Do you have a mechanism of picking your stocks for short term plays?

I'm planning on making some short term plays with penny stocks but want to do my due diligence first.

I'm mostly buying on market order, but with time I'll become used to limit order, stop-loss order.

Taking it gradually one at a time so as not to confuse myself.

I use S&P Capital IQ (because I have free access to it), Yahoo Finance, Simply Wall St, and finviz (especially for charts) to get info.

What I’m looking for are high volume, price, moderate price-earnings multiple, positive insider transactions (could signal the true value of the stock), the chart patterns to spot resistance and in order to guess the price to enter or sell via limit order, etc.

Finviz really helps to screen based on some criteria. With time I’d subscribe to gold hip on Robinhood to have access to level II data. I have a Fidelity too, although I haven’t used them to trade, but they have more good info.

I would love to hear the thoughts of experienced traders in the house on this.

So in keeping with my promise to hint, I have seen from my "Dark Room" (if you how photographers washed pictures taken years back) that this may be the right time for some ETF plays.

Am buying these plays today UVXY (38.40) and SQQQ ($10.99).
They can be very volatile and are for very short term.

Consequently, I advise that it is wiser to exit bearish ETF plays for now and reinvest in more promising stocks.

Remaining in ETF's may require a longer than expected time frame instead of short term profits as anticipated.

With Trove, you simply type in the total amount in dollars you intend to trade with, and the system will take care of the corresponding number of shares to that amount.

I work as a freelancer on the side and have been able to save some funds. I’m thinking of removing some of those funds from the bank and putting them to use investing. If anyone could recommend articles, books or any material I could use to broaden my knowledge and reduce the risk in investing, I would really appreciate it. I check on this thread everyday and have signed up for all three apps(trove, bamboo and Chaka) I might just go with one of the numerous stock recommendations here to test the waters one of this days. If for the sake of a future downturn in general market trend, then one can hold till when ever that happens.

ETF's are peculiar as a lot of them mirror the direct opposite prevailing conditions of the stock market such that when prices are collapsing, they are appreciating and vice versa.

But if you can board at anything under $200, that would be fantastic entry.

With a mid -long term investment horizon, BABA is a sure bet even at today's price.

Welcome on board!! You've taken a bold step towarads a path I strongly believe will lead to financial independence if done right. I coming across a similar tread like this on nairaland some years ago and that's was how I started investing in the stock market. I like TD Ameritrade, it is a broker for serious investors.

I like all four airline stocks and I still believe buying them at these levels is literally free money. As the economy opens up, people will travel once more. And like you said, we still need the airlines, will the govt just let them all go bankrupt? I don't think so. Unlike the cruise lines, the airlines are essential and yes the government will step in to save them (maybe not all) just like they did with the big banks in 2008.

You plan to hold these stocks for over 6 months, so I think even with uncertainty and volatility in the travel sector, you will still come out ahead as long term investor.

I will urge you to get a general understading of graphs so as to identify potential resistance and floor levels, it may help you trim or add to your position along the way.

Marriott and other leisure and entertainment stocks have been beaten to a pulp. The risk reward at these levels are enticing especially for a long term investor. But like Dremanuel said, try not to put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your portfolio so it can withstand shocks in the market. Being fully invested in the travel and leisure space only can be risky, so if you have capital to buy more stocks, look into the health, consumer discretionary, financials and tech sectors.

Nice comment! The Robotics companies is another area long term investors might consider when diversifying.

But after filling in my personal details ( name, country, add in UK ), the application is stopped with message it cant process application from every country and that I

should call an manager or something like that.

So I could not the address page of the application.

Please I don't know what to do because I thought UK is not blocked from applying

1. Please any suggestion on what to do?

2 . And secondly can I use a family address in US to ?......I have a US checking bank link to this address in US
