I think you need to work on this principle. You did something similar to me when I asked to help me check the quotation I got for protectors.

Considering the fact that we are all here to help each other, I think if you see someone being ripped off, you should be able to say something.

Personally, I believe that workmen shouldn't get a penny from the materials that they quote. Include what ever gain you want to make in your workmanship.

It's for this same reason 2 roofers lost their contract with me. In addition to their workmanship, they inflated the measurement for the roof to include an extra 100k. They didn't expect me to go straight to the company and ask for an installer.

So, my brother. I think you should be able to review. There should be a charge for workmanship there. This guy should not be ripped off on materials as well. Thanks.

Niger pipes are very costly, a bundle costs N19,000 in December when I asked last. Other brands are selling for about N10,000 to N12,000. I bought 50 bundles last month because I fear a price hike soon. The one I bought is Vee Tec.

But, niger pipes are longer than most pipes, more flexible and doesn't depress under iron mat pressure. (Only when you are using it in a decking slab) if you are not using the pipes on a decking slab, go for cheaper options like dignity and others.

Good day everyone. I want to clear something up. Every businessman have his or her own principle and of working. If you ask for my opinion on the cost of doing a job and the materials you think will be enough, I can help you with that but asking me to review a quotation of another welder is something I will NEVER do. I don't know what he intends to do and how he intends to achieve it.

Some quotation maybe over bloated not because the welder or artisan intends to rip off the client but because costing the materials it will take to complete a job is something many can't do. That's why quantity surveyors help engineers. Y'all will agree with me that most artisans are barely literate to communicate in english and we're talking about mathematics here. Sometimes it's innocent mistake and other times greed. Either way, it's not my duty to point out which for anyone.

You have to factor also that the cost of materials and living differ from place to place. A single door I can make with #20,000 costs above #35,000 in Lagos.

Having said the above, I regret any inconveniency it causes this forum and its established guidelines. Enjoy the new year

why I can't review quotation is because location and price differs from place to place. There are discrepancies on the prices of materials I saw there but I am not buying these and don't understand the local market to be able to determine whether they're high or low.

Another thing is that when I give someone a quotation, I will tell you the total cost my labor inclusive. Asking for the individual number of materials is where you get ripped off.

You will agree with me that the price of materials at your location was far expensive from what is obtainable in my location that you even suggested that I source some of the materials for you from my end.

He has clarified his reasons. Look at it from this angle. A few weeks ago, I posted the quotation I was given for plastering and the person requested for 110 bags of cement for a 3 bedroom in addition to nearly 300k as workmanship. Spyder880 said it was far too much. Someone else came to quote and we arrived at 60 bags.

Now, imagine I didn't bring it here or didn't get external opinion or someone said he can't review the quote because he won't be the one to handle the job.
