People and animals can be trained to acquire Skills, not qualities.

For example, Gen Diya received the best military training and held commands in his 35yrs career; yet those did Not make him Brave. Faced with Abacha, he knelt down crying and begging. Major Orkar never did that, even when caught, Gen Ironsi too.
So, Bravery is a quality and not a skill to be learned. Marksmanship is a skill not a quality. Combat proficiency can be learned, it is not a quality.

An animal e.g, a dog can acquire training in sniffing cocaine. Sniffing is a skill. But a sniffing Rottweiler would be different from a sniffing Labrador. They would both sniff, but a Rottweiler would be madder. That madness is an innate quality.

Yusuf Bichi, Director-General of the Department of State Services, has activated a lopsided hiring process that could overfill the security agency with personnel from the Northern part of Nigeria.

According to an online tabloid, Peoples Gazette, official documents and contributions of senior intelligence officials showed that the North had a massive share of the roughly 1,300 Nigerians currently undergoing cadet training at two different camps of the secret police in Lagos and Bauchi.

Of the total 628 cadet trainees, who had resumed at the Bauchi facility as of September 23, 535 identified themselves as trainees ing the service from either the North-East or the North-West.

Only 93 were from either the South-East, South-South, South-West or North-Central, according to recruitment filings sighted by the newspaper.

Findings also showed that at least 71 of those currently undergoing cadet training hailed from Bichi Local Government Area, Kano State, the Director-General’s home local government area.

Officials said the number was more but the newspaper could not independently confirm the higher figures as well as a slew of other disturbing allegations of bigotry against Bichi prior to this publication.

In Lagos, multiple participants including senior officials, said Bichi disregarded the federal character concept and skewed the process for Nigerians from the North.

A top official estimated 708 trainees were at the Lagos training facility as of September 26.

Officials were unsure how many people were taken as cadet trainees in total because some were still arriving three weeks into the six-month exercise.

Senior intelligence officials said even though the sectional disparity mirrors Nigeria’s reality under President Muhammadu Buhari, they are nonetheless worried that the development could potentially tip the ethnic and religious balance of national security in favour of a section of the country for decades.

“Some of us are worried less about the audacity of focusing on one part of the country to bring in new cadets than we are about its long-term implications,” a senior SSS official told the Gazette via a secure video channel last week.

Tho it's no news that most officers and soldiers enjoy seeing people suffer and the only justification is to rebrand wickedness and call it training.

This is why you see cadets behaving like terrorist every time they get little break from the academy. You see them blocking federal high ways and beating up civilians with little or no provocations.
Even when this brutalization is reported to academy authorities, nothing is ever done.

Now imagine cadets from west point blocking a federal high way in Washington DC. I can bet my left balls that those cadets are getting discharged and charged appropriately for the crime.

I have met many Nigerian officers Navy, Army and Airforce. And the animalistic, crude and barbaric behaviour of mere cadets is not unique to them but often seen in the highest level of our officers " the top Brass ".

Being a soldier in mist civil societies means honour, integrity and a responsibility to uphold the highest levels of honour.

Thats not the case in Nigeria.

there have been situations where insurgents gets information before hand of army battalions advancing to attack their positions, these informations usually comes from an insider and the faster way to do so is the use of SMS on mobile phones, most commanders don't allow their soldiers to have access to their phones for some period of time.

FIGHT AGAINST INSURGENCY: NAF WINGS 4 NEW PILOTS, TRAINS 139 IN LAST 5 YEARS, CERTIFIES 2 COMBAT RATED PILOTS

In furtherance of its capacity building efforts to tackle various internal security challenges in the Country, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has graduated another set of 6 pilots in tactical and basic flying. The combined graduation ceremony, which took place today, 29 September 2020, comprised 2 pilots of the Tactical Flying Course 24 (Batch B), and 4 student pilots of the Basic Flying Course 19 (Batch A). Among the graduands awarded Limited Combat Rating Certificate after completing the Tactical Flying Course on the Alpha Jet aircraft during today’s ceremony was the first female fixed-wing fighter pilot in the history of the NAF, Flying Officer Kafayat Sanni.

