Total number of soldiers is less 8000, no meaningful numbers of armored tanks and armored protection vehicles, no meaningful air defense systems. About 5 mig21s that could be destroyed where they are based in the initial phase of the attack which is only possible if one of the countries bordering Mali lends us their airbase to launch attacks from, most reliably Ghana, our F7s will cause a lot of issues for them.
We desperately need JF-17s for missions like this, distance between Bamako and the nearest Nigerian airbase is almost 1700km.

Considering this coup has 's fingerprints all over it, I would advise that Nigeria looks the other way and just protect the borders because the coup will definitely be beneficial to terrorists groups in the region and movement of weapons.

Llol you guys never cease to amaze me. I will go further? As of this writing i have 21,000 followers, vast majority of whom are sane and level headed making positive contributions. You sick mofos here are trying to paint yourselfs as professionals and hating. What a cesspool of prideful mofos. I asked a simple question based on an article.... a simple question and you sick degenerates pounce on it lack a pack of hungry wolves. ..and for those of you coming to my twitter page. It takes an incredible amount of stupidity to keep returning to the handle you all disparage and condem. Like i said before you all are free to wallow in your negativity and stupidity. What a bunch of sick hateful people. In your hatred and jealousy you have become dark beyond the point of redemption. So continue hating, continue trying to look for holes so you can sleep better at night. Bunch of fools.

On a serious note, you mislead people with your nonsense posts on Twitter. You just write your opinions on issues, which most times are irrational opinions.

I just looked through your Twitter posts now and I shake my head. Your opinions ars misleading bro, many people have told you this fact.

When you were SSBN moniker, I tackled you many times on nairaland with my legendary former moniker. Please stop misleading people.

Very good. I enforcing discipline in the army.

But honestly, its not the soldier's fault. He wouldn't disobey his GOC.

let's see how things unfold. No international community backed the Coup. All have condemned it. The only problem is that the malians seem to like it.

This situation just plays into the hands of ISIS. I hope Mali comes back to sanity soon.

Sir, its time we allow our neighbouring countries in partnership with the french go it all alone. These guys see nothing good in our efforts. We have nothing to prove to them. The insurgency we are battling is stretching us but as a country, we are pulling our acts together and building a armed forces to reckon.
The best, we gather intelligence for partners who will participate militarily and we sit back to fortify our border security like we have always emphasised on this forum.
Our regional stance need to be emphasised. It doesnt make us any weaker but sends a strong signal to the ecowas that we fight our war without anyones dictate. It is an opportunity for the likes of Accra, Niamey and Ndjamena to have a feel of what it takes to shoulder the regions burden.

We have nothing to prove to anyone. My 2kobo

Drones are highly necessary Bro. We need to really monitor the movements of these bastards as Choppers surveillance might be quite expensive tho.

Sometimes these guys move in large convoys and that's the fastest way to get a big chunk of their roasted meat..

This war just tire me.

we better sit up in Nigeria, governing-wise so as not to risk same. Upon all their strong desert war experience and ruggedness, Nigeria must still deploy, God bless the Armed Forces of Nigeria

Hearing that Kukawa, where Borno State had encouraged a week ago several hundred IDPs to resettle under military & police escort is now under #ISWAP attack. Clearly, ISWAP not keen on authorities trying to settle back communities in their ZoCs. Hoping damage is not too bad.

They're both very important. Drones will give you 24/7 360° surveillance at a much more reasonable cost than any manned aircraft.
Infact the problem US had with drones initially was the problem of stamina of their drone pilots because it's not easy for a human being to be behind a stick for 16hrs straight and drones even the Chinese versions can loiter for 30 straight hours non stop.
I think getting both the Tucanos and drones is ok, drones should watch over our skies while the Tucanos can be called up immediately for a surgical strike when enemy movement is detected. The good thing is that drone pilots can be trained in 1 year, the then prototype Amebo drone could fly from Kaduna to Maiduguri on just 7 litres of fuel. I don't know what happened to subsequent versions if at all we didn't even abandon it. With the way US is doing shakara with their Tucanos on top our own money, is better we start sourcing for other options because Uncle Sam may say dem no dey sell again to us and there is nothing we can do.
So we should look to the Chinese and eastern Europe for options just in case.

I have a question that has been on mind for a while now.
Do you guys think delivery of attack platforms we are expecting like the JF17, tucanos, mi35m etc would make any difference to this war?
To me I don't think there would be any difference cos with the look of things the Airforce doesn't lack any strike ability against bokoharam location. The platforms might only make striking easier for the pilots and that's all.

There is increasing confrontation between US soldiers in Syria and SAA soldiers. Three days ago, a US military convoy was prevented from ing through a checkpoint, it escalated to a gunfight and airstrike was called in that resulted in the death of Two Syrian soldiers and wounding others. Yesterday, a US drone was shot down over Syria.

It all depends on how they are used. They will definitely increase the capability of Airforce but then we've seen the most equipped military losing to rag tag militias several times in history. Let's just hope the Airforce maximizes the potentials of these platforms.
