I’ve seen and heard several things from Nigerian men about akatas. It’s usually that we’re good for sex only or if they’re in a relationship it comes down to them not having their stuff together enough to date Nigerian women. I was shown a video where several married to/dating said they were surprised at how attentive and loving we are to our mates. - Understanding: From memories of home, to culture, to shared understanding of the pidgin language...there are some things a Nigerian can only enjoy with a fellow Nigerian.
- Future HOME plans. A lot of Nigerians fully intend on being able to back and forth to Nigeria. And some even have long term wishes of being able to move back permanently in the future as things get better. Having a Nigerian spouse with the same potential future wishes increases the chance of that wish becoming a reality.
