Direct Meaning Of These Yoruba Names (9413 Views)

In the above, we've seen the practicability of the Yoruba saying or wisecrack that owe leshin oro. But someone from the core Yoruba group had equally opined that the same proverb is given as "owe l'eshi oro, oro l'eshi owe". Eshi here means ide, meaning bait used in trapping fish. We are however familiar with the eshin, Yoruba for the horse. Meanwhile, it's "lo" that has been used to overwrite "ka" in the example above. It should be, "eni koko e ye lo moo ka" I'm a student, I'm not capable of correcting Yoruba perfect masters. Just saying I have keen understanding of their mindset. Another wisecrack worth of reckoning, with the ancestors saying something else than they meant to say is in the offing. After I asked my audience of the koko proverb, I charged further: "what's the direct meaning of, alagemo ti bimo e tan, aimoojo ku s'owo 'e?" The man who earlier said akoro, offer an interpretation, that alagemo is an egungun. Fine it's true, but it's not the egungun that the proverb is targeted at. So he missed it. Another elderly man ing by love the riddle. He got it, it's the chameleon, but he couldn't place the interpretation. He swerved to the prediction of Chief Obafemi Awolowo that what he said years ago that we shall fight for ourselves is coming to with the endsars. People can digress for Africa. Now what is the meaning of the proverb? Here's it: The chameleon already have it's child, inability to dance is left in (the child's) hand. The dance being referred to here is the paparazzi things that chameleon does when it intends to move his hand and clinch a branch of a stick. How do I know? There's always the cheat alternative. Another remote source hints "genge lalagemoo gbowo jo". Genge means care meets care. The chameleon is an utterly careful animal, he checked carefully before ever taking steps or reaching out to any stick. Albeit, another proverb spoiled the chameleon's sensibility. "Alagemo to nyo kelekele, iku pa a. Ambalantase opolo ton janrae mole". The chameleon that moves carefully, death took him, how much more the frog that smashes himself on the ground! The dance is not a dance, it's just the Yoruba way of speaking of the way chameleon moves characteristically wherever it can be found. The missing idea is "ai moorin ku s'ese omo alagemo". However, the perfect masters knew they were communicating with intellectuals. They are obliged to speak in wisdom and miss up idea for beauty and poetic license. We are equally empowered to figure out the meaning of their wisecracks. Here's some words worth a review 1. Kelekele: ke ile, ke ile: tiptoe, take care of the ground as much as touching it sparingly. 2. Ambalantase:: a ba lai ni tase, "hitting without missing the point." 3 Likes 1 Share |

@ alba3, you actually gave a great shot at the meaning of Alaba and I am 100% convinced with research that all Yoruba names are derived from Semitic root and Arabic words. Even the English names are derived through English interpreters of Hebrew'sTorah. While, you are tryng to intrepete ìdẹ̀ as bronze is a inaccurate even if it you did a great justice to your view. Here are the classic meaning of ìdẹ̀,Ọ́jẹ̀ and ṣẹkè ṣẹ̀kẹ̀ as following : ìdẹ̀=brass Ọ́jẹ̀=bronze ṣẹ̀kè ṣẹ̀kẹ̀ or ṣẹ̀kẹ̀ = chain, iron Cheers 3 Likes |