In his remarks at the graduation ceremony, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who was also the Guest of Honour, noted that human capacity development, being one of the Key Drivers of his Vision, has received much attention since he assumed office as the Twentieth Chief of the Air Staff. "This is evident in the number of personnel that have been trained in various courses, both locally and overseas. Indeed, today’s graduation brings the total number of new pilots winged since 2015 to 118, and by the end of 2020, the NAF would have completed the training and winging of 139 pilots, which is a glowing testament to the efficacy of our capacity building initiatives. These pilots have continued to add value to the efforts of the Service in dealing with security challenges in the North East, North West and other parts of the country" he said. The CAS further stated that, while a good number of NAF officers were undergoing various pilot training courses outside the country, the indigenous training institutions had continued to play a crucial role towards the attainment of the NAF’s capacity building initiatives. He expressed satisfaction that 403 Flying Training School, Kano and 407 Air Combat Training Group, Kainji, where the graduands were trained, had continued to set the pace in the provision of high-quality fighter pilot training.

While encouraging the 4 newly winged pilots, the CAS reminded them that they cannot afford to rest on their oars at this time, as the feat they had achieved also comes with a burden of responsibility with so much expected of them, not only by the NAF but indeed the Nigerian people, whose scarce resources were used to train them. He therefore urged them to continue to give their best to the Service and the Nation. While addressing the operational pilots, Air Marshal Abubakar, stated that their 18 months was deliberately made tedious with series of training sorties and several tactical maneuvers executed to the high standards expected of NAF fighter pilots. According to him, “all these were aimed at giving you the requisite skills to prepare you for the tasks ahead. I must emphasize that, now that you have earned your Limited Combat Rating, you will be required to work harder and fly with more precision in order to meet up with the expectations of Nigerians in the various operational theatres. There shall be no hiding place for armed bandits or terrorists in any of our forests" he assured.

The CAS expressed particular delight that Flying Officer Sanni, who was decorated with her pilot wings as the first female fixed-wing fighter pilot in the history of the NAF on 15 October 2019, had made history yet again, by successfully completing the Tactical Flying Training on the Alpha Jet aircraft. He noted that Flying Officer Sanni and her colleagues were now better trained and prepared to be deployed for combat missions in the ongoing counter-insurgency air operations in the North-East and other parts of the country. “You will go down in the history of our Nation as the first female fixed-wing fighter pilot to undertake combat missions in defence of our freedom and sacred values. You will be undertaking combat missions to assert our right to our territory and protect the lives and property of our people", the CAS added.

Air Marshal Abubakar further noted that the NAF’s ability to effectively and efficiently project Air Power has also been significantly enhanced by the Federal Government’s in the areas of platforms acquisition and reactivation as well as training and approval to expand NAF's field units. He therefore appreciated the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari for his unflinching to the NAF. The CAS also appreciated the National Assembly, especially the Chairmen and of the Senate and House Committees on Air Force for their continued to the Service.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chief of Training and Operation, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) James Gwani, noted that the graduation of the pilots further lends credence to one of the Key Drivers of the CAS’ Vision, which is “Human capacity development through robust and result oriented training for enhanced professional performance”. He added that the graduation of the pilots would undoubtedly further enhance the NAF’s capacity for effective, efficient and timely employment of air power in response to Nigeria’s national security imperatives.

While giving the highlights of the 2 courses, the Air Officer Commanding Air Training Command (AOC ATC), AVM Musa Mukhtar, stated that the Basic Flying Course 24B, which commenced in March 2019, comprised 2 phases; the ground academics and flying training phases. He noted that the ground academics phase lasted 14 weeks, covering subjects such as Aerospace Physiology, Aircraft System and Aircraft Operation Orders, amongst others. Areas covered in the flying training phase, which required each student to fly an average of 130 sorties, included General Handling, Instrument Flying, Navigation as well as Night and Formation Flying. He remarked that the Tactical Flying Course 19A, which lasted 18 Months, was also conducted in 2 phases, the Conversion and Tactical phases, covering Air to Ground Weapons Delivery Theory, Tactical Deliveries and Mission Planning, amongst others, with each trainee flying 35 and 40 hours in each phase, respectively.

