To be sincere with you, I would advice you refire that GRE to get a competitive quant score of at least 160Q , as Engineering is very competitive most especially Elect/elect.

However you can search for schools waiving the GRE and shoot your shot competitively.

Any hope for funding with such score?

I seem not to understand why people still try to opt in for the U.S even after travelling to other countries. Is it that other countries like , China, Europe etc are not suitable to build a career as an international student?. Just a thought anyway.

As regards your interview, I think you need to demonstrate strong home ties. However, let the bosses come and give their experiential contribution.

Okay, without mincing words, I would strongly advise you retake the GRE to stand a better chance of been funded. Mechanical engineering is very competitive and your GRE is low, most especially your quant score. So consider reshooting your GRE to at least Q160 and you would be fine.

The low ranking I stated there implies their position when ranked with other schools. They do not fall around top 100.
Then the low funding i assume is probably the tendency to be funded is unlikely. Those are my concern anyway.

Hello, please I would need clarification on this;

1. A student had a low GRE (like mid range 310-320) and he has gotten approval from a professor for research. Nevertheless, he did not meet the department requirement for GRE. The department demands 162Q. But the student had 159Q. Please, how can this student be successfully itted despite this constraint.

2. How do you know a professor has funding or a research he is undertaking that needs student to carry them out?. I discovered most department don't state it clearly on the profile page that a certain professor is open for student or something.


3. Please what is the disadvantage of applying to low rank school in the U.S in of ission. Moreover, I discovered a low rank school had all of the equipment I needed for research and I am concerned it is a low ranking school . Hence, Is it that, the tendency to be funded is low or there are other things attached to them.

I was one of the best at maths in both secondary schools I attended. I studied ing and the best scores on my university transcript are maths and maybe stats courses. I took my GRE yesterday and failed woefully. Quants- 147, Verbal- 146 without essay.
I studied for 2 months.

Yeah, I can relate with this, I feel the GRE has some tricks and traps you need to be conversant with in order to get a good score especially in quant. So residual knowledge would not really play well here even though it's important.
