encouraging me before giving me my 2 tickets, (God will continue to bless you ma cos in spite of my "hard guy"-"hard guy" things, I was very, very scared and I needed to hear those kind words from a stranger).
Immigration was a breeze and I submitted the yellow card at that point. Ditto customs. There was some bambiala stuff but I had no cash on me so ojoro cancel ojoro
At the boarding gate, I was asked for the same things except COPR. I had some naira that I had forgotten about in my back pocket so I had to use that one to encourage the officer that did physical search. We started boarded at 2pm and the plane too off for Cairo at exactly 2:40pm.
ABOUT MONEY - I had less than 10kUSD and about 200 CAD in cash. I kept both bundles in my backpack and nobody asked me anything about it. In the declaration card, I just ticked that I had less than $10000 and that was that. Cairo
5-hour flight to Cairo was smooth. They gave us water, jollof rice and chicken,tea/coffee, guava juice, cake, bread and salad. They had some new movies sha. I sat with a great naija conversationalist and time flew by with pure gist. We got to Cairo at night, and all I could see was lights. As we got closer to the landing I could see well-planned structures, street-lights etc etc. I couldn't appreciate the beauty because it made me realise just how unfortunate the political class of Nigeria is. A few of us were stopped and our visas were inspected by Egyptian customs before we were allowed to go to our boarding gates. Layover was for 5 hours. Please travel with like $50, ( They accept USD and CAD) , preferably in small bills in case you need to buy something. I had to buy WiFi cos my phone couldn't access the airport's free WiFi. At check-in, we were asked for boarding , arriveCAN, vaccine card, copr and port. We boarded at 1:30 Egyptian time and flew immediately.
P. S. EGYPT AIRPORT PEOPLE NO DEY TOO HEAR ENGLISH AND DEM DEY QUICK VEX SO HAVE YOUR DOCUMENTS READY!
P. S. 2 - If you use the toilet in Cairo airport, you'll see 2 taps attached to a WC. One knob above and one below at about knee height level. You see that one below, DO NOT TURN IT! It sprays a powerful jet of water vertically and soaked my jeans in 2 secs! Opelope change of clothes ninu handluggage. Toronto
We arrived by 8am or so after 11hours on the air. Flight was smooth. I followed the signs and they led to one machine like that. Follow the prompts on this machine. When I filled ArriveCAN, I used the web version because it gives you the option to fill your CBSA declaration form beforehand. If you, like your brother in the lord, use this option, you'll be done with the machine in like a minute and it'll print out a receipt. Otherwise, you'll do the CBSA declaration at the machine. I followed the line and landed at CBSA desk. I was asked for the copr, ArriveCAN receipt and port. COPR was stamped and I signed. Sha, sha the entire process was seamless.
I got a sim card at the airport cos I didn't want to be without Internet access for any extended period of time as I have no one in this Toronto. Took a taxi to Airbnb, dropped my luggage, then went to open and make deposit. Bank rate was 1.246 CAD to 1USD. Went to Service Canada at 4900 Yonge Street for SIN. Final thoughts
There are port-holes on the road and the weather is harsh (it's 12 degrees in summer as I type this). Transportation by taxi is expensive as hell. This context is important for my next statement to make more sense: Even if my life depends on it, I will not live full-time in Nigeria again.
In theory, I know what a working system means but to experience it in flesh.. There are no words to describe it. I went to a road as busy and big as Abeokuta Expressway in Lagos or Aba road at certain points in Port-Harcourt. No policeman in sight, yet all the cars on both sides of the stopped for this immigrant to cross road because traffic light said so. Naija street-life was pushing me to run in case that big truck fails brake but I refused to embarrass my ancestors and I cat-walked like a local Toronto boy. Walahi, if you see my confidence yesterday you no go believe say I be the freshest JJC for Canada. Once I get my PR card, na to police or politics cos I need to do my part in ensuring this system continues to work. As for naija, when better men than myself sanitise the system, I can consider coming back to settle. For now o, as my aunt would say, "Blind man wey get agbalumo, e dey hold am strong cos if the agbalumo fall..."
I'm not a devout Christian but every night and day I will say a prayer for this dream to become a reality for every single person on this journey. Make ona come use ona eyes see wetin working system mean even if there are portholes, the weather is harsh or transport by taxi is very expensive!
This was a very nice and encouraging story to read