TROOPS OF OPERATION ACCORD NEUTRALIZES ARMED BANDITS, RECOVER ARMS AND AMMUNITION IN KAJURU LGA OF KADUNA STATE

1. In continuation of the offensive operation against criminal elements, troops of Operation ACCORD recorded appreciable successes. Troops in conjunction with local vigilantes ed by close air on 27 September 2020 conducted search and rescue/ clearance operation at Dajin Kajuru in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. In the course of the operation, was made with armed bandits. After a fierce encounter, 2 armed bandits were neutralised while unconfirmed number escaped with gunshot wounds. During the exploitation by the gallant troops, 2 magazines, 36 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and 2 motorcycles were recovered. In the same vein, following credible intelligence on the criminal elements who escaped from the onslaught earlier, troops apprehended 3 of the criminal elements in Kujeni village. Currently the gallant troops have dominated the area with aggressive patrols to deny the criminal elements freedom of action.

2. The Military High Command commends the gallant troops for their dexterity and encourages them to intensify the onslaught against the enemies of our country. The general public is thus encouraged to continue providing credible information to the troops operating within their localities.

BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS AND FAMILY SURRENDER TO TROOPS OF 151 TASK FORCE BATTALION BANKI JUNCTION

1. Sequel to sustained aerial bombardment and aggressive intensive clearance operation by troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in the North East, 13 suspected BHT alongside 6 women and 17 children from Kodila village have surrendered to troops of 151 Task Force Battalion at Banki Junction in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

2. The suspects and their family who surrendered on 26 September 2020, have been receiving medical attention at the 21 Special Armoured Brigade Medical Centre. The suspects are currently undergoing thorough profiling and investigation in line with global best practice in handling such cases.

3. The Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies remain resolute, determined and committed to sustaining the tempo of the operations.

The development in the SSS with respect to recruitment is not helping the unity of this country at all. It is one thing to be mouthing one Nigeria especially by gov't officials and another to put it to action, PMB is not helping matters at all if we are to be honest. In 2015 about 400+ cadets in training in this same SSS were eased off because according to some politicians they came from one section of the country. In 2017 a heavily loopsided recruitment was done Katsina state alone had more cadets(44) than the entire South east about, Lagos had about 10 slots, Kano(40). The media, civil society organisations etc cried out but nothing happened, today the story of Nepotism in the same SSS has even worsened by the current DG. How can one justify the fact that cadets in training from Bichi's local gov't exceed the slot of the entire South?
The entire South got about 93 slots (This is including North central states oo!!).
Then NW and NE got a whooping 533 slots.
Does this in any way make sense or foster the much talked about unity which is even hanging on a precipice. The govt of the day is doing more damage to whatever is left in Nigeria faster than IPOB and other separatist group.
Where we are today as a nation is very very unfortunate, never a time in our history security agencies have being accused of bigotry and ethnic chauvinism.

I suspect that if the Volta region press only even moderately, Ghana would concede to them. It seems to me that somehow Ghanaian leaders have come to believe that Ghana gains much at Nigeria’s expense. They would be calculating that ceding the Volta region would give more impetus to separatist movement in Nigeria. In order words, the opportunity cost of fomenting more trouble for Nigeria is disengaging Volta. They are a simple and pompous people that would want to posture in the worlds eyes as intelligent civilised beings able to avert issues of national existence at the negotiation table.

In reality they are likely incapable of waging war with any rebel groups especially sustaining such; in any case, not at this crucial stage to them, when it seems as if all is going their way, for instance Nigeria’s international negative news drawing to them more investment and especially positive ratings they don’t deserve. The negativity associated with insecurity of fighting rebel groups is too much. The risk to their economy and false great image would be too far.

The Togolese gov't is a vulnerable one being vindictive because Ghana has waded into their political affairs in of it citizens being against the Togolese gov't human right abuses.

The last time they tried this was in the 60s 70s and their government was nearly overthrown before they quickly came to their senses and disbanded the group.

I suspect that if the Volta region press only even moderately, Ghana would concede to them. It seems to me that somehow Ghanaian leaders have come to believe that Ghana gains much at Nigeria’s expense. They would be calculating that ceding the Volta region would give more impetus to separatist movement in Nigeria. In order words, the opportunity cost of fomenting more trouble for Nigeria is disengaging Volta. They are a simple and pompous people that would want to posture in the worlds eyes as intelligent civilised beings able to avert issues of national existence at the negotiation table.

In reality they are likely incapable of waging war with any rebel groups especially sustaining such; in any case, not at this crucial stage to them, when it seems as if all is going their way, for instance Nigeria’s international negative news drawing to them more investment and especially positive ratings they don’t deserve. The negativity associated with insecurity of fighting rebel groups is too much. The risk to their economy and false great image would be too far.
