The part in bold is absolute nonsense. Egbin thermal power station was build in the 80’s so how you came about the current cost of building the plant is a mystery.

Even if I accept your price as an accurate reflection of current realities, your argument still doesn’t make sense because mambilla is a hydro dam project and Egbin is a gas powered project. How many of the gas powered plant that Obasanjo and Jonathan build are operating today?

In case you don’t know, it’s extremely silly for any country to rely on a single source of power generation. Most countries have a basket of power generating options that include hydro, solar, gas, coal and nuclear plant. Nigeria adopted a similar policy under Fashola.

So you see, saying we should keep building only gas plant that get shut down by inadequate gas supply or even outright pipeline explosion or bombing makes no sense. We must develop all available options. Hydro dam are even far more reliable than the gas plants.