Olu317: I've been a bit worried lately not seeing your inputs. I'm happy you are back. I'm not afraid as to metaphysical, he's secure. I know you do business online, please be discreet as to your identity. You have predators amongst our adversaries, I've been lured but I didn't take the bait. It's a clean one but God saved me. The insidious enemy always hire prime suspects to do his bid, but the rope ends in his hands. I don't want to be a victim so I know where to stop. May God continue to save us, it's a good fight. absoluteSuccess:Yes I do business online though with discreet but not so bothered by my identity, even if there are evil people who seek to take undue advantages through different means. Indeed, I appreciate your concern and I'm always careful with whom I deal with or discuss sensitive issue with. So, thank you so much. And take good care of yourself too It is of fact that I have reduced my input on the area of my specialisation due to my susupicion of some elements who actually are lookng for an opportunity to steal one's intelletual property which law will not me if I sue such person(s) to the court of law because , a lawyer advised me on it after some enquiry on it that I shall loose such case due to it as unfinished work. So, my intention is,to concentrate more on the work and relax when needed because the work is massively hard and challeging even if the discovery is 100!% truthful about semitic origin of the core yoruba's ancestors and descendnts. There are some Yoruba names that have 'ra' in them, which I read signify the ancient Egyptian name for God, Ra. Names like AdefaRAsin, Irawo, KudiRAtu, OluwandaRA, RAfiatu, WuRA, etc. The Yorubas definitely have ancestral connections to ancient Egypt, as explored by the great historian, Olumide Lucas. Perhaps our Yoruba brothers can expand on this. ![]() |

Olu317: My conscience was disturbed not warning you of my encounter with online predators' scheme to possibly harm me, knowing fully well that whoever is seeking my life from here is seeking yours too. It's not even the research paper now, but your life or you being around to sue someone. Igba taa ba rigba la maa to rami. Please, know your customers and understand the frequently asked questions in your business line. Never allow anyone or anything that will help all your long held aspirations land on your lap from "mystery source" online that wanted to help you without your consent (or your knowledge of who they were), and what is in it for them that you are the lucky one. Iromi to njo lori omi, onilu e wa l'ale odo. Online predators lure their victims with something they think the victim would want, which is the bait (our weaknesses) and build a relationship with the victim and finally deliver the victim to their deaths. Nobody would hear anything from them ever again, their families would know they are missing, meanwhile they have been silenced by an online predator. Clean Murder. Be careful to sieve information and classify them accordingly. Be a great lie detector. Never buy crap for truth at the expense of security. It really helps. Oju lalakan finsori. |

