Austine1213: When you cook the books, you end up with these inbalances. Like many african countries do on the continent, the stats are always cooked. Some times the stats are not there to look good on the international eyes, but are there to focus and channel development in the areas where development is mostly needed. But in Africa, stats are there to paint the country better whereas things are falling apart and people are dying of hunger. 1 Like |

obaaderemi: When they say SA economy is sofisticated. Maybe you dont understand what they mean. SA economy is very different from nigeria economy. SA economy is not dominated by individuals like you have the dangote and the likes. South african economy is run by pension money. I told you SA has $500bn pension fund assets, compare to nigeria's only $26bn pension money. That money is not owned by individual. Its owned by the people, the workers. I for one, my pension money has been invested in many big malls in SA and those funds are managed by Alexander forbes pension fund. PIC manages 1.3m government employees pension fund, i realised you had no clue what you were talking about. The shares they owned are not considered BEE shares. They owned controlling shares at Telkom, MTN, Shoprite, Exxaro, Edcon, Standard Bank, Capitec. Their shares on Naspers are worth $16bn. there are many pension fund management companies, its not only PIC, Alexander forbes, Eskom pension fund, Transnet, there is many. SA has more than 2000 malls, and majority of those malls are owned by workers through their pension funds. This is the reason you will never find a dangote in SA. All those billionares from SA, all of them dont own more than 50% in companies they are involved in, many of them have small shares in different companies. , when we say PIC manages 1.3m government workers pension money, we are not including the parastetal company workers. SA government owns 700 different companies, e.g Eskom, Transnet, Denel, Armscor, NECSA, SANRAL, PRASA, CSIR, SABC, SAA, all these companies manage their own pension fund or have private companies who manage it for them. So you see SA economy is like an Engine. Dangote owns everything in Nigeria and you are proud of that, if nigerians owned 70% of dangote's wealth, nigeria would be far, that would mean more middle class for nigerians. 6 Likes |

obaaderemi: Check the Bolded, and tell me what do you interpret that? Just wanna see if you are an honest person or you are here to drive an Agenda, as i have seen it before on this platform. That statement says, you concede defeat against white south africans, but you wanna paint a picture of Nigeria being better than black south africa. And you try to exclude white south africans as not south africans. White south africans have been in SA yrs before America was formed, almost 400yrs. If you can call white australian, australian, who has only been in austrilia for 120yrs and you try to exclude white south africans who have been in SA for 400yrs as None south africans, then you need serious help. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Austine1213: And it has $200bn worth of assets. Owns majority shares of mtn. Owns 16% of Naspers. Owns 9% of sasol. Owns shares at Shoprite as well. The list is endless. South africa pension fund is worth $500bn, $200bn of that belongs to PIC. 2 Likes |

kgr28: They have multiple currency exchanges, so the one they use to convert their GDP to dollar, is lower compare to the others like black market exchange etc. In reality, nigerian economy is not bigger than SA. Hence their revanue collection is 4 times less than South africa. It shows the economy is not what it is on paper. 2 Likes |

rvp20182: Thats the results of pegging a currency. Let markets determine your currency rather than manipulating it. Why do you think $1=¥103 and japan still one of the richest country. If you try to manipulate your currency you will end up with multiple exchange rates in the black market, and that is due to struggling fo your pegged currency. Nigeria looses $5bn a year just to the pegged currency, that money could be used to develop infrastructure. Look at Zim, same story. You will run out of money while trying to peg the currency. 1 Like |

Femiolunloyo: Nigerians must know that Nigerians are not the only africans going to South africa. there is over 5m zimbabweans, 1.5m somalians, 1m Ethiopians, 1.5m mozambiquans, 1m congolese, 800 000 basothos. 800 000 to 1m Nigerians. South africa is generally overwelhm with this influx. There is approximately 10m to 12m mostly illegal foreigners in SA. As it it, it becomes a scramble for resources with the locals. Thats where the problem starts. Some restuarants hire 100% foreigner workers, this does not sit well with the locals. Even nigeria could never allow that to happen, byt its happening in SA. https://www.businesslive.co.za/bd/national/2020-03-24-over-60-ethiopian-migrants-found-dead-in-container-bound-for-sa/ Many poor migrants travel via Mozambique on their way into SA, the continent’s most industrialised economy, where they usually hope to find better work. 1 Like 1 Share |

Dasuks: You were almost correct until you said its the mostly european population that hold this wealth. Many people dont understand how sophisticated South african economic is. The reason you dont find the dangote in south africa is because south african economy is owned by pension money. Even the naspers you are refering too, majority shares are owned by PIC, which is a government workers pension money. Check who works at the government, 95% of government workers are blacks. Even MTN that most nigerians think its owned by whites, PIC is majority shareholders. https://mybroadband.co.za/news/business/310439-pic-encourages-state-pension-fund-to-sell-naspers-shares.html https://m.fin24.com/Companies/ICT/pic-forced-board-shakeup-at-mtn-in-push-for-fewer-disputes-20190604 Guys, please do research on this things before making fools of yourself. 1 Like |

Then you must fight your government, mobalise and take to the streets untill your government listen. Look what people in hong kong are doing. Dont loose hope, fight till the end, these corrupt leaders will wake up. Lives will be lost but for a good course. The problem with africnas, when the going gets tougher, you will see the scrumbling for 3 months VISA for a certain country, just to run away from the problems rather than fight. Hence you end up with these dictators running amok all over the continent. 2 Likes |

jrusky: South africans are fighters and not scared to die for a good course. Hence you never saw millions of south africans in neighbouring countries running away from apartheid. Not like many africans who choose to run away from poverty instead of fighting their government for better service. Africa is full of cowards. Look at zimbabwe, mugabe ran amok in that country for 38yrs, clever zimbabweans opted to run to south africa than to fight mugabe. That can never happen in south africa. When people are fed-up, blood will flow on the streets. 4 Likes 2 Shares |