Olu317: The last thing I heard from the prime suspect just before I dropped from the car towards Olowu, via Toyin street, ikeja was this conversation: "...is segun there? Ok, no problem, Pay 2million." In my mind, I was like, this guys are rich. But believe me, when I reread the line that "he that wanted my life wanted your life", it's all coming back to me now. When I gave my product to the prime suspect, few minutes afterwards, he went to make a long call to whoever, and I developed goose pimples and got serious cold. I started a conversation with the third guy who drove us to the hotel just before Allen Avenue by Toyin street by the left. He was with us while we discussed at the reception all along. He's made no contribution. His composture shows that he's at best an Uber driver. My conversation with him was intended to keep me warm. I have made a mistake, I have given out items with my to a stranger. That's why I had cold. Because he left the table following the moment I gave him the items. I've told my wife in the morning that the facilitator of our meeting is stalking me, and she has warmed me never to go. But I surmount courage and went to meet the prime suspect anyway. If I don't, I won't be privy of the danger that looms and who to be careful with in the first place. Mio ni mo eni ti mo se. The book of Job 17:3 in Yoruba said "oju mi si te mo imunibinu won". I don't have friends nor enemies offline and nobody knew me in the neighborhood. But how about here? I've some. The facilitator is the insidious enemy who's employed the prime suspect to get my details and , I've played to their hands. Now with all said and done, what's next? I was to submit my details to prepare me for a journey to Europe. I was so happy. But the joy is short lived: I checked the website on the call card and lo, there's no human face to a great website. So how could there be such a great website to promote agro business coy and there's no ambassador to the company? The site is copyright 2013, and there's no pictures of factory or farm or happy customer. Then again I studied the products, it's not still live pictures, but graphic impressions. So the products doesn't exist in reality. This got me wandering what is the agenda of the meeting? I just delayed dropping any other information about myself than I have, because it could be my "Visa" to the "Europe", my details is the target. Now I went to check on the facilitator on WhatsApp. "Jungle Don Mature" a bold background shows a bushy forest and a little picture of checkers custard powder placed conspicuously on the background. Then "wisdom is the principal..." That combo is at best the working of the mind of a psychopath. Psychopaths are brilliant liars. Every detail is some camouflage. It's stupid trying to figure out what is depicted. This was the man who called me that a man will call me in 15 minutes time to discuss business with me. And it occurred to me, "how can you connect me to a stranger as a stranger?" I don't have to press the man to know him, he'll decieve me the more. He's stalking me from the start. I just had to be careful. The same mind guides me in time of old. The last conversation is the prove that the man who connect us was having a . They were not trying to help me but to set me up. I've picked part of the discussion of the day here. Or how could a stranger knows that I'm a mixer from a WhatsApp group I never belonged to when I don't have money to buy an Android phone? You don't know the circumstances at which the guy who claimed Yoruba is Hebrew on Facebook confessed he's being sponsored by the MFM until we see a recent post from him. Ina tiwon da sile feye gunnugun... I'm alive because I didn't go any further. The last time I called the prime suspect, he didn't pick up but called me the next day. I crossed check our last discussion and I found out he lied. No products but he claims he's produced one. He falls on my NAFDAC enquiry about his acclimated products with smooth lie. Psychopaths are brilliant liars. But thank God for safety, He protected my life from a killer nairalander. You can imagine if they have my house address or if I've got hooked up to the fake journey to Europe. I've seen someone boasting that he know where I am, and was in custudy of my picture. That's a forensic exhibit of a claim. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Olu317: LOL I am not alluding to you bro. I'm alluding to many Yoruba folks' cowardice and sense of betrayal right there. I've raised an allegation of a conspiracy to harm me first on this thread. I gave valid clues to that effect. The next post to that reeks of betrayal and cowardice. As to what I'm doing, whatever is worth living for is worth dieing for. Can't be stopped by kidnap kingpins. They are in their own jungle business and I'm on mine, if God expose them over and over, then He's alive. I have more time to do more by His grace. Your last meal alive will not be checkers custard in kidnappers' matured Jungle at any point, in Jesus name. Amen. Olu317: Amen bro. I just have to thank God that I've the chance to watch your back and warn you of common danger. I could have been your weakness if I've taken the bait first. In the jungle, won't I comply with them and supply my s under heavy torture? Won't they connect you undercover for the offer I once made with you to publish your works, etc? They will discard of the victim like tissue paper and guess what? Their initial payment for getting the victim hooked is not the value of his life at all. The victim's loved ones will cough out that money with profits as ransome. You sold yourself for free (loser) hoping for a piece of the good life (since your idea is money driven originally), and they bought you from a through their running contract. One should be careful, if money driven. Who's the winner in this? If you think I'm paranoid, I beseech you to think twice. when our friend claim I wanted to kill him, didn't he factor you in on the imaginary plot? Did he have the premonition that it would get to "death threat" before he finds out my location? At what point did he finds out my location from the moment the threat was made? Why was the threat I made interpreted as "corporate death threat" involving you and I, deductable from where the fellow was identified as Mr. Makinde? Apani kii fe ka muda koja lori oun. It's called the mirror effect. He suspected conspiracy from his paranoid psyche of being hunted and therefore dropped the hint of the reality as deterrent. The guy is the real hunter, the slip could not be placaded even after I've tried to beg him because he can't take chances with his life. Compare to when I first warned you on this thread. Were you not first blabbing about your book and your lawyer and theft of your idea? You are not conscious of the real threat because you never think of dealing with someone with death. The future book and idea theft are the items that could be threatened in your subconscious, until I gave you my perspective. Check that with the true threat: What if you are connected to a conspiracy in another man's subconscious? It's no longer in the subconscious if efforts has already been made in the direction before the conspiracy is claimed to have been hatched. If you are involved in a conspiracy with me for instance, I won't have to be the one to warn you be careful, it would come to you naturally and rather, we would be speaking in codes from past experience and agreements and expectations. Okete gbagbe ibosi, o degba alate o kawo l'eri. 1 Like |
